Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee $400 plus taxYumi is an extremely sweet Shiba who loves to be close to her people and getting pets. She is house trained (only 1 accident on the first day we had her) and is perfectly happy with our resident dog. I tried crating her the first night but it was clear she desperately wanted to sleep in my bed, which she does without a peep all night. On a leash she is getting better at not pulling the whole way, but she is extremely prey motivated so squirrels and other small woodland critters will cause her to lunge in excitement. Yumi doesn’t really bark on her own, but she’ll join in fairly quietly if our resident dog starts barking. I’m fairly sure she would be a perfect dog for someone with shared walls, but as of now she only knows how to go up stairs, we’re working on teaching her how to go down them. Other Shiba traits include stubbornness; she isn’t terribly food motivated so getting her to eat seems like an exercise in gourmet dog meal preparation (lots of high value toppers like fresh dog food for instance). She also loves to make you come get her when she’s outside; she’ll wait by the door, seemingly ready to be let in, and when you open the door she’ll run away. She does this consistently. We haven’t tested her around children or cats, but we’ll report back when we have. All that said, she’s still a little charmer who loves to do “airplane ears” when you call her name sweetly and approach for some scritches. She’ll make any family she is apart of happier. Yumi has primary glaucoma meaning that the eye has a difficult time draining necessary fluid so it builds up and produces a lot of painful pressure in the eyeball. She will be having her right eye removed in January. Her left eye's pressures are normal at this time and we're going to keep her on eye medications to help delay pressure buildup but her left eye will also likely build up too much pressure at some point and need to be removed.https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/glaucoma-in-dogs If you have previously applied with us please email adoptionatmars@gmail.com to reactivate your application with new interest. All fees are subject to MN sales tax and a processing fee at the time of adoption. Our Adoption fees for all animals cover required vetting: which includes, Rabies, Distemper Vaccine Series, Bordetella, Deworming, Heartworm Test as age appropriate, Spay or Neuter and Microchip and registration. Adoption Fees are Non Negotialble. All fees are subject to MN sales tax and a processing fee at the time of adoption. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  or    *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called 'cute' as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.  *Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.  Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. //

Story
My name is Auburn and I’m looking for my forever home! I am 6 years old and I am being fostered near Minneapolis, MN. I’m looking for a quiet, calm home – preferably one with a securely fenced yard where I can run. I love to run! I came to SIRA from a commercial breeding facility and I’m still getting used to living in a home with humans. There are so many strange noises and things to experience. I’m still a bit skittish, shy and cautious, but as I get to know you, I’ll want to follow you around to see what you’re doing and be near you. I love affection and once I trust you, I’ll ask you to scritch my head and pet me because it feels so good! I’m an early riser and I wake up ready to go! I love to run around in the fenced yard, and I’ve learned how to walk on a leash too. Quiet streets and trails are my favorite - I get scared of traffic, noises and unfamiliar humans or dogs. I’m a smart cookie and learn new routines and schedules quickly. I’m pretty much totally house-trained, but I’ll need to be watched around rugs and carpets. I’m not fond of being confined in a crate. I’m a sweet girl – foster mom says I don’t have an aggressive bone in my body. I love chewing on things, so it will be good to have appropriate chew toys for me. I get along well with the resident dogs in my foster home. I’m okay with kids and with cats, though little kids might scare me if they make sudden movements or loud noises. I haven’t shown any prey-drive that lots of Shibas have. I like watching the swans in the backyard, but I have never barked at them or tried to chase them. I’m a healthy girl – spayed and vaccinated and I weigh 18 pounds. Sometimes my eyes water and make tear stains on my face, but the vet says that this is no cause for concern. If you live in the Midwest and would love to have a quiet, sweet friend to be your shadow, visit www.savingshibas.com/adopt for more information and to apply to become an approved SIRA adopter. The application process helps SIRA learn more about you and your home so they can make sure that we’ll be a good match. Once approved, they’ll introduce you to my foster mom so we can meet!

Story
Name: Pikachu Breeds: Shiba Inu Age: Young Adult Sex: Male Size: Small Pikachu is a little Shiba Inu found wandering on his own and not reclaimed. We don’t know why no one came for this little dude but someone lost a treasure! He is silly, spunky, loves to hop around with toys, and uses his cute little face to get him out of trouble. That Kleenex box that exploded…definitely not done by Pikachu’s cute little self! He is housetrained and crates well. Pikachu is good with dogs and cats and has been friendly to the kids he has met though gravitates away from the more grabby hands so probably prefers a home with older kids who won’t use his curly tail as a tug. He is about 8-9 months old and close to fully grown at about 20 lbs. Requirements: No special requirements Adoption Fee: $650 + tax. This includes neuter/spay, current vaccinations as age appropriate, heartworm/tick testing in dogs over 6 months of age, deworming, microchip and current preventatives Interested in adopting?
