Story
He’s a throw pillow that growls sometimes. This is the best description of Jameson that we could come up with. Jameson’s favorite thing to do is sleep on the couch and his second favorite thing is eating. He does not do much else and is very pillow-like. We think Jameson is around 8-10 years old and he has had both eyes removed so he is completely blind. But, he still manages to get up the 2 steps to the couch and find his “spot”. Jameson weighs 18 lbs. When Jameson first arrived, we could not touch him without him snapping. He was scared, blind, and in pain. After a few weeks he became comfortable with us and we could pet him and pick him up. He started to recognize our voices and we gained his trust by going slow and not pushing him. He will need an adopter who is patient and doesn’t expect a dog who is immediately loving and cuddly. Jameson can get there but it will take time. Jameson is fine with other dogs as long as they don’t jump on him or step on him. Then he can snap. But, he does not go out of his way to interact with other dogs. Jameson loves to eat and feeding time is the only time we hear him bark. Jameson is neutered, up to date on vaccines, recently had full blood work and recently had surgery to remove his remaining eye. He had a mass removed months ago that was benign. Adoption Donation   $ 499 Located: MS (Transportation costs included to the Northeast , plz ask for more details) Age: approx.  5 years old Weight:   lbs. Uno was found on side of road. He had been attacked by another dog. As a result he lost his left eye and his care was taken over by one of our Southern rescue partners. Cats unknown as he wasn't fostered with cats. He is a very handsome, laid back and sweet boy who loves people and other dogs.  If you are interested in adopting me, please fill out an application on our website  www.fohari.org  and email my foster parent for more information:  friendsoha@yahoo.com Please verify the location and readiness of this dog with us.  Because we save lives from various locations through out the United States, some dogs may not be in New England yet, nor ready for immediate adoption.   Our adoption application can be found here: https://fohari.org/application/  Our Adoption Process:   Go to our website and select the animal you are interested in. ALL animals are in foster homes as we do NOT have a  shelter where you can visit. Some animals are in foster care in New England, and some are located in other states. If the initials following the animals name are a state, then that is the state where the animal is located. If initials are not a state, then those are the initials of the foster home outside of New England and you will not be able to meet the animal ahead of time. Complete our online application You will be contacted by phone or email by the foster parent  or a member of our adoption team and will have the opportunity to find out more about the animal, and ask any questions that you have to ensure the animal is a good fit for your household. If the animal is local, you can meet the animal, but you would not be able to take the dog home until you are approved to adopt.  From our end, we will check references and schedule a home visit.  If you live in an apartment, or a condo, we will need to verify permission to own the animal from your landlord or condo board. Please let your vet’s office and references know we will be contacting them. If your  references are positive, we will schedule a home visit by a volunteer. Please try to accommodate the home visit volunteer as most  have busy schedules. Delays in the visit will result in a delay in the adoption. Once you are approved, you will receive an e-mail with your  adoption contract attached. This e-mail will have details about pick up, the balance of the adoption fee that is owed, etc. Please email your signed & witnessed contract and pay your adoption fee in full, and for any animals located out of state, you will be contacted for details about transport to New England. Once you have paid your adoption fee in full and sent back your contract, you can make arrangement to pick up your animal from the foster home or from transport depending on where the animal is located. Please bring a harness, collar, ID tag and leash when you are picking up the dog unless otherwise instructed by the foster parent. Our extensive approval process is intended to ensure the best fit between our animals and adopters. Friends of Homeless Animals (FOHA) reserves the right to deny any adoption application with or without disclosure of cause. Your adoption fee helps to cover the cost of all age appropriate vetting and transportation. FOHARI.ORG makes no explicit or implicit guarantees in reference to the health, temperament and/or the breed of the animal. The animal is adopted ‘as is’, and the adopter assumes all responsibility for treatment of any and all existing conditions or any other conditions of physical or temperament changes that may occur. FOHARI.ORG will provide the animal with the basic vaccines, heart worm test and sterilization of dogs and cats before adoption if the age and current health of the animal permits. Story
Gizmo and Lulu are beyond perfection. They are funny, engaging and sweet. Perfect amount of energy for straight up companionship. Gizmo is an 11 year old, 20 lb. purebred Shih Tzu. Lulu is an 8 year old, 18 lb. mixed breed small dog. They are not siblings but have been together their whole lives. They are bonded and look out for each other and are always together but also want to snuggle with humans at the same time. They enjoy short walks and low key play time and get along with other dogs. They are perfect for a family looking for low maintenance fun fur babies. They are spayed, neutered and up to date on vaccines. We require adopters to have a safe and secure backyard - not electric or Fido fences as they are not as safe at containing dogs or keeping other animals or people out. For these reasons we do not adopt to homes with electric or Fido fencing. The adoption fee is $275 for each dog, which includes age appropriate vaccines, microchip, monthly flea, tick and heart worm preventatives at time of adoption.

Story
Please meet Poppy! She is a just turned 1 year old Shih Tzu/Chihuahua mix and weighs 8lbs. This sweet girl had a litter of 6 puppies at only 9 months old and is finally learning how to be a dog, now that the last of her babies have found homes. Poppy is a sweet and affectionate girl that needs to "get out in the world." Her perfect home will take her on adventures and help build her confidence to mature into the best dog she can be - she is a clean, blank slate! She is crate trained/pee pad trained and is learning about utilizing the great outdoors for her potty breaks. Poppy is happy to make friends with smaller friends (under 25lbs), but does not want to share a home with big puppers. She adores her 11 year old human foster sister and would be thrilled to have older kids in her home. Bonus - Poppy ADORES men, a rare find in the rescue world. She completely would thrive and need a home with a man we have discovered, with possibl a very patient female resident to build a relationship with her. For more information about Poppy, please contact Michelle at michelle.p@poainc.org For more information about Poppy, please contact Michelle

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Louie, a sweet Pekingese mix who is ready to find his forever home. Born around January 9, 2025, and weighing about 14 lbs, Louie’s life hasn’t been easy so far. He and his friend were living in a bus lot for eight weeks during our winter freeze, struggling to survive in a tough and cold environment. Tragically, Louie was hit by a car during this time, and another dog from their group went missing. Thankfully, a skilled trapper was able to rescue Louie and his friend Jetson, bringing them to safety where they’ve been healing. Though Louie is still a little shy at first, he’s warming up to people and starting to come out of his shell. He’s been in foster home recovering from his orthopedic surgery from his broken leg, and has been great with dogs of all sizes and doesn’t mind cats, so if you have other pets, he’ll fit right in. Louie loves to play with other dogs. He’s quiet, well-mannered, and calm in the house, and he’s already kennel trained and potty trained. Louie is neutered, heartworm tested, up to date on vaccines, and current on preventatives like ProHeart and Bravecto. He’s microchipped, and after his accident, he now has fully recovered, which has helped him get back to his playful self. Louie is looking for a patient, loving family who will allow him to continue healing and growing into the wonderful companion he’s meant to be. His adoption fee is $400, and is currently located in Texas but is eligible for transport to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago, Des Moines, Omaha, Cincinnati, Lexington (Kentucky), or anywhere along the East Coast. Please note there is an additional transport fee of $225, and we cannot transport to Rhode Island or Massachusetts due to state regulations. If you think you could be the right family for Louie, please apply today at www.adoggie4you.org. Louie is ready to blossom into a loving, playful, and loyal friend for the right person or family.
