Story
Lunette is a shiba/black lab mix. I have had her since she was 6 weeks old, her birthday is 08/16/2023. She is a loving dog. She loves walks and playing with her brother blossom and squeaky toys. I sadly have to rehome her since I am going through a difficult patch right now. I am looking for a loving family/ individual who can love her equally or more than me. She is an amazing companion and deserves the best.

Story
Barbie - Shiba/GSD - Female - 9 months - www.twyla.org If you'd like to know more about this dog please visit our website at www.Twyla.org Meet Barbie: this gorgeous little girl came to our rescue as a medical case - she had been thrown over a fence either due to broken hip or this caused her hip to break - she received an FHO and a SI surgery and a partial tail amputation. Barbie has made a full recovery from these surgeries - she will always have a little swagger in her hips when walking and running, but she's not letting it slow her down anymore. Barbie is a big snuggle bug, loves her dog bed or the sofa. She loves being around her humans and her sister dogs (usually likes to be touching one of them when she’s Lounging). She is almost potty trained, but cannot hold it longer than about 3-4 hrs during the day, but will hold it all night! She cries a little if she knows her humans are around and she’s not able to find them, but does well if they’re out of the house. She does not like the crate - she didn’t like it, even right after surgery and was on doctors orders - she would much prefer to free roam or confinement in a smaller space (like laundry room). She loves to look out the window and given  a dog bed by window, she will chill. Her happy place it next to her human - she likes to be in the office with them while they work, and she is not a barker at the Amazon driver! She is very food motivated and is slowly learning certain commands. She also knows how to wait her turn for ice (which she loves!), her food, or treats. She doesn’t jump on people and she’s pretty good on a leash. As she's still a puppy, she’s a bit of a chewer, but doesn't mind when she’s redirected to one of her toys. She loves any toy she can chew on, especially the kind that are meant for chewers. She is ok with cats, more curious than anything. Amazing with other dogs and loves to play with other dogs! She plays with the fosters 10 yr old and our 3 yr old dogs, so she definitely loves to play! Her hip sometimes bothers her if it’s getting ready to rain or if she plays a little too hard with her older sisters! She’s great with kids and she’s patient, but like any pup, she doesn’t want to be laid on or handled, she just wants to play and snuggle …so she would be fine with kinds that can respect her and her boundaries. She is ok in the car. She likes it, but she prefers just being at home or on a short walk. She is just the sweetest and gives the best kisses and is such a happy puppy! Barbie is looking for a home where she had at least one fur sibling dog who wants to play. She would also do well if someone can work from home some because she loves being around her humans. She’s not a fan of being alone, she would like to supervise her humans with every step they take, especially in the kitchen. ***Please note: All dogs are fostered in private homes of volunteers, so to meet a dog please fill out an Adoption Application on our website (http://www.twyla.org/adopt/our-adoption-process) so we may setup a private meetup with the dog or coordinate for an Introduction at the next general Adoption Meet and Greet (as listed on our website: (http://www.twyla.org/upcoming-events), as not all dogs attend all Meet and Greets***

Story
We got our little guy at 5 months from another home. He is 19 months old now - birthday 03/09/2023. I love him to pieces, but he’s been exhibiting some tough behaviors that we’ve had a lot of trouble correcting and have come to the conclusion that he would do best in a new home. He is extremely smart and will thrive with some in-depth behavioral training, but unfortunately, is just something we can’t afford. Experience with stubborn breeds is essential for his next owner! This dog is hyperactive, and is happiest after a long day of lots of exercise. Ideally, new family would have lots of space for him to run and play. Although, he has been friendly with every dog I’ve introduced him to, he is extremely reactive to other animals on-leash, and doesn’t do well with cats, so would do best in a home with no other animals. If you think you can handle this little guy, please reach out!

These pups are in Houston, Texas too!

Story
Cranberry was a local shelter save in November. She was injured with a femur fracture that she had surgery on. She was adopted in January but returned to us in September for no fault of her own. Here's a little about her: she LOVES other dogs and wants to play non-stop. She met cats recently and did very well with them! She's good with kids but may knock small children over. She has been trained to "off," but she gets excited and forgets. This would be the same for elderly or anyone that uses a walker or cane. She would heel her mom's walker. She is always under your feet, so she'll easily accidentally trip you if you're not careful. She has been trained to use bells at the back door and she'll ring them to potty, however she may have accidents if nobody responds to bells right away. She'll "crate" or "kennel" when told. She also eats in her kennel. Cranberry loves her food, so she wants all of it (and will guard food/treats). She is high energy most of the time. She's great on a leash! She wants to play with everyone so even though she's trained to sit, down, and off, she's still a puppy. She gets excited and can easily pull you down with her strength if you're not playing attention to correct her. She has no aggression or separation anxiety. She loves to cuddle with you and is the best cuddler. She loads and unloads in the back seat of cars easily and is a great car rider. She also knows "treats" and "cookie" too. She's a very smart girl! She was DNA tested and is a German Shepherd, Husky, Lab, Australian Cattle Dog + Beagle mix!

Story
Looking for an active, smart boy who would love a structured home with plenty of exercise?  Chevy is your guy!     Chevy has been in our program for a few years now as he needs to go to that perfect home that understands him and his needs.  You see, Chevy is a working/herding breed of dog and was on his own to fend for himself for so long on the rough streets of Houston that he's leery of people until he gets to know you.  Chevy had been living under a truck for a while (it was a Chevy) while a Scout's Honor volunteer was working to gain his trust. He kept going every day to feed him and give him some attention. The business near where he was let him come onto their property and provided him some shelter.  Unfortunately, because there was a busy street nearby, Chevy got bumped by a few cars when he was out and about and lost a few teeth as a result.  Luckily, he did not sustain any significant injuries, and just needed to eat and get a bath.  Fast-forward a few years, Chevy is in boarding and loves other dogs and loves to play !  He is a high energy dog, but is also very smart and alert. He needs A LOT of exercise and positive reinforcement, but will pick up very quickly on what you are teaching him. He would be a great dog for agility or flyball!!  As long as you keep him busy and challenged he will impress you with how well he can learn things. He just wants someone who will give him the direction, attention and structure he wants/needs. He would make a great dog for an active home with NO kiddos.  Kiddos are just too unpredictable for this guy.  He also needs a home that understands how to properly introduce him to new people and watch his cues.  Chevy can be very protective of his people and area, so proper intros are a must.  He would do best in a home that does not have a lot of new people coming in/out. True to his Kelpie/Basenji breed, Chevy likes to herd and run and play .  Check out this video of him just having a grand time running - look at those turns!      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L81s-TWX9SA&feature=youtu.be  Kelpie's/Basenji's are unique problem solvers and will find a way to do whatever he deems necessary.  True to these breed, he will also be fierlcy protective of his family (getting back to proper intros).  Chevy fits these traits to a T, and anyone who knows and loves the herding breeds would just adore little Chevy!!   Chevy is up to date on vaccinations, neutered and micro-chipped.   Please contact us at info@scoutshonor.org if you are interested in fostering or adopting this precious guy!  You can read all about our foster and adoption process, as well as make a donation for his care, on our website at www.scoutshonor.org.    Scout's Honor Rescue is a 501c3 whose primary focus is rescuing dogs from the euthanasia list from high kill TX shelters. EIN # is 87-0773073 Follow us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/scoutshonorrescue or Instagram at www.instagram.com/scoutshonorrescue We have multiple ways to donate: Venmo:  @ScoutsHonor-Rescue Paypal: www.paypal.me/scoutshonorrescue   https://scoutshonor.org/take-action/donate/ We are strictly volunteer based, no salaries are paid and 100% of donations go towards rescuing dogs October 28, 2024, 2:52 pm
