Story
Meet Willow! This tiny queen, sunshine seeker, and professional napper's motto is peace, love, and belly rubs.
Willow is a 12-year old shih-tzu/poodle mix who was just hours away from being euthanized at a rural West Virginia shelter - because of diarrhea. The shelter even offered to cover her vet care, but her previous family still surrendered her. Thankfully, one of our volunteers stepped in, and now Willow is living her best life as a Miri’s girl.
This little lady is thriving in foster care. She’s mellow, independent, and happy to nap in whatever patch of sunlight she can find (seriously ~ she’s a master of hide-and-nap). She’s into belly rubs, soft beds, and being carried occasionally like the royalty she is. She doesn’t need constant attention, but she’s always down for some love.
Willow ets along amazingly with other dogs ~ even the grumpy ones are into her vibe. She’s been enjoying slow, sniffy walks and is basically on a mission to smell every blade of grass in the neighborhood.
Willow was overweight when she first arrived but she crushed her diet and lost all the excess weight! She has Cushings, a hormone issue that causes too much cortisol production and is easily manageable with daily Vetoryl - which she takes like a champ.
Willow was a bit chonky when she arrived, but she crushed her diet goals and now she’s fit, fabulous, and ready for forever. She has Cushing’s disease, which just means she takes daily meds (Vetoryl) and handles it like a total pro. Because of it, she does pee frequently ~ but she’s a pee pad champ once she knows the setup. She’s also been known to do an adorable little potty dance when she needs to go outside. Willow tends to mark inside when her foster siblings are home so she may do best in a home without other dogs.
She has some vision and hearing loss, but she’s working on her stair skills and doing great. She’s quiet (rarely barks), apartment-approved, and currently winning over everyone in her foster’s condo building.
Willow is just looking for a calm, loving place to soak up the sunshine and nap in peace. Could you might be her forever person?
