Story
Meet Yoda! Yoda is a unique and lovable 4-month-old puppy searching for her forever family. Her journey began with a challenging start, given away far too young in front of a convenience store in Fresno. Thankfully, a kindhearted person stepped in, ensuring Yoda and her siblings stayed safe with their mama. Now thriving in foster care in the Bay Area, Yoda is ready to bring her playful spirit and big personality to a loving home. This adorable, likely Shih Tzu-dachshund mix currently weighs about 6 pounds and is expected to grow to 14 pounds or less, just like her mama, a dachshund Chiweenie. Yoda’s scruffy golden coat and striking black face give her a one-of-a-kind look, perfectly complemented by her oversized “helicopter” ears that never fail to steal the show. Her coat is low-shed and will benefit from regular brushing to maintain its charming texture. Personality & Looks: Yoda is as lively as she is lovable! Her sunny personality shines through in everything she does. She’s adventurous, curious, and always ready for fun. Whether she’s exploring the yard, wrestling with her siblings, or soaking up cuddles, Yoda brings joy wherever she goes. She’s dog-, cat-, and kid-friendly, making her a great fit for a variety of family types. She’s almost ready to begin formal training and will thrive in a home that provides structure, time, and space for her to play and learn. Like her siblings, Yoda would love to have another dog around to keep her entertained and help her grow—she’s happiest when she has a furry friend to play with. We’re looking for a family who: Has the time and energy to dedicate to training and socialization. Doesn’t work long hours outside the home. Has a yard for Yoda to explore and enjoy. Yoda is ready to spread her wings (or ears!) and find a family who will cherish her quirky charm and loving nature. If you’re searching for a loyal, playful, and utterly unique companion, Yoda might be the perfect match for you! In the event your application isn't accepted or might be a better fit for another dog, we will provide feedback and suggest alternative matches. Story
Meet Alex! Alex is a delightful 4-month-old puppy looking for his forever family. He got a rough start in life, given away far too young in front of a convenience store in Fresno. Thankfully, a kind soul intervened, keeping Alex and his siblings safe with their mama. Now thriving in foster care in the Bay Area, Alex is ready to find a home filled with love and adventure. This adorable, likely Shih Tzu-dachshund mix weighs about 6 pounds and is expected to grow to 14 pounds or less, just like his mama, a dachshund Chiweenie. While his dad is a mystery, he must have had some non-shedding genes, giving Alex a low-shed coat that doesn’t require professional grooming but will benefit from regular brushing. Personality & Looks: Alex is one of the two boys in the litter, with a striking salt-and-pepper coat that’s primarily black. He’s spunky, affectionate, and loves to wrestle and play. Alex is dog-, cat-, and kid-friendly, making him a wonderful fit for many family dynamics. He’s almost ready to start formal training and walks and will thrive in a home that provides structure, time, and plenty of opportunities for playtime. Alex would do best in a home with another dog to learn from and keep him entertained, as he’s happiest with a constant play companion. We’re looking for a family who: - Has the time and resources to commit to training and socialization. - Doesn’t work 8-hour days outside the home. - Has a yard for Alex to romp in. Alex has come so far and deserves the very best. If you’re ready for unconditional love and puppy antics, Alex might be your perfect match! In the event your application isn't accepted or might be a better fit for another dog, we will provide feedback and suggest alternative matches. Story
We are currently on a transport in OR and NorCal and have Abbie with us. Her adoption fell through at the last minute to no fault of her own. We are praying she finds a home before we return home ❤️ Meet Abbie! She is a purebred shih tzu. She weighs right at the 7 lb mark. She turned 1 on 11/11/24. Yes, she is full grown and at a very healthy weight. She is just a naturally small girl ❤️ She is spayed, current on all vaccines, had a dental cleaning done at time of her spay, is microchipped, and had an overall wonderful exam with our vet who has cleared her to find a home all her own. She is house trained and does very well with having a schedule to go outside to potty, so we make sure to take her out every couple of hours and with that we don't have any accidents in the home. She has been introduced to a crate, but it is not her favorite place whatsoever so it's become obsolete in our home as we want it to be a place of comfort security for our dogs but for Abbie it hasn't been that, so to accommodate her little heart we just allow her to sleep on a dog bed aside ours at night and she does very well with that. She is a snuggler, and if you were okay with her in bed with you she would LOVE that sleeping arrangement even more ❤️ She is leash trained, and loves her walks however she can get them. She is VERY social. She loves being out and about enjoying her day whatever that may look like, especially knowing she gets to do so with her favorite human! She is wonderful with ALL animals. Loves dogs and cats alike, and if you have any other kind of animals I'm certain she would immediately become their friend as well as that's just how her heart functions. She is wonderful with men, women, and children alike! She is a natural sweetheart, and one that will instantly become a part of your own heart from the moment you meet her. She is NOT a barker at all, but is very observant of unfamiliar noise and while curious will wait for you to investigate it to make sure she is safe 😂 she is a total princess and puts her entire trust in her humans all the time! She has a very adventurous little spirit. LOVES road trips, and to visit new places. She will run and play in excitement in new areas, but always comes back to you because no matter how exciting life gets, it only gets better with YOU ❤️ She will do best in a home where her person is with her, as she is a true companion dog. Don't let her age fool you, because she truly is an old soul with a genuine love for everyone, and just wants someone to do life with 💓 She is not hard to please, so if you have a lap for her to lay on, an extra place on your bed, and a spare seat in your car then Abbie is the one YOUR life is missing, trust me!!! Her adoption fee in total is on our website at the bottom of her adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/abbie It covers her spay, vaccines, dental cleaning, microchip /registration, and exam with our vet. Her spay went perfect. She did end up needing a dental cleaning, but overall her teeth were in great health, she just needed a good cleaning and polish ❤️ Ears were examined, and were in great health. Overall exam was great. She was given an antibiotic injection to aid in both her spay, and dental cleaning. As always it also goes back into the overall care involved in the time she has been where with us, her grooming costs, and her training we have personally done with her 💕
