Story
My name is Auburn and I’m looking for my forever home! I am 6 years old and I am being fostered near Minneapolis, MN. I’m looking for a quiet, calm home – preferably one with a securely fenced yard where I can run. I love to run! I came to SIRA from a commercial breeding facility and I’m still getting used to living in a home with humans. There are so many strange noises and things to experience. I’m still a bit skittish, shy and cautious, but as I get to know you, I’ll want to follow you around to see what you’re doing and be near you. I love affection and once I trust you, I’ll ask you to scritch my head and pet me because it feels so good! I’m an early riser and I wake up ready to go! I love to run around in the fenced yard, and I’ve learned how to walk on a leash too. Quiet streets and trails are my favorite - I get scared of traffic, noises and unfamiliar humans or dogs. I’m a smart cookie and learn new routines and schedules quickly. I’m pretty much totally house-trained, but I’ll need to be watched around rugs and carpets. I’m not fond of being confined in a crate. I’m a sweet girl – foster mom says I don’t have an aggressive bone in my body. I love chewing on things, so it will be good to have appropriate chew toys for me. I get along well with the resident dogs in my foster home. I’m okay with kids and with cats, though little kids might scare me if they make sudden movements or loud noises. I haven’t shown any prey-drive that lots of Shibas have. I like watching the swans in the backyard, but I have never barked at them or tried to chase them. I’m a healthy girl – spayed and vaccinated and I weigh 18 pounds. Sometimes my eyes water and make tear stains on my face, but the vet says that this is no cause for concern. If you live in the Midwest and would love to have a quiet, sweet friend to be your shadow, visit www.savingshibas.com/adopt for more information and to apply to become an approved SIRA adopter. The application process helps SIRA learn more about you and your home so they can make sure that we’ll be a good match. Once approved, they’ll introduce you to my foster mom so we can meet!

Story
Hi! I'm Grandmother Dusty! I'm from Alabama. From her foster: Grandmother Dusty, who we mostly refer to as just Grandma or Dusty, is a sweet, spunky senior lady who is looking for a place to spend her golden years. She is an independent girl who likes to lounge in comfy spots around the house, but as soon as she sees her person moving she's right on your heels. She still has pep in her step and does the cutest dance around the house when she's excited. Dusty has some vision loss and possible hearing loss, which leads to her being a little skittish at first, but she settles in and gains confidence in a new environment quickly. She has done good in public places such as restaurant patios and pet stores as long as she's with her person. She loves to spend time outside in the yard, moseying around the perimeter and basking in the sunshine. Dusty also enjoys short walks and is good on leash. She is calm, quiet, and easy-going, so she would likely do fine in a home with shared walls. Dusty is potty trained and crate trained. She will often nap in her kennel with the door open, but also does great being left out when home alone. She is good with other dogs, but because of her vision loss, high-energy dogs can be a little much for her. She needs an adult-only home. Due to her vision impairment, she is very easily startled and can nip when she is really scared. She does well in our quiet home, but I think she would really struggle in a busier household. Overall, Dusty is a well-rounded girl who is a great dog for someone looking for a low-maintenance companion.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee $400 plus taxYumi is an extremely sweet Shiba who loves to be close to her people and getting pets. She is house trained (only 1 accident on the first day we had her) and is perfectly happy with our resident dog. I tried crating her the first night but it was clear she desperately wanted to sleep in my bed, which she does without a peep all night. On a leash she is getting better at not pulling the whole way, but she is extremely prey motivated so squirrels and other small woodland critters will cause her to lunge in excitement. Yumi doesn’t really bark on her own, but she’ll join in fairly quietly if our resident dog starts barking. I’m fairly sure she would be a perfect dog for someone with shared walls, but as of now she only knows how to go up stairs, we’re working on teaching her how to go down them. Other Shiba traits include stubbornness; she isn’t terribly food motivated so getting her to eat seems like an exercise in gourmet dog meal preparation (lots of high value toppers like fresh dog food for instance). She also loves to make you come get her when she’s outside; she’ll wait by the door, seemingly ready to be let in, and when you open the door she’ll run away. She does this consistently. We haven’t tested her around children or cats, but we’ll report back when we have. All that said, she’s still a little charmer who loves to do “airplane ears” when you call her name sweetly and approach for some scritches. She’ll make any family she is apart of happier. Yumi has primary glaucoma meaning that the eye has a difficult time draining necessary fluid so it builds up and produces a lot of painful pressure in the eyeball. She will be having her right eye removed in January. Her left eye's pressures are normal at this time and we're going to keep her on eye medications to help delay pressure buildup but her left eye will also likely build up too much pressure at some point and need to be removed.https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/glaucoma-in-dogs If you have previously applied with us please email adoptionatmars@gmail.com to reactivate your application with new interest. All fees are subject to MN sales tax and a processing fee at the time of adoption. We accept Credit cards, Debit cards as well as cash. At this time we do not accept checks. Our Adoption fees for all animals cover required vetting: which includes, Rabies, Distemper Vaccine Series, Bordetella, Deworming, Heartworm Test as age appropriate, Spay or Neuter and Microchip and registration. Adoption Fees are Non Negotialble. All fees are subject to MN sales tax and a processing fee at the time of adoption. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  or    *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called 'cute' as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.  *Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.  Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. //

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Adoption fee $495 DOB: 6/4/11 Requires another dog in home: Yes Okay with dogs of all sizes: Yes Okay with cats: Yes Weight: 15 pounds Okay with children under 12 years old: Unknown Requires a fenced yard: Yes Note: dogs must always be leashed whenever outside of a contained area Are you looking for an older dog who is more laid back?  I’m no longer a puppy but eligible for my AARP card.  I’m not much into toys at this time or treats either, for that matter. I’m a bit more timid yet still friendly.  You see, lots of commotion is for those younger dogs.  I’m like your grandma.  I’ll watch and remember when I used to… I am crate trained (my friends say that’s like staying close to home) and potty training is close so long as you remember to keep me on schedule.  But I will need a fenced yard because I don’t like doing my business much in public.  Sometimes I will go for a walk but not all the time.  Just every so often.  I need to work on that a little bit more.  Also, I am fur-endly with dogs and cats.  And I only speak up (bark) when I’m alarmed.  I’d also like to have another dog in my home so I can gossip.  You see, I am just like your grandma – sweet and easy going. *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared.    *Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption.  This will be at the adopters expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue.      *Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a   particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.   ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Guess what? I am going to be at Tractor Supply in Dundas (600 Schilling Dr Dundas, MN 55019) for the Underdog Rescue & Dispatch Dogs Adoption Event! Come and meet me on Saturday November 16th from 11:00 am-1:00 pm. Hi I'm Abbott!  I'm a happy snuggly guy who is all about making my person happy.  I'm very attentive to you and ready to do whatever will please you and get me all the pets and praises.  I'll reward you right back with my happy smile and my cute prance!  I love hugs, playing with soft toys and running with my doggie friends having a great time.  I'm doing great walking on leash and  working on potty and kennel training.  I know we can master that together. You won't be able to resist once you run your fingers through my coat and look into these gorgeous eyes! I’m a growing puppy and I have not yet had a lot of experience with crates, kids or cats and I might bark if something alarms me, but I really love to learn and hoping for a family who will take me to a basic obedience class to continue to help me build confidence and dog skills. Ideally my forever home would need to be home during the day to help me with my potty training and not leave me for breaks longer than 3 - 4 hours. If you are looking for a best friend, please fill out the puppy application. The more info you include on the application the better so I can find a good match for my forever home. Get your toy box ready! **Obedience classes are required when adopting this puppy from Underdog Rescue. Many of our puppies have a mama who was not properly socialized before coming to Underdog Rescue. Since coming to Underdog, this puppy has been in a socialized and loving home, but that needs to be continued with its Adopters. Training classes teach puppies the ins and outs of being a pet while creating a bond with their new Adopter. Obedience classes are key to creating a relationship with your puppy while having it be a happy and successful member of society. Proof of Obedience Class registration is required for this puppy before adoptions can be finalized. If you would like some suggestions, we would be happy to send some trainers who have experience with Underdog Rescue, but a Basic Obedience class in your area should work! Our goal is place puppies in homes that are suited for their individual needs. Come to the Underdog Headquarters (3345 Dakota Ave, St. Louis Park, 55416) for an Adoption Event on Sunday, November 17th from 10:30-11:30 am . Please email inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com for questions regarding the dogs.     Hey there! I’m Kenneth, but my friends call me Kenny. I’m a silly, happy puppy who’s all about fun, snuggles, and being the best little buddy you could ask for! I’m the type of pup who’s up for playtime anytime—give me a squeaky toy or a tennis ball, and I’m in heaven. But as much as I love to play, my absolute favorite thing in the world is cuddling up with my humans. I’m a total rag doll when held, just melting right into you! I’m working hard on my crate training and leash walking skills. I’m super close to mastering potty training, especially if we keep to a good schedule. I’ll admit, I might bark a little in the crate if I know you’re nearby, but with a Kong or a treat, I can keep myself distracted until you come back. I’m great with kids and other dogs. I am a little “curious” about the cat in my foster home, so if there is a cat in my forever home we need to make sure it is dog savvy. I already know some commands, like sit and down, and I’m ready to learn even more if you’re up for a little training time together. If you’ve always wanted a cute, snuggly companion who’s ready for both adventures and couch time, I’m your guy. I’d love to join you on all of life’s adventures and be your best friend through it all. Think we’re a match? Let’s meet! *I’m a growing puppy and I have not yet had a lot of experience with crates, kids or cats and I might bark if something alarms me, but I really love to learn and hoping for a family who will take me to a basic obedience class to continue to help me build confidence and dog skills.
