Story
LOOKING FOR THE RIGHT HOME:  Approx. 1 year old / Approx. 10 lbs. & needs to gain a little weight Hi, I’m Ellis!  I had a home, but due to family and work changes, they no longer have the time that having a dog requires, so Mostly Mutts agreed to help me find a new family. I’m in a great foster home while I wait to meet them!  • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I’m sweet and polite with the two dogs that are in my foster home – taking correction cues well from them.  So, if you have a nice dog at home, let’s meet! / I was interested in the kitty in my foster home at first, but now I mostly ignore her, and I responded well to a hiss when I sniffed a little too much for the kitty. So, if you have a cat, let’s meet. / I haven’t met kids yet since coming to Mostly Mutts, but I have snapped at an adult over guarding food and growled when I guarded an object that I wanted that was on the floor, so much older kids (teens and up) that will know not to come around me when I eat or take anything away from me, and of course let’s meet! • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: My foster reports that I’m very sweet and that I want to please them as well as want acceptance from my people.  I’m also very timid, shy and fearful and I tend to jump and flinch at a lot of things until I get used to them, so a family that is patient and calm would be best for me.  Also, I’d like a home that doesn’t have a lot of people coming and going.  Now that I’ve gotten more comfortable with my foster family, I like being very close to them and I do my best to be chill and go with the flow though I have those guarding challenges as mentioned above and my foster family is working on them with me, and Mostly Mutts is happy to provide support and training too. I’m starting to sit in laps, but do not like being picked up, so if want a dog you can carry around – I’m not that dog. / My energy level is currently 4-6, though it may increase the more comfortable I become in my new home.       • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: My former family reported that I know ‘sit’ and ‘stay’, but I haven’t tried those commands in my foster home. I’ve learned how to go up and down stairs and I have the talent of getting on my hind legs and walking like a human at times. I’m sure you can teach me lots of commands. / I’m not crated in my foster home, but I stay in the kitchen when I sleep and when my fosters need to leave the home. Initially I would get very upset and loud when I couldn’t see my fosters and at nighttime – barking for about 30 minutes before settling in. However now that I’ve been in my foster home for a few weeks I haven’t barked at nighttime, and I’ve been good when they need to leave for periods of time during the day. Due to my first few weeks adjusting to a new home, an apartment/condo type home would not be a good fit for me. / My foster reports that I’m doing well with my potty manners on a good schedule.  I know right where to go and right what to do when we go outside, and I respond well to “go potty, good job.”  So, keep me on a consistent schedule and I think I’ll do well for you too.   • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I like playing fetch, playing with toys and tossing toys around and my favorite thing is being with my people!  I also like to sniff around, and I like snuggling with my people now that I’m feeling more at home. / I do not want to be carried as that makes me very uncomfortable and I’d much rather walk on my own. I don’t like being alone very much, so a work from home or stay at home family member would  be the best!  I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training.  • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. If you are a patient family that wants to help build their dogs’ confidence and will take the time to do that, we could be a good match. My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  July 5, 2024, 9:04 pm
