Shih Tzu Rescue of MN has five adorable Shih Tzu/Poodle/Yorkie mix puppies who are now available for adoption. The puppies were born on October 9th. There are two female and 3 male puppies. Their mom Nova, along with their foster parents, has been taking excellent care of the pups and they are healthy and happy! All of the puppies are social, happy and playful. Mel has been the tiny sister since she was born! She always had to fight a little harder to get what she wants. She is now growing into a confident pup who knows what she wants! Mel is usually the first one to crawl into your lap for a snuggle. If there is another pet in the home, she would do best with one that is gentle and easy going. After you submit your application, we will contact you by email to confirm your application. If approved, your family will then be invited to a meet and greet to be held for approved applicants only. Here are the adoption requirements for adoption of one of the puppies: * Because Shih Tzus often live 16+ years, applications will only be considered from age appropriate individuals who will be able to provide the care and activity necessary for the rest of the dog’s life. * A puppy’s new home could be an adults only home, but could also include children who have been around small dogs and have learned appropriate behavior with small dogs. * A new family must commit to training their new puppy and providing opportunities for the puppy to become socialized to people and other dogs. * Please keep in mind that when training a puppy they need to be able to go outside every 2 to 3 hours. So the new family must be able to initially accommodate this schedule until the puppy can be left for a longer period of time. * Another small, playful dog in the home would be considered, but is not a requirement. * Before adoption the puppies will have their puppy vaccines. The adoption contract will require you that have your new pup spayed or neutered and provide verification that it has been done. * Must live within 40 miles of the Minneapolis and St Paul, MN area. * The new family must be willing to keep in touch and follow up with Shih Tzu Rescue of MN. We also ask adopters to attend our rescue’s Rescue Reunion held in September each year. The puppy’s adoption fee is $470.00 plus $40.07 sales tax. There is an additional spay/neuter deposit of $150.00 which will be refunded upon proof of the procedure. So the total amount due upon adoption is $660.07.

I'm a very handsome Miniature Poodle, and I'm discovering the joys of comfort and love in my foster home. Each day brings me more confidence, and I'm eager to share my overflowing love with a special someone—maybe that's you! I am a bit timid, sudden movements, commotion, and loud noises still make me a bit uneasy. However, I'm getting better at facing these fears every day. When foster mom is still, I'm all about those loving pets and cuddles. But if she's on the move, I keep my distance—I even bolt if she walks toward me. I know commands like "outside" and "stop," and leash and potty training are still on my to-learn list. I'm 95% potty trained, especially with a consistent routine. A fenced yard is a must for my adventurous spirit. I'd love to have a canine companion to show me the ropes, help me 'dog' properly, and boost my confidence. We're working on some manners, and my foster pals are excellent teachers. Walking on a leash needs some practice, and a confident pal by my side would be perfect. Despite being easily startled and a bit hand-shy, I've found joy in playing with toys, furry friends, and even those mysterious creatures called cats. I'm all about giving kisses, nibbling fingers, and enjoying ear scratches. Zoomies are my specialty, especially in the fenced yard or on the stairs. I've got some manners to polish up, like waiting for my turn and distinguishing between toys and household items – hee hee! I may be a senior, but let me tell you, I’ve still got plenty of love to go around. I’m a total indoor dog—I mean, who needs the great outdoors when you’ve got all the cozy comforts of home, right? Whether it’s rain or shine, I’m perfectly content to do my business outside and then hurry back indoors for some quality snuggle time. I like couches, armchairs, and beds.  If they are good enough for humans, they are good enough for me! I enjoy sleeping in bed with the humans every night. Toys? Oh, I can’t get enough of them! Soft, crinkly, you name it—I’ll play with anything you give me.  I do not need a fenced yar, as long as you always go out with me.. Sure, I enjoy the occasional walk, but I’m not dependent on it for bathroom breaks. I’m more of a in-and-out kind of guy when it comes to outdoor activities. Plus, I’m not the best on a leash and new things can make me a little nervous, so having a safe and secure yard where I can play without worry sounds like a dream. But let me tell you, when it comes to snuggles, I’m the absolute best. I’ll cuddle up with you for hours on end, bringing joy and warmth to your home every single day. However, I can be a grumpy mold man and when I have had enough cuddling, I am not shy about letting you know.  While I have never bitten my foster mom or the Vet, it wouldn’t be truthful to say I never tried.  Luckily they have quick reflexes, because when I get crabby, I get crabby, if you know what I mean. I am prone to allergies and ear infections. To keep these in check, I am on the Adored Beast Leaky Gut allergy protocol.  I also eat raw rabbit, which is the best protein source for me.  I love it so much, there are no words!  I do still struggle with ear infections, regardless, and need weekly ear cleanings as well as daily ear drops.  All in all, my allergies have improved considerably since I started on this yummy food and supplements but they will be a life long challenge. I do also have dry eye, fairly common to my breed and I just need an eye drop in each eye, twice a day.  I don’t mind this at all because I know it will make my eyes more comfortable. Lastly, I was recently diagnosed with a grad 1-2 heart murmur, however I have exhibited no symptoms of heart disease. So if you’re looking for a an older gentleman who is a bit set in his ways but very sweet, a pup who’s just as happy playing with toys as he is snuggling up on the couch, then look no further—I’m your guy, Archie, ready to bring a whole lot of love into your life! P.S. My foster has chickens and ducks and I am fine with both, even when they free range around me. Based on this, I probably would not care about cats. I’m Brioche, a two-year-old miniature poodle, and I weigh around 10 pounds. My journey started a bit shaky—literally. When I first came into rescue, I was so scared of people and this big, confusing world. But with the help of my amazing foster family, both the humans and my doggo friends, I’m slowly blossoming into a confident poodle princess. When I’m feeling playful, I love to throw toys around and chase them—it’s like I play fetch with myself! I also enjoy chewing on bones and going for walks, especially when I’m feeling frisky. But what I really love is curling up next to my foster humans and dog friends for some good cuddles. I’m learning more each day that the world can be a safe and fun place, even though I still get a little nervous sometimes. Loud noises and certain people can spook me, so I do best with a double leash when we’re out and about, just to make sure I stay safe. Speaking of being outside, I’m working on my leash training, and I’m getting better every day. I’m also practicing my potty training – I am very good about going outside and using a potty pad if I can’t make it. I used to love my crate so much that I never wanted to leave, but now that I’m feeling braver, I’m not so into the whole crate thing. I don’t mind eating in there, but if you close the door, I’ll definitely let you know I’m not a fan! I’m also super attached to my foster dog siblings, especially the Cavaliers here. If I can’t see them, I get a little panicked, so another dog is required in my forever home to help me feel safe and confident. Oh, and did I mention I have the most beautiful blue eyes? I’m a total sweetheart who loves to cuddle and be close to my people. Watching me come out of my shell little by little has been really special for my foster family.
