Story
PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION THIS IS BLISS (April, 2024) ...a wonderful, blissful little 14 lb,  5 yr old, b/w Shih Tzu, who came from the Riverside Shelter with a horrible case of kennel cough and a UTI.  We put her on antibiotics, which cured her UTI, but unfortunately it didn't stop her from getting a nasty case of pneumonia :(  Two weeks in the hospital and back at home, Bliss is a different dog!  Minute she came home, she was so excited, jumping all around, playing with her toys and just acting like a puppy!! With us, this little girl was the sweetest... potty trained, but we never guarantee.  When she goes out to do her business, she is pretty quick!  She will use a pp pad if you don't get her out 2-3 times daily, but she seems to hold it.  Loves to ride in the car and just go everywhere with you if you'll take her!  When you cuddle with her, she will stay in your arms forever as you pet and caress her body!   Our thinking is she was probably with a good intentioned, but not knowledgeable family.  With good nourishment (she loves to eat) some time, and a bit of patience, she will be a phenomenal addition to any family.  Just started to give a few kisses, and she loves to chase toys!  April, 2024 Bliss found her home...but not her forever home :(  CUT TO:  December, 2024  We are not sure why, but Bliss was not content in her adoptive home.  She was nippy with children and people wearing uniforms.  She was good with her dad but not so much with her mom, so she has been returned.  Once she nipped her in the nose, that was that.  We are currently evaluating her behavior, as we were told she was unpredictable with her adoptive mom, just never the dad.  We are thinking she might prefer men, so we are looking for a family for her with men and no children. In addition, the ideal home for Bliss would be one where you are home a lot to give her the attention and exercise she needs to see the world.  She seems to have developed fearful tendencies...so she will need time to acclimate.  Loves other dogs, but we're not sure if she needs another dog or not.  We think she could go either way...all depending on you.  Experienced parents would be best, just in case. Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, groomed, vet checked, dewormed, deflea'd and come with a leash, collar and ID If you are interested in adopting a pup from Lhasa Happy Homes, please complete the Adoption Application before calling. PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION FRANNIE HAS FALLEN FOR PIRATE AND WANTS TO BE HIS FOREVER SISTER… THEY ARE A BONDED PAIR MEET MS. FRANNIE….and this petite, sweet little b/w, 9.7 lbs, 5 yr old, Shih Tzu munchkin is perfection! She is pint size but she has enough love to give an army! She was dumped in the North Central Shelter with four puppies! They were adorable but they looked nothing like her! Other rescues opted for the puppies, we took Mama. So glad we did! Frannie is super affectionate and loving and wants to be right with you. When you pick her up, she clings to you like she is hanging on for dear life. She has hidden energy and lets you see it once she is out and playing! When she plays, believe it or not she plays hard!! Yet, she will climb up to kiss a baby and is gentle as she can be. She is wonderful on a walk, usually does her business after a little while of exploring and is happy to greet strangers on the street! She is friendly with everyone…AND she has fallen for her foster roommate, Pirate!! Frannie and Pirate love for you to throw toys and Frannie will dance around but doesn’t know what to do with them! She’s also great eater and is very playful — but can also be shy at first and hide under the couch! When she hears “let’s go for a walk….” she is ready! Now that she has Pirate as her buddy, she doesn’t hide anymore! Frannie could go into almost any home but we have learned she would prefer a home where she can cuddle with another small dog AND she wants that dog to be PIRATE. She would be good with kids over 8 yrs old — maybe a little girl wants to dress her up! They are really so special and they are looking for a family and hopefully a yard to play with Pirate! Do Frannie and Pirate sound like they could be your next children? Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria. Story
PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION PIRATE HAS FALLEN FOR HIS FOSTER ROOMIE, FRANNIE AND WANTS TO GO HOME WITH HER!!! MEET PIRATE…a one-eyed,tri color, 2 yr old, 12.20 lb absolutely adorable Shih Tzu X. Not sure if he is purebred or not, but it makes no difference to us. What we can tell you about this little guy is he was brought to the San Bernardino Shelter with his eye dangling and their best estimation was he was hit by a car and left on the side of the road. They got him to the vet and had his eye removed! AND…the vet did a really good job! We don’t know what his previous home was like, but they opted not to pick him up at the shelter when they heard about the fees they would have to pay. OMG their loss, our/your gain. Pirate is a precious soul! He’s young, soooooo affectionate, attentive, happy. He will sit on his hind legs and watch while you prepare his dinner…and he is a great eater! He LOVES his walks, belly rubs AND his foster roommate Frannie — not necessarily in that order!! The two of them played in the yard and she wasn’t quite as much of a player as he was but she caught up and didn’t want to stop! See the video and pics. Just cannot separate them!! Pirate waits for Frannie to get her food before he eats!!! Pirate likes to chase toys but doesn’t bring them back yet — she helps! They love to cuddle and kiss (with each other and you) and be right with you! They would love a yard to fun around in, each other and you! Would you bring an “arrrgh” Pirate and a sweet Frannie to live and love in your home? They are waiting!! Our website is updated daily. Story
Hi there! I’m Lenny, a sweet 7-year-old Shih Tzu with a heart full of love. I may be totally blind, but my spirit shines bright! Weighing 14 lbs, I love my leash walks and enjoy exploring the world through my other senses. I need a home where I can feel safe, as I can get anxious when alone. I’m still learning to be housebroken and need to wear a diaper, but with your patience, I know I can thrive! I don’t wear a halo and can’t do stairs, but I promise to fill your life with cuddles and joy. If you’re looking for a furry friend to share your heart with, don't look further! Let’s make my wish for a forever home come true! 🐾❤️

Story
PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION MEET DANDELION….”Dandi” to his friends. This precious baby, who was born on 5/27/2024, is a white, presently 5 months old and 7-8 lbs, purebred Shih Tzu. His human mom is beside herself because she doesn’t feel her home is the right fit for Dandi. She has two cats, and even though Dandi wants to play with them, they are not having it. Since Dandi is only a puppy…she feels he needs the right environment and lifestyle to set him up for success and one that he will thrive in, and so she is counting on us to find that home for him. That being said….. Dandi is very, very friendly; loves other dogs, people, kids, cats, even leaves flying in the wind! As all puppies are, he is curious and ready to experience the world! People have often complimented him on his confidence and bravery as he loves BIG dogs! Zero aggression, just assumes everyone is his friend and doesn’t pick up on a hiss or a growl! Gives kisses, loves to play with toys, steals socks (will make you a better housekeeper!). His lack of focus is difficult for his first time pet owner family. The ideal home for Dandi would be one with another active, confident dog — big or little — who can show him the ropes as he learns how to be a good playmate. Gentle kids and a backyard to give him a place to exercise and blow off some of his puppy energy would be perfect! Regardless, he definitely needs attentive owners ready to commit to basic training to help him become the wonderful puppy we know he is. AND believe it or not…Dandi knows commands like sit, lay down, come, wait, leave it, cross (the street) and “be free” released to exit his crate! My dogs don’t even know all those commands! He’s working on potty training and doing really well. He is crate trained. At the end of the day, Dandi needs a home that will nurture and bring out the best in him. Training is essential, as few puppies come with a manual — that manual is YOU! If you have the right tools and temperament and you are looking for a wonderful puppy…look no more. Dandi is waiting. Story
PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION MEET COLBY…and Mr. Colby has had a rough start in life. This 12.5 lb, 3 yr old, silver/gold/black Shih Tzu/Yorkie was given to a family as a newborn after an “accident” happened with a friend’s dog. After a couple of years, they didn’t want him anymore…no reason given. Then given to another friend, her husband didn’t like him so after 9 months (in which time they never neutered, groomed or bathed him once) they gave him to LHH to rehome. When he first arrived, Colby had almost no personality. We got him neutered, groomed and gave him lots of love and the light came back into his eyes. He seeks out love and attention now and cries when you leave him behind. He settles down, but we believe he would be happiest in a home where he is not left alone — would be great with another small dog who he can play with and help him feel secure. Colby is very gentle, so he would likely be great with kids over 5 yrs old. He is very smart, listens and stays when you tell him to stay. Walks well on a leash and loves to meet other dogs in the neighborhood. He will likely need a little help with his potty training, but he is doing fantastic here! The ideal home will have another small dog, maybe a couple of kids and a family who will love his to life! Does that sound like you? If you don’t have another dog, but you are home and/or will take him with you…what he needs most is love. Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria. Story
Meet Leigha, a 8-year-old Shih Tzu who was rescued after being abandoned at a middle school. This little girl is the epitome of sweetness, with a heart full of love. Leigha loves to follow her favorite person around the house, always wanting to be close by. She thrives in the company of others, so she'd do best in a home with another dog (she's a big fan of her furry friends!) and with people who are home most of the day. Leigha can get a bit anxious if left alone, but does great if left with another friendly dog. She’s also a fantastic travel companion, enjoying car rides and outings. At night, she loves to curl up in bed with her family or is ok in bed with another dog. She also is ok being crated with another friendly dog (right now she is besties with a golden)! When it comes to walks, Leigha enjoys her time outside. We recommend her for a home with older kids (ages 4 and up) and someone who is ok with continuing her skin medication (helps with her allergies). We can not believe Leigha isn't adopted yet as she is sure to bring endless love and happiness to her new family! ##2054582##

Story
Meet Lil Ricky: The Heartwarming Survivor Introducing Lil Ricky, a delightful 4-year-old Shih Tzu-Terrier mix who embodies the spirit of resilience and joy! Found as a stray in the bustling streets of Los Angeles, Ricky's journey began at a high-kill animal shelter where he was left wondering why his previous owner never came to claim him. With his playful demeanor and loving personality, it was hard to understand how this sweet boy had been overlooked. As the shelter faced overcrowding and Ricky’s time was running out, an animal rescue initially stepped up to save him but then sadly never showed. Faced with the grim prospect of euthanasia, Ricky's fate took a turn when our nonprofit, Concerned Citizens Animal Rescue heard about his situation and rushed to his rescue. Despite the shelter's estimation of Ricky being 8 years old, our dedicated veterinarians assessed his youthful energy and sparkling spirit, concluding that he is likely around 4 years old, based on his teeth and impressive stamina. This little polka-dotted bundle of joy is anything but a senior! He is up to date on vax. Microchipped and Neutered! Ricky is ready to fill a loving home with laughter and joy this holiday season. If you’re interested in making this charming pup a part of your family, please reach out to us at info@concernedcitizensanimalrescue.org for an adoption application. Let’s give Lil Ricky the happiest holiday ever and the forever home he truly deserves!

THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION MEET ACE….and he's a special guy!  This 15 lb, 3.5 yr old, tan/golden, Lhasa Apso X, came from the Carson Shelter, after another rescue pulled his brother and left him behind.  Poor guy has been through hell, as this was his second abandonment after his thoughtless owners dumped them both in the shelter “because they were moving!!”  This broke our hearts.  I jumped into my car, pulled him out and immediately took him to the groomer and bathed him myself!  Once groomed, we came home and he felt soooo much better! Ace is a big cuddler and kisser with his peeps, once he has proven he likes you.  Recently, we have learned that he doesn't seem to like other dogs and will lunge with most until he gets to know them.  He is BFFs with Jett, but goes after many of our other rescues.  He has a ton of energy and likes to jump up on you, so we think he’d be best in a home without young kids or seniors, especially with his need for training.  We have found he is partial to female dogs and loves to play but seems to be challenged by male dogs.  He does not like being left alone, so he might be best with a female -- perhaps a bit bigger than he is -- one who is submissive and won't challenge him.  OR as your companion where he is rarely left alone.  We know nobody is home 24/7!  He's fine with some dogs (unless he's in a mood), but when you are around he doesn’t like them usurping his glory!  He wants all your love!!   He'd be happy as your one and only if you have time to give him oodles and oodles of love and attention.   This boy is a great eater and isn't fussy.  He is very playful with his two female roomies and with his foster mom.  He is pretty quiet, even when left alone he settles down.  Ace would be a fantastic companion for a runner, hiker, active person who loves to enjoy the outdoors.  He walks extremely well on a leash and does his business shortly after the walk begins!  That being said, if he can't get out and has to go...he will use a pp pad.  So far, we haven't seen him lift his leg, but no guarantees at your house!  While he isn't a lap dog, he would love nothing better to cuddle up to you when the day is done and fall asleep in your arms!  Does ACE sound like your kind of guy? Story
***ADOPTION PENDING*** PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION MEET DWEEZIL…. and there is no question, he is a rockstar! This adorable 12 lb, 2yr-old, tri-colored, Lhasa Shih Tzu mix came from the Harbor Animal Shelter and he was meant to come to LHH. Another person tried to adopt him after he had been available 10 days and we were on our way to get him. They did not have enough money, and they obviously were not the right home, so we picked him up and brought him directly to our groomer. Picture #4 shows you how matted this poor baby was, and in obvious pain. Didn’t affect his personality whatsoever! Dweezil is very affectionate, high energy and happy go lucky, and he never complained!! He is a sweetheart and will fall asleep in your arms while you rub his belly. Dweezil loves everyone and is eager to please. He is kissy, active, extremely playful, loves walks and toys and is a very happy pup! The best home for him would be one where there is another young dog to have oodles of fun and playtime with, and one where he will get an abundance of love and attention. He would do well with kids, as he’s very gentle and gets along with everyone. He loves to eat, is not picky about his meals and snacks and shares well with his foster bros. We are working on his potty training and it’s going very well, but no guarantees at your house. He is potty-pad trained. He could use some leash training as he gets very excited to be outside and he will pull. Good exercise for you both! Dweezil will be at our adoption events until he finds his forever home! We know he won’t last long so if you’re interested, please apply! Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria.
