Story
We have a transport where we will be personally taking our dogs home leaving on 2/21/25 to NorCal and OR. Surrounding states will be added to our route if needed ☺️ We would love to add Lizzy to our trip for the right home 💕
Meet Lizzy. She is a beautiful shih tzu mix. Mom was a purebred shih tzu, and dad was a shih tzu/poodle mix. She looks more shih tzu than anything and is beautiful nonetheless 😍 She turned 1 year of age on 2/3/25. She is spayed, current on vaccines, microchipped, had a dental cleaning, along with a hernia repaired at time of her spay, and had an overall wonderful exam with our vet who has cleared her to find a home all her own!
She has a very CALM demeanor, and is always lounging somewhere around the home whether on a dog bed, or inside a dog crate. She is very independent and will nap throughout the day while you are busy with yours if needed. She doesn't ask for much at all, aside from knowing breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be served 🙃 She is very content just being a part of your world, however she fits into it!
She is wonderful with all dogs and cats alike. She is a beautiful part of our pack here, and is a friend to all. She does enjoy playing with other calm natured, sweet, playful dogs. She doesn't seek them out, but is always readily available to hang with them if they come to her ❤️ She however, doesn't need animal companionship in her next home as she is very confident all by herself, and would equally enjoy being her persons friend 💕
She is NOT a barker, and while alert of unfamiliar noises doesn't tend to investigate them unless they really spark her curiosity. She listens very well, and has great eye contact so it has made training very easy with her. She aims to please, and is always ready to do as you ask (if she isn't too comfortable that is 😂 because then it may take some convincing but nothing a special treat wouldn't help fix 😊.)
She is amazing on road trips, and loves to travel around town every chance she gets so we take her with us when we can to fill her little heart with some road time! She is very good at the groomers, and loves being dolled up 🥰 She is always excited when she realizes our trip leads us to her fave groomer 😊
She is house trained, and will happily go outside to use the restroom when asked to. She loves to walk around the yard and get in her daily exercise 😂 or sunbathe if the weather is nice enough to do so! We have her on a pretty great schedule and take her out every 3-4 hours and never has any accidents in between. She is really great ❤️
She is crate trained and has no problem sleeping in her crate at night if needed. She does however sleep on a dog bed in our room at the moment which she loves, so either sleeping arrangement would work for her as she wouldn't fuss either way!
She is leash trained, and would very much rather get her exercise at with with a walk the neighborhood, so if you are looking for a reason to get your steps in, I'm sure Lizzy would convince you she is all the reason you'll ever need ❤️❤️❤️
Her prior owner faced a lot of medical issues with her aging mother and with her across the country had to make the hard decision to move back home to care for her. She would have loved to take Lizzy with her, but knew her life itself would change drastically and didn't want Lizzy to feel any of that change so she reached out to us to take her in and find her a great home ❤️
Her adoption fee is on our website at the bottom of her adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/lizzy-1
While great, it barely covers half of what we spent in vet care alone, but having her feeling 100 percent is all that matters to us in the end!
It covers her spay, dental cleaning and extractions (she had quite a few extractions due to an infection in her gums sadly that her prior owner was unaware of. She has more than enough teeth left to eat a normal diet, and no her tongue doesn't stick out!) It also covers her umbilical hernia repair that was done at time of her spay, her vaccines, microchip/registration, antibiotic injection given to aid in her spay, dental cleaning/extractions, and hernia repair, her exam with our vet which included the exam of her ears which were in great health, and as always it helps contribute towards the care involved in the time she has been with us, her grooming costs, and the training we have personally done with her ❤️
