Story
Kiwi is very much a companion animal he wants to be near his person and will sit at your feet or on your lap for hours. He is very eager to please. Kiwi had parvo very badly as a young puppy so he was having difficulty with knowing when he had to go to the bathroom. He still has a disconnect between knowing that he has to go and alerting you. When he has to go he has difficulty holding it Which makes it imperative that you're willing to let him consistently. He is getting better as the ages so perhaps training and time will alleviate the issue. He's very sweet and loving which makes it worth the effort. He will need a fenced yard. His adoption fee of $300 includes neuter, microchipped and vaccinations We are located in the Colorado Springs area. All adoptions require a home visit. Please apply at www.whimperstowags.org under forms.November 12, 2024, 11:37 pm

Story
Meet Benny, a spirited four-year-old mixed breed from Denver, CO, whose heart is as vast and loving as the great outdoors he adores! Benny's a delightful blend of Shih Tzu, Great Pyrenees, American Pitbull Terrier, and Australian Cattle Dog, wrapped in a handsome charcoal gray coat with charming white accents. This medium-sized, forty-one-pound adventurer is more than just a pretty face—he's a bundle of energy and affection ready to find a new loving home. (see DNA results in the pics)Benny is the epitome of a nature lover. His happiest moments are spent hiking through trails, camping under the stars, or exploring the wilderness with his trusted companions. He’s at his best when he's outside, where he can freely roam and let his playful spirit shine. His recall is impressive, making him an excellent off-leash companion on those outdoor escapades. Whether it’s running through a yard or sniffing the breeze during a car ride with the windows down, Benny revels in every moment of outdoor joy!At home, Benny is a big-time cuddler! He’s as goofy as he is loving, always ready to curl up next to you after a day of fun. He’s incredibly well-trained, knowing commands like sit, stay, down, place, shake, sit pretty, wait, off, and heel. Benny’s training doesn’t just stop at obedience—he’s also crate trained, house-trained, neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on all his vaccinations. While Benny thrives outdoors, apartment living was previously a challenge due to the overstimulation it brings, so no apts for him. He can be reactive on the leash, especially when faced with loud noises, men, other dogs, or fast-moving objects like skateboards. However, in an environment where he has space to run and explore, his true, joyful personality comes to life. Benny does well with other dogs, making him a great addition to a multi-pet household!Benny's ideal new family would have a fenced yard where he can stretch his legs and play to his heart's content. A canine buddy to romp around with would be the icing on the cake, as Benny has always enjoyed the company of other dogs. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving, and adventurous companion, Benny might just be the perfect match for you! Story
Rhino is a very lovable boy, full of energy and LOVES to play fetch with squeaky toys. He is very smart, yet still has some issues to work on. He can be in a home with other dogs, but preferably female dogs. He can be around other male dogs, but is slightly aggressive at first until he gets to know them. We are choosing to re-home him as he was supposed to be a playmate for our other dog and unfortunately his presence has made her revert back to some old ways.

Story
HIGHLIGHTS:Needs another dog in the homeNeeds a fenced-in backyardNeeds a quiet homeMeet Radar, a courageous little 9-pound Shih Tzu Poodle who has made remarkable strides since joining his foster home. Once very fearful, Radar is showing his brave side every day, gaining confidence and trust in both his foster family and himself. He absolutely adores his dog friends, and nothing makes him happier than seeing a familiar pup — his tail wags so fast it’s a blur! He’s even started to eagerly approach the door for his daily walks, proudly wearing his coat and harness without fuss, a big step from when he needed coaxing with chicken. Walks have become a new favorite, and he’s even showing off his calm and friendly nature around larger dogs at the park.Radar still appreciates his personal space, especially with new people, but if you’re patient, he’ll gradually come out to explore and get comfortable. He’s learning to enjoy time with his foster family in the living room, soaking up the company of his foster siblings and discovering new treats, like licky mats with scrambled eggs. Radar is happiest in a calm, quiet home with at least one confident dog buddy to show him the ropes. He’d love a cozy dog bed to share, and ideally, a yard to explore safely as he continues his journey to trust. Radar’s journey has already been so inspiring, and he’s just looking for a patient, loving home to help him keep growing into the confident, sweet boy he’s meant to be.- - - - -Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. We typically do not adopt to homes with young children. Homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Common skills such as house training and leash walking will often take a little extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, most of these dogs come around rather quickly and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience. Could your lap be the one she’s been waiting for? Stay tuned as we learn more about this precious pup!- - - - -Before being rescued, many of our dogs have had limited socialization, so they may need a bit of time to adjust to life as a family pet. Older kids are often a great fit for our dogs, and homes with younger children will be considered based on each dog’s individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may take a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of these dogs adapt quite quickly. Story
Meet Pippi: The Adorable ExplorerPippi is an 8-pound Shih Tzu with a heart as sweet as her name. While she’s a little skittish at first—especially when it comes to being picked up—she shows so much potential for bonding with someone who will give her time and patience to trust. Her favorite pastime is exploring the yard, sniffing every corner and tracking every scent. While she doesn’t walk on a leash just yet, her love of treats will make training easier in the future.Pippi’s haircut is sure to melt hearts, and her curious nature shows she’s ready to learn and grow.
