This little cutie arrived from St. Thomas in early February and has been nothing but an absolute joy! Nothing like waking up to pure happiness and sunshine from this little lady. Hot Pepper aka known as Piper is believed to be a Shih Tzu and terrier mix. She’s a petite gal weighing in at a whopping 10 pounds. She is a young, playful, yet calm dog, who would fit any lifestyle. She is currently being fostered with dogs of all ages, sizes, temperaments, and she’s rocking it. Piper loves people too! Especially if you have a handy treat available. This little girl will do a cartwheel for a snack. Piper loves her chew toys and spends hours happily chewing on them to keep her teeth cleaned. She also enjoys hanging out on your lap or doing chase and catch games. Car rides? Perfect little partner! Great at the Vet. Great on leash and non-reactive to the environment. She is a quiet little dog and rarely barks. She is crate trained and currently sleeps on her own at night in her crate with all her stuffies. She adores her crate. She is potty trained to go outside to do her business after initially struggling to learn this probably because of the climate change She is said to not be a fan of cats. Pros: EVERYTHING! Great little dog. Cons: Occasional accidents inside due to confusion. We believe she was pee pad trained. She finds door mats or small rugs to do her business on. This behavior has mostly subsided, but will still need to be monitored. In St. Thomas she showed signs of separation anxiety but with the proper sturcture here, she has shown no signs of it. We are looking for a family that will be able to give her structure and rules to follow but with that, she'll show you so much love. She walks well on leash and loves to be close to her people. She is medically up to date (recent full dental done), housebroken, and crate trained. Born around January 9, 2025, and weighing about 14 lbs, Louie’s life hasn’t been easy so far. He and his friend were living in a bus lot for eight weeks during our winter freeze, struggling to survive in a tough and cold environment. Tragically, Louie was hit by a car during this time, and another dog from their group went missing. Thankfully, a skilled trapper was able to rescue Louie and his friend Jetson, bringing them to safety where they’ve been healing. Though Louie is still a little shy at first, he’s warming up to people and starting to come out of his shell. He’s been in foster home recovering from his orthopedic surgery from his broken leg, and has been great with dogs of all sizes and doesn’t mind cats, so if you have other pets, he’ll fit right in. Louie loves to play with other dogs. He’s quiet, well-mannered, and calm in the house, and he’s already kennel trained and potty trained. Louie is neutered, heartworm tested, up to date on vaccines, and current on preventatives like ProHeart and Bravecto. He’s microchipped, and after his accident, he now has fully recovered, which has helped him get back to his playful self.
