Meet Shaggy Rogers! This sweet 6-year-old Maltese mix is a total heart-stealer with his soft white coat, soulful eyes, and gentle spirit. Shaggy is everything you could want in a companion — fully potty trained, calm, snuggly, and perfectly content to spend his days lounging by your side or napping in a cozy spot. At about 16 pounds, he’s the ideal size for sofa cuddles and lap time. This adorable boy could probably stand to lose a few pounds, right now he's got just a touch of extra fluff to love! Shaggy has impeccable manners — he walks nicely on leash, is crate trained, and does just fine when left alone (he’ll likely just curl up for a nap). He’s friendly with men, women, and kids of all ages, and he’s also great with other small dogs. While playdates give him a fun little spark, he’s also happy as an only dog — he’s all about peaceful companionship. Shaggy’s low-key personality makes him a perfect match for a relaxed household — singles, adults, or seniors who prefer quiet days and cozy evenings. He plays quietly with toys and loves to be your cuddle buddy and calm companion. Shaggy came to us a bit matted and with a mild, treatable skin infection, so he’s on the mend and just starting to show his sweet personality as he heals. His adopter will need to be patient as his hair grows back and he regains his full fluff — but his loving eyes and gentle nature already shine through. He’s also been recently shaved, so expect an adorable transformation once his coat returns! Your Current Pets - We do require that your current dogs and cats are current on vaccines and spayed/neutered. Adoptions - We do not have a shelter and are a foster-home based organization. We do require that you have an approved adoption application to schedule a meet and greet. You can fill out an adoption application on our website, www.herorescue.org/adopt. Once your application is approved it will be sent to the foster family that is currently caring for the dog. They will be able to provide information on likes, dislikes, personality, etc. They will also schedule a time for you to meet the dog. We do require a home visit prior to adoption. Meet Chance! Chance is a lovable 3-year-old Chihuahua/Shih Tzu mix with a heart as big as his sweet personality. Chance has a head tremor caused by a congenital cerebellar lesion, but it doesn’t slow him down at all. , This was confirmed by a neurology consultation. He’s a happy, affectionate little guy who enjoys life at a relaxed, low-to-moderate energy pace—happy to play a little, go on short walks, or just curl up for cuddles and quiet companionship. He is house-trained and crate-trained, gets along beautifully with dogs, kids, and cats, and greets everyone he meets with warmth and friendliness. Chance is looking for a loving forever home where he can share his gentle, loyal heart every single day. Chance is currently undergoing treatments for heartworm disease. Until he has completed his treatments and is fully recovered, Chance is available for adoption only in the Atlanta area; He must be able to come to Furkids' shelter for treatments. Chance weighs 13lbs and is approximately 3 years old (est. birth date 09/24/2022). Chance has been neutered, is up to date on all vaccinations & preventatives, and is microchipped.
