Story
My name is Mika and I’m looking for my forever home. I’m still a puppy – I’ll turn 1 y.o. in August. I currently weigh 15 lbs. I came to my foster home here in Montague, MI, from a commercial breeding facility. I’m a smart girl – very cautious, but also very curious. I love treats and I love to play! I can play rough and hold my own even with my foster brother who is twice my size. When we’re not wrestling, I like to cuddle with him and give him kisses. I love to play in the yard too. I like to explore and dig holes and chew things (um...and eat poop), so foster mom keeps a careful eye on me! When my foster family is out of the house, the other dogs and I stay in our crates. I’m learning how to go for walks on a leash. I'm getting the hang of it! While I love other dogs, new people still scare me. You’d be scared too If you came from a place like where I came from. My forever family will need to be patient with me and understanding as I learn to trust and to feel confident in new situations. Prior experience with shy/fearful dogs is a plus. My family should also be very careful around open doors and gates to avoid escapes. I’d love to find a forever family with another nice dog to help me adapt and feel safe, but I’d probably do okay without another dog as long as my humans have time to help me learn and grow into a well-mannered and socialized adult. I’m a healthy girl – spayed and vaccinated. When I was a really little puppy, both my sister and I were suspected to have heart murmurs, but that resolved and I don’t need any special care. If you live in the Midwest and want to share your life with a pretty little girl like me, visit www.savingshibas.com/adopt to apply to become an approved SIRA adopter. The application process helps SIRA learn more about you so they can make sure we’ll be a good match. Once approved, they’ll introduce you to my foster mom so we can meet!
