Story
Hello . . . my name is Pierre and I am a 1-year-old  Shih Tzu. I'm a small guy at just 10 lbs. who is looking for my new forever home with a dog savvy owner. I'm looking for a patient, loving and commited person to love me and my quirky personality.  I promise to love you in return!  I'm also quite handsome (if I do say so myself). I hope you enjoy reading more about me . . .  General Behavior: Pierre is the cutest little tripod. He has a non-functional front leg but that does not slow him down one bit. This affectionate fellow will greet you with an enthusiastic wiggle when you come home and then will settle in for snuggles and playtime.  In fact, he will actively come to be in your lap to snuggle, but on his terms.  When he has had enough, he will let you know.  Likes & Dislikes:   A few of Pierre's favorite things include:  soft toys (the more, the merrier) and food.  He is very food-motivated and actually enjoys food perhaps a little too much.   Training: Pierre is practicing his manners and has the makings of a little gentleman. He has worked very hard on housetraining and is doing very well. He walks well on a leash and tolerates car rides.  Medical: Pierre is a healthy boy! He is currently taking PetTinic for iron, but long term he will probably only need his monthly flea and heartworm preventatives. Other Animals:  A home where Pierre would be the only dog is needed. He mostly ignores his fosters’ cat, although he gave a half-attempted chase one time. Children:   This boy would do best in a home with no children.  Home: Pierre can be rather anxious if left alone and will bark and howl. Therefore, he needs to be in a single family home where someone is around more often than not. He would also be safer in a home without stairs, and if there is a pool he needs to be protected from it.  Although he might enjoy sleeping in the "big person" bed at night, it is much safer (due to his small size and 3 working legs), for him to sleep in his own space. He's perfectly content with this arrangement.   Grooming: As a Shih Tzu, Pierre will need regular grooming (about every 6-8 weeks) to keep him looking and feeling his best.  The cost of grooming should be a consideration for any potential adopter.  Overall: Pierre is a sweet little guy who needs a family who will accept his quirks and love him just the way he is. Could Pierre bring the “ooh la la” factor your life has been missing? Then visit our website www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org where you will find the application to adopt. You’ll be put in contact with the foster family for more information if it’s a potential match. He is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and neutered, and he even had his teeth cleaned this year. His adoption donation is $200. ##2161084##

Story
***Local adoption only: Lord Farquaad must be adopted by a family in the central Florida region (Orlando area) who can commit to taking him to a follow-up appointment with PPR's vetting partner. The cost of this appointment is covered by his adoption donation.*** Hi! I’m a four-year-old, 11-lb Shih Tzu - Poodle blend called Lord Farquaad. I may be short and dark-haired like the Shrek character, but I’m actually the most loving and affectionate little guy. Read on to learn more about me. General Behavior:  This handsome little fella has a beautiful zest for life. He loves everyone and is always eager to play. He acts timid and tries to scoot away when any of us go to pick him up, but then he enjoys being held. Likes & Dislikes: Lord Farquaad loves to chew so rawhide-free bones are a must. He likes to cuddle, but can also be independent as long as he is near his person. By contrast, he is not a fan of loud noises such as the vacuum cleaner and he will hide underneath a bed or chair. Training: Lord Farquaad has the makings of a little gentleman! He is housetrained if let out regularly, loves going for rides in the car, and sleeps in a dog bed at night. He will need to work on a few basic manners as he plays too roughly sometimes and jumps. He will pull and try to run when he first goes out on a leash, but will settle in for a decent walk once his excitement settles. He gets very excited upon meeting people and will sometimes pee from excitement. Oops! Medical: Lord Farquaad has cataracts in both eyes, but he is still visual. He was also just prescribed Optimmune Ophthalmic ointment for dry eye. The ointment will need to be applied every 12 hours and he takes it like a champ. The cost is about $30 per month.     Other Animals: Lord Farquaad can be calm with senior/non playful dogs and will entertain himself with his dog toys, but would prefer another playful companion. He hasn’t been observed around cats, but his foster thinks he’d be OK with them. Children: Lord Farquaad is good with children of all ages. Home: Lord Farquaad could probably do well in an apartment, condo, or single-family home. Sometimes he barks when left alone, but other times he has been quiet and he’s usually quiet when his foster returns home, too. Grooming: Lord Farquaad should be professionally groomed every 6-8 weeks, bathed between grooms, brushed/combed a few times a week and he should have his teeth brushed a few times a week as well. Overall: Lord Farquaad is a great, loyal boy and will bring a lot of fun and joy to his future family. Could you and Lord Farquaad live happily ever after together? Do you live in the central Florida region? Then visit our website www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org where you will find the application to adopt. You’ll be put in contact with the foster family for more information if it’s a potential match. He is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and neutered, and he has just had his teeth cleaned. His adoption donation is $375.  ##2177667##

Story
Bandit is 13 years old. He was the family dog while I was growing up. We got him when I was around 17 years old. I am now 30. I ultimately inherited bandit after my mom and dad passed in 2019 so I have had him on my own for the last five years .He is a very active dog, which leads me to want to get him a backyard as I live downtown Orlando in a high-rise with an elevator. I know bandit loves to play fetch and run around outside for hours if possible, but my schedule does not let me do this with him anymore. He also loves tug-of-war and generally anything active. My job requires me to be gone 12 hours out of the day in some cases and it just weighs on my conscious knowing that he is there all alone in my one bedroom apartment. When not working. I try to devote all my time to bandit, and it’s still simply not enough in my opinion. He is a healthy 13 year-old dog and looks like he has some years left so I feel like I owe it to him to make it the best possible life he can have
