Story
Susie is a sweet, little, 6ish year old girl looking for just the right home. She loves car rides and at only 8 lbs, she’s the perfect go-anywhere size. She protests while in her crate because she’d much rather be with you – which has landed her a spot in her foster parent’s bed at night (clever girl, no shared walls please). She is required to spend time in there when her foster mom can’t bring her along as her house training is still a work in progress. Susie thinks she can go wherever the cats go and is extremely food motivated to do so (see photos within her profile). 🤦🏼‍♀️. She has the most precious zoomies at feeding time and when her humans get home that make her utterly irresistible. Susie is dog and kid friendly but doesn’t require either in her forever home. She is fully vetted including an extensive dental and was treated for a mild case of heart worms after she arrived into Colorado. Susie is being fostered in Loveland, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/susie/. Story
Shaggy is a 3(ish) year old Shih Tzu.  Shaggy ended up in a high kill shelter in Texas a few weeks back.  He was dirty and matted at the time.  It's hard to know if he ever truly had a family of his own, or what his story is, just like so many.  Shaggy has now been in CO for a couple weeks.  He has been groomed, fully vetted, and is ready to find his forever family.   Shaggy is a good boy.  He gets along great with other dogs, does well with kids, and does well with cats.  He is friendly and easy going.  He will need someone who is going to be be willing to get him groomed every few months to keep him looking handsome and adorable.  Shaggy has been through a lot in his short life so far and just wants a fammily of his very own who will love him unconditionally, like he loves them.  If you are interested in adopting Shaggy, please fill out our adoption application at brighterdaysdogrescue.com ##2226465##

Story
Halo is a 4 year old, 20lb Shih Tzu.  Halo was surrendered from his owners becayse she had a lot of dogs and wanted to downsize.  Halo is the cutest little boy who is missing half his jaw, so his little tongue hangs out of his mouth all the time - it might be the cutest thing ever! Halo needs an owner who is looking for a dog with a biiig, sassy personality.  Halo loves to snuggle and hang out with his foster Momma.  He gets along with other dogs and is great on a leash.  He is pretty well trained and listens well.  Halo is also a pretty stubborn little man.  If you are doing something he doesn't like (like giving him medicine or cleaning his years) he will let you know!  For some people this big personality is hilarous and they adore everything about him, but for others his big personality it a little too much.  This is the same with dogs for Halo.  He gets along great with other dogs, but if another dog steps on him, or tried to play with him when he isn't into it, he lets his annoyance known, so another easy going dog who isn't all over him all the time, or have a super dominant, snappy personality would be best for this little man.  Halo is sooo good and sooo deserving of the best forever family.   If you are interested in adopting little Halo, please fill out our adoption application at brighterdaysdogrescue.com ##2234207##

Story
Jimmy is 11 pounds of sweetness and spunk. We believe he is a Shih Tzu and about 3 years old.  He loves running around the yard with his foster dog siblings, and being cuddled by his foster human. Jimmy is mostly potty trained but will need a little work and patience in his forever home in a new environment.  He loves to play with tiny balls and chew toys. He is a great little boy and just needs a forever family of his own for the holidays! Jimmy will need a family who can get him groomed every 6-8 weeks to keep him looking handsome and clean.   If you are interested in adopting Jimmy, please fill out our adoption application at brighterdaysdogrescue.com ##2249011##

Story
One of our compassionate Texas rescuers saved the life of this very sweet and irresistible Purebred Shih Tzu with hopes of him transporting to Colorado to find a new and wonderful life. Earl's family from birth decided (after 11 years) that he no longer fit into their household and off they sent him to a crowded high kill shelter. They appeared to have no care that their longtime and loyal companion was very likely going to be euthanized. Earl is about 11ish years old and pronounced very healthy by a Texas vet. This is such a great age..old enough to be very calm and cuddly, enjoying his time cuddling with his favorite people and young enough to have healthy years remaining. Shih Tzus, with great care, can have life spans up to approximately 19 years old. Our sweet Earl weighs 15 pounds of cottony-coat fluffiness. This little guy was so matted that he was shaved to the skin. This will give his new coat a chance to grow in with gorgeous non-shedding hair that Shih Tzus are famous for. Earl will require a lifelong commitment to periodic grooming (approximately 4 times per year) and excellent nutrition including 5 star food and a daily salmon oil supplement for a healthy coat and a long life. Earl is such a devoted and smart little guy. He know he's safe and is now more relaxed and far less fearful and shy. Earl is emerging since he's been with his rescuer. Initially this poor guy was so frightened due to all the changes in his life but with patience and love, he's truly blossoming! Earl has made progress each and every day and is on his way be being a well-adjusted guy who is open to new relationships and adventures. Earl loves his walks where he can socialize with dog-loving neighbors (won't he be perfect for those gorgeous days leisurely exploring the paths around his home? Earl also loves his couch time that includes periodic hugs, praise and treats that make Earl feel so good about himself. Earl is such a fun and silly guy that we hope his new family will choose to spend lots of time enjoying his antics. Every day when Earl's rescuer comes home from errands, she's greeted by a very joyous and loving Earl giving happy kisses with a helicopter tail. He's a love bug that will be initially shy due to all the changes in his life, but with time and love, he emerges with his waggy tail and sweet smile. Farfel's Rescue has made the decision that we'd like to see Earl in a home with loving and devoted retirees that spends lots of time at home...or enjoy taking their furry best friend along. A younger family that works from a home-based office would also be a good choice for this people-loving guy. Earl is also a perfect take-along sized guy...it's so easy to just scoop him up and snuggle him under your arm. He enjoys the car and is very happy riding strapped into his car seat so he can watch the activity going on around him.. Earl is at his absolute best with adults. He's much more comfortable with quiet energy...a walk followed by time on the couch or bed watching a favorite TV show would speak to this little dog. He would be overjoyed to be part of a family of older or lower energy folks. It would match his own energy level and he would be a loyal, full-time best friend. Earl is unknown with cats. He's compatible, however, with like-sized dogs with similar energy levels to his own...but doesn't require these relationships to be happy. We wonder if Earl wouldn't be at his best as an only dog with a family that will shower full-time love and pampering on him. He would return that love and kindness a million times over as he falls more and more in love with his family. Earl is a non- shedding guy (and considered to be one of the most hypoallergenic breed mixes available today). Earl will therefore require a lifelong commitment to periodic grooming and excellent nutrition. A daily salmon oil supplement coupled with 5 star food is a great regimen to keep his cottony-soft coat healthy, cottony-soft and matt-free. Earl will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Wednesday 9/29/2021. If interested in this gorgeous and very cuddly, loyal and loving best friend, please fill out an application completely at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit. **PLEASE NOTE**. If you're truly interested in adopting Earl, please be sure to submit the Farfel's Rescue adoption application that can be found at the link above or at farfels.com. Rescue site applications such as Petfinder, Rescueme or Adoptapet don't provide enough information for us to determine a great match for this very deserving dog.. and therefore aren't useful. We're sorry, but in most circumstances, we're unable to get back to those those that don't submit a Farfel's adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue!

Story
Ziggy is an incredibly cute ball of cottony fluff that once comfortable in his new home, will climb into your heart (and lap) with a wag and a kiss. What isn't obvious in these unclear images (we've requested new photos and will post when received) is how truly beautiful this dog is with his sweet smile and shining dark eyes filled with so much wisdom. At just about 6 - 7 years old and 24 lbs, Ziggy is a perfect size to accompany his family just about everywhere a sweet, smaller dog is welcome, He would love to join his people for backyard play, long walks enjoying the Colorado sunshine and end of day snuggles on the couch are perfect for this loving and sweet as can be little guy. Ziggy is every bit the engaging dog once he's grown comfortable in his new environment. His nature is to be a happy and good-natured pup who falls deeply in love with his family. Ziggy will blossom when given a bit of time and nurturing. He will understand what pure love feels like and he'll be absolutely overjoyed! Our wish for Ziggy is a family that understands, and is patient with a dog that has gone through trauma in his life. Farfel's has made a commitment to this wonderful pup, as we do to all our irresistible rescues, that we'll search until we find a forever family that loves, nurtures and respects him for the remainder of his life. At this point in Ziggy's development, he would love to be a forever best friend, but will hold back a bit until comfortable, If treated with patience during his acclimation to his new family, this sweet guy will shine. We want to nurture a positive vision of the world by matching Ziggy to a family who expresses their devotion for him in many different ways. We'd like Ziggy to attend positive reinforcement / force free virtual or in-person group obedience classes to be the very best dog he's capable of being. These classes develop very strong bonds between a family and their dog as well as teaching skills to enable that dog to socialize in the world with appropriate behavior. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of both virtual and in-person positive reinforcement / force-free trainers in your area. We feel that Ziggy would be most comfortable with an adult family (or older, dog-crazy kids would be perfect). He is a natural-born snuggler and a very loyal guy. We feel that Ziggy is too sensitive to be left alone while his family works full-time outside of the home. Retirees or those that work from a home-based office would be a great choice for our lovable Ziggy. Right now Ziggy is a blank slate who will soak up positive feedback with every effort to be the best behaved and most cuddly guy around. Ziggy (once comfortable) is so loyal that he can easily be a constant companion. He would love nothing than backyard lounging and fun with his favorite people, trips to the store (he's a great window-shopping friend) or just lap-sitting at the end of a busy day would be perfect for this very loving guy. Ziggy will be flexible enough once comfortable that he can be introduced to virtually any situation, and if there is love and gentle guidance, he can succeed. Ziggy has been shaved to rid him of the huge matts he had been plagued with for so long. His new, non-shedding coat will grow in with the shining, cottony-soft hair that speaks of the Shih Tzu breed. Ziggy will therefore require a lifelong commitment to periodic grooming (approximately every 10 weeks) and great nutrition (a daily salmon oil supplement and 5 star food will be perfect for longevity and hair care) to keep his coat healthy, soft as cotton and matte-free. Ziggy has been fully vetted and vaccinated to support Farfel's commitment to adopting out only healthy dogs. He has also been neutered to be in line with our commitment to zero population growth in the canine community. Ziggy will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Saturday 12/28/2024. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested in this cuddly and sweet as can be best friend, please fill out our application completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Ziggy please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in many cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
