Story
Hi! My name is Gidget. I am a 9 year, lovable Shih Tzu looking for my forever home. I am spryand keep my foster mommy laughing. I will let her know when she is out of my sight, and I can't find her by barking and asking where she is. She is spoiling me by picking me up and down to get on the sofa, but I can do it myself. She is trying to teach me how to do steps up to the bed, but why should I when she is there to pick me up. I am blind in my right eye, but that does not stop me. I am good about scanning my environment to see where I need to go. I am working on potty training. I have went through some home changes recently so sometimes I forget to bark when I need to go out, but my foster mommy said I am doing good with my training. I walk well on a leash, and I love to go for car rides. I am a perfect companion dog. I don't pay any attention to the cats in my foster home, and I am good with my pack. I do let them know when they are too close to me and bothering me. They just back off and life is great again. My foster mommy says I would be good as an only dog too if that is what you are looking for. What am I looking for? A loving home that will let me be their shadow and cuddle with them. That is all I want.Gidget is spayed, up to date on all vaccines, had a heart worm test, on heartworm preventative, de-wormed, and microchipped. Gidget’s adoption fee is $325.00. Please go to our website aaprescue.org to learn about our adoption process.

Story
Hi. I am a 1 year old tiny, brown and white female Shitsu who comes as a bonded pair with my 2 year old morkie brother, Zeke. You see, we were brought up together and depend on each other. I was originally found wandering the streets of San Antonio when I was a young puppy. Zeke came from a breeder. I am good with all people, including children. I get along well with other small dogs. Not sure about cats or large dogs since foster mom doesn't have either. I love to snuggle and sleep in the bed with my brother and foster mom. I am good on a leash and love chew toys and bones. I am pretty calm but can be a bit of a barker. I like going for car rides. I am kennel trained and do best being kenneled with my brother. I am pee pad trained and am working on potty training. I do the best when I am on a consistent schedule. So, if you have a lap big enough for a pair of lap-loving tiny dogs, we are your guys. Have your peeps contact my peeps and we'll get this love fest started. Adoption fee local in Texas is $700 for the both of them, the out of state fee is $1200, this includes the transport fee for both of them as well as the fuel surcharge.

Shih Tzu DOB 12/18/19 14lbs Neutered/Microchipped UTD on vaccinations Current on flea/heartworm prevention Please read the bio in its ENTIRETY, it will answer most of your questions. If you are a perfect match, please send an email to gateway4paws@gmail.com for additional information. Only complete & qualified applications will be considered/contacted. We do not allow shipping & do not transport. You must live within 350 miles from Maryville, IL & able to drive for a meet and greet. We are a 100% foster-based rescue. Applications can be found here on our website. Hershey was a pretty shy boy when he first arrived. He was scared & not sure what the future was going to be. Well, he arrived at his foster home & was greeted by some furry friends who assured him it was going to be fabulous from here on out. He spent the first few weeks just watching. Watching the humans, watching the other dogs, & watching the household activities. Hershey has come a long way and now follows his foster mom everywhere. He will jump up on the recliner so his foster mom will hold him. He lays in the kitchen next to her feet. He loves his foster mom. He is still unsure of his foster dad but is getting better. In his new home, everyone will need to understand Hershey will need time to adjust so you will need patience. Hershey is still not accepting of the harness and leash so he will need a secure physically fenced yard. In time, his family can work on leash training, but it isn’t going to happen any time soon. He is a very good boy that doesn’t need to be crated & is always on his best behavior when his foster family is gone. He is not completely potty trained but taken out often, he doesn't have accidents. Hershey needs a low-key family that will allow him to bloom. He really needs another dog of similar size in the home already. He will lay and snuggle with his foster siblings around the home during the day and he cuddles with his 4 legged siblings on a comfy bed in his human fosters bedroom. Please apply if you have a nice slow-paced home for Hershey to join.

Story
Please visit leiashope.org for our adoption process. Location: Decatur, IL Requirements: Secure PHYSICAL fenced yard Pearl is a spunky and sassy Shih Tzu that likes to use her voice! She is a previous breeder dog and was shy at first but has warmed up in her foster home and has the Shih Tzu attitude the breed is loved for! Pearl likes to play, but she can be a little rough in her play. She has found a great playmate with the 16 lb Shihtzu mix in the foster home. The two of them run and jump on each other, tackle and wrestle until they are tired. She loves to chew and enjoys her weekly raw meaty bone given in her kennel. Pearl was very picky with her food when she came into rescue and so foster mom tried her on raw (which is what her dogs eat) and she eats it well. Foster mom is mixing raw with kibble and she does well with it. Pearl has only been around a toddler and she was terrified to the point of pooping herself. It is not recommended that small children live in the home with Pearl. She will require a secure physical fenced yard. Pearl's adoption is $375. She is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccines and on monthly flea and heart worm prevention. Visit leiashope.org for next steps! PLEASE NOTE: We are a volunteer ran rescue with full time jobs. Please allow 7-10 days for application processing. All of our dogs are in foster homes and a meet and greet is done ONLY after an approved application. We do adopt out of the area. However, we do not ship or provide transportation. You must come to the location of the dog to meet and adopt. NO EXCEPTION. All family members and dogs must be present at the meet. Dogs are a commitment for THEIR lifetime. For puppies this could be 15 years. If YOU cannot commit to the lifetime of the DOG, please do not apply. Puppies under 9 months must go to a home where there is someone home frequently (works from home or a partner is home), can adequately socialize and train the puppy, and can keep up with puppy energy!

Story
Please visit leiashope.org for our adoption process. Located in Troy, MO Requirements: Canine Companion (the more the better) Secure physical fenced yard Jack is a sweet little guy with some insecurities and fears he needs to work through. Jack will do best in a home with at least one other young confident dog. He is good with dogs of all sizes but plays best with dogs his size or bigger. Jack is a playful guy and is enjoying his foster home with multiple dogs! His best friend is a cavalier/bernese dog and maybe it's his bigger size that makes Jack feel safe. Jack enjoys running around the yard with his friends, chasing each other, playing tug, and then taking a nap! Jack is also very sweet and loves his couch and cuddle time with foster mom. He tends to gravitate to women and sleeps in bed next to foster mom at night. Jack has a phobia to people in hats. It terrifies him and he will run and hide and shake. Please be mindful of this if you meet him and when others meet him. Jack walks good on a leash and would maybe enjoy short walks in a familiar environment. However, new people and situations scare him, and his instinct is to flee, so a physical fenced yard is required. Jack's adoption is $375. He is neutered, current on vaccines, microchipped and on monthly flea and heartworm prevention. Visit leiashope.org for next steps. PLEASE NOTE: We are a volunteer ran rescue with full time jobs. Story
Please visit leiashope.org for our adoption process. Located in Troy, MO Mr. Rogers is a young Teddybear puppy (Bichon/Shihtzu) that is a little shy but is learning to trust people. Mr. Rogers is hoping to join a neighborhood soon! He is shy with people but confident with other playful dogs. He loves to do zoomies and chase after other dogs. Once he is all worn out he grabs a drink then settles in for a nap! Mr. Rogers came from a place known as a puppy mill and did not get the socialization he needed as a young puppy. His new family will need to continue to work on his confidence and show him lots of love and patience. Mr. Rogers came into rescue with Giardia, a common parasite found in puppy mills. It is easy to treat and he will finish his meds before leaving to his new family. Mr. Roger's adoption fee is $500. He is microchipped, current on age appropriate vaccines and on monthly heart worm prevention. He has not been neutered due to his young age (we spay/neuter at 6 months). A spay/neuter contract is required. Next steps can be found at leiashope.org. PLEASE NOTE: We are a volunteer ran rescue with full time jobs. Please allow 7-10 days for application processing.
