There is a very good reason why this adorable, beautiful Shih Tzu has been at the rescue for over 5 years. Geoffrey David is a special boy, who needs a special person to welcome him into their life. His behavior suggests he was abused from a very early age. When he arrived, this young boy was very untrusting and a defensive biter. After many years of receiving consistent love, care, and compassion, and watching the other dogs enjoy human attention and affection, Geoffrey David has made absolutely remarkable improvements. Geoffrey David is now happy, relaxed, and seeks out attention and petting. He has become much more animated and loves to play with toys. He also enjoys the company of other nice dogs and gets along very well in a group. Geoffrey David still does not want to be picked up, held, or go on a leash, but this will probably also change with more time. When he has reached his limits of petting, he usually lets you know with a little growl, or just walks away. Geoffrey David is about 9 years old and about 15 pounds. It’s just not right that these absolutely wonderful ladies have been at the rescue for many, many years, most of their lives. Sasha and Scarlett are certainly a unique pair, with their awesome, one of a kind looks, matched by their big, fun, personalities. They are very friendly, sweet, happy girls, with lots of energy, who love to be with people. They enjoy cuddly lap time, lots of affection, leash walks, romping on the yard, belly rubs for Scarlett, and a little toy playing for Sasha. They are easy to walk together on leashes, and they get along with other dogs. Sasha (brown and grey, about 11 years old) is the mother of Scarlett (black and white, about 10 years old), both Shih Tzu/Terrier mixes. They are currently somewhat overweight, but should be at proper weight about 14 pounds for Sasha, and 17 pounds for Scarlett. They have been bypassed year after year for our more classic Shih Tzus. It’s hard enough to adopt pairs, especially mixes, but Sasha and Scarlett have a special bond, and we will keep them together for their senior years ahead. Luxe is a beautiful boy who wants lots of love and kindness from a new person he can call his own. He is a sweet soul, whose behavior and demeanor suggest he was abused. Luxe has been with us for about 6 months and has quickly learned to trust and enjoy life. He is happy and friendly, and seeks out attention and affection. He loves petting, belly rubs, playing in his bed, leash walks, and just hanging out. Luxe does not like other male dogs, suggesting he may have had bad experiences with them in his past. When he misbehaves, he quickly and obediently responds to “no”, and is, for the most part, a good boy. He is okay with female dogs. Luxe is a Shih Tzu mix and about 6 years old. He arrived overweight, but should trim down to about 15 pounds. He is otherwise in good condition and has good energy. Luxe can be adopted into a family as the only dog, or with another nice, calm, female, but no males. He is really a terrific boy who shows his love when he looks at you with his endearing eyes. Adorable, sweet, friendly Lily Belle is all that a wonderful, little Shih Tzu girl should be. What makes her extra special is that, despite her tragic story and her blindness, Lily Belle is bright, very engaging, and full of spunk. This amazing beauty was neglected, and at some point, surrendered to another shelter. She was very matted, had fleas, and had limited, if any, vision. From that shelter, she was adopted about 1-2 years ago, but then surrendered again, this time to us, due to financial hardship. Lily Belle is about 8 1/2 years old and 13 pounds. Other than her eyes, she is in good condition. She has adjusted quickly and very well to being at our shelter. Lily Belle is lively and loves to cuddle in a cozy lap for affection. Her silly, playful side has also emerged and is so cute. This resilient, darling girl, after being neglected and moved from home to home, especially being blind, certainly deserves a safe, stable, loving home, for the first time in her life.
