Story
Looks like: Shih Tzu Male, 13 years old (estimated), 19 pounds Adorable Brando would like to make you an offer you can't refuse! He is looking for a calm home with a sunbathing spot, belly rubs and treats, and slow, sniffy walks surveying his territory. In exchange, he can offer you a super easygoing, mellow temperament: he's good on leash, comfortable being left alone, not vocal, gets along with cats, and gets along with other dogs (though he is more interested in being a couch potato than playing). Brando is a friendly guy who loves meeting new people and loves to be handled and snuggled with. Bonus? Glimpses of his adorable tongue sticking out even when he's asleep. Brando may be spry for his age, but he would prefer to be in a home where the main focus is relaxing. Are you ready to welcome this cutie as the godfather of your home? Brando came to us as a stray picked up by Ventura County Animal Services.

Story
Looks like: Shih Tzu Female, 13 years old (estimated), 14 pounds Adorable Astrid gets along well with other dogs both big and small, always greeting with enthusiasm and a wagging tail. She'd love to land in a warm home with a person who can give her all the cuddles and snuggles she desires. This sweet squishy faced little lady has lived quite the life. We don't know what her days were like prior to joining POMDR, but she has definitely been through a lot. Astrid was found as a stray, a matted mess with numerous medical concerns. We can't wait to see Astrid's glow-up and to see her days improve in time. Astrid joined us from the Sacramento County Bradshaw Shelter. They felt that a rescue specializing in seniors would help Astrid find her perfect home.

Story

Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee. This dog will be at Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, January 25th from 12-3pm or until adopted. If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered.     Adoption Fee: $650   Flan is an 8 year old Shih Tzu x Lhasa Apso mix who’s as sweet as caramel and ready to make you his perfect family! Flan was surrendered to the shelter with some of his culinary companions due to a change in living circumstances. We were asked to take him in and happily agreed! We scooped up this handsome 10 pound boy and promised to find his amigos! Flan has a light shedding coat so he will require some grooming. If you’re ready to find your new favorite treat, come pick up some Flan!      Flan is a chill gentleman who can’t wait to make you his world! This dude adores his humans and according to his foster mom he is the best WFH buddy she’s ever fostered, as he is content to lounge near you during meetings. Flan is very even-tempered and fits in well to any environment he enters. He’s super flexible like that. Flan loves being outside and enjoying the sunshine but he isn’t super high energy. We call the window facing the street his “dog tv” as he amuses himself for hours watching the world go by. His current party trick is a fetch fake out… one day he will learn to bring it back he says! Flan lives life to the fullest and we know he will make every day an adventure once he joins your family! From walks to snuggles to playtime, he’s ready for it all!   Flan wakes up around 8 AM and heads out to potty with his foster siblings. After his breakfast, he goes on a short walk before he settles in for a morning nap. Flan alternates between snoozing, cuddling, playing, and sniffing around the yard for most of the day until his afternoon stroll. Dinner is served at 6 PM followed by an evening of play and cuddles. He sleeps through the night on a plush dog bed.  Flan currently lives with several dogs and cats and gets along well with them all. He would be a great companion for a home with a resident pet. Flan walks well on a leash and is working on his potty training. He loves meeting new people and is a great canine ambassador, but would do best in an adult only home. If you’re ready for a culinary companion, come and order some Flan!      Flan is an option for homes with prior dog experience. Kids should be over the age of 12.January 29, 2025, 4:26 pm

Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $850 Meet **Jelly Bean**, the pint-sized snuggle queen with a heart as sweet as her name! This 4 year old Shih Tzu is the definition of an easy-going love bug, happily fitting into any household with her charming personality and low-maintenance lifestyle. From the moment she arrived at her foster home, Jelly Bean made herself right at home—she gave the resident cat a polite hello, found the coziest spot on the couch, and declared herself the queen of cuddle time. Whether she’s lounging next to you, rolling into the perfect nap position, or gazing at you with those big, soulful eyes, Jelly Bean has mastered the art of making you feel like the most important person in the world (as long as you don’t expect her to eat from a regular bowl—she has *standards*, after all).   Jelly Bean’s daily routine is as delightful as she is. She patiently waits for her humans to wake up in the morning, enjoys a short stroll to take in the neighborhood sights and smells, and then settles in for a well-deserved nap. Throughout the day, she alternates between snoozing in her favorite spots and gently reminding you that belly rubs are a non-negotiable part of life. She’s playful but never over-the-top—expect occasional zoomies and gentle nibbles during playtime, which can easily be redirected to a toy. Whether she’s lounging in her X-pen while you’re out, charming strangers at an outdoor café, or bravely leading the way (for a little while) on a hike, Jelly Bean’s adaptable and laid-back nature makes her the perfect companion for any adventure—big or small.   Jelly Bean may be small, but her personality is larger than life. She’s polite to other dogs, respectful of cats, and an all-around friendly gal who loves meeting new people. While she’s not much of a barker, she *does* believe in expressing her thoughts when there’s food involved—like when you’re cooking and she thinks you need a friendly reminder that she’s right there, waiting for a taste. Her quirky habits, like needing a flat plate for meals and water bowls filled to the brim (because deep bowls are simply unacceptable for a face as flat as hers), only add to her irresistible charm. If you’re looking for a devoted, funny, and affectionate companion who’s just as happy cuddling on the couch as she is exploring the world by your side, Jelly Bean is the perfect match. All she asks in return is love, treats, and maybe a comfy spot next to you at bedtime. Jelly Bean is an option for a novice or experienced home. If there are children they need to be over the age of 5.January 27, 2025, 5:39 pm
