Story
This dainty, delightful girl is Dixie. She has recently come to us as a stray so the information we have on her is limited. Dixie went on her first doggy day out on Valentine’s Day, and when she walked through the lobby, the oohs and ahhs made it seem like this girl had her own personal fan club. She is just the pretty, and a good girl. The person who took her out for the day stated that Dixie was all about the human attention and cuddles. As you can see from her photo, she loves to curl up into your body. She is estimated to be just under 2 years old and she is not quite 30 pounds at intake. She is just an amazing dog. She won over the heart of her Valentine date, that is for sure. If you would like to meet Dixie, please email foster@kcpetproject.org. Dixie is living in a foster home. Dixie has gone to playgroup and is tolerant of other dogs! Dixie’s adoption fee does include her spay, microchip and her vaccinations to get her up to date.

Story
Meet Bella! Bella is a sweet girl, around 55 pounds. Her birthdate is Aug 4, 2015 and we think she is a mix of yellow lab and shiba inu. She is well socialized with people, and often pretends to be a lap dog and loves attention. She roams freely around the house when we are gone (no kennel needed) and the only thing she gets into is the trash if it is left uncovered. She will need a secured fence. She loves the dog park and playing with other dogs. She did cohabitate with a cat and wanted to play with her, but the cat preferred she keep a respectable distance. She got on well with her “step-dog-sibling” when she stayed with the kids at their dad’s house on weekends. She did not grow up around babies and toddlers but she has been doing well with my grandbaby. She would be well suited for a home with school age children or a couple looking for a cuddly critter.

Story
My name is Otis and I’m looking for my forever home! I’m 1 y.o. and a lover boy! I weigh 15 lbs - okay, I’m small, but I pack a lot of personality into my little self! I came to my foster home here in Kansas City from a commercial breeding facility. I like living in a home with a family! I am shy at first – and will bark and run away from strangers. But once I get used to you, I’ll give you tail wags and airplane ears and lots of kisses and snuggles! Foster mom says I’m goofy. I think it’s because of all the funny sounds I make when I want attention. If one of the other dogs is getting petted, I will make my case that it should be MEEEE instead! Or maybe it's the way I prance around the room with a toy in my mouth whenever she comes in. I get along with dogs that are my size. But big dogs? Well, let’s just say that I get very territorial. I’m good with cats - pretty much just leave them alone. I’m vaccinated and I’m going to be neutered. I’m a healthy boy except I’ve got bad knees. My knee caps are loose – I was born with something called luxating patella. It doesn’t stop me from running really fast. The vet says I don’t need surgery yet, but I might in the future. I’m a smart boy – learning commands and new routines. Like when foster mom calls me over for bedtime. As soon as she says “come here!” I roll over for belly rubs! It’s our favorite game. I get belly rubs and then she picks me up and puts me in my kennel. I’m learning to walk on a leash, but it’s a work in progress. Foster mom promises we’ll keep practicing. I’m not the outdoorsy type anyway. My perfect forever family will have a securely fenced yard and be very careful around open doors, since I’m fast and Shibas are escape artists. It will help if they understand shy dogs. My forever family should be patient, since I’m still a puppy, and continue my training so I'll be a well-behaved adult. If you live in the Midwest and want a snuggly boy like me, visit www.savingshibas.com/adopt to apply to be an approved SIRA adopter. The application process helps SIRA learn about you so they can make sure we’ll be a good match. Once approved, SIRA will introduce you to my foster mom so we can meet!

Story
Bubbly Blondie requires your attention please! She wants people to know that just because she's broken hearted, she will love you with her whole heart for as long as she has. Blondie is a sassy yet sweet girl. She is a redheaded spitfire! She does not like cats, and can be dog selective. She prefers the company of male dogs. The bigger, the better, as she likes to rough house and tumble around with them. Who doesn't love it when the fellas chase us? Blondie does have cardiac issues. She has been diagnosed with multiple heart issues. She has a grade 5-6 heart murmur. She has a hole in the septum of her heart, and pulmonary stenosis. She will need visits to the cardiologist for medication adjustments and any testing they recommend. We do not know how often she will need to see the cardiologist, visit frequency will be recommended by the the vet. As of right now, surgery is not an option. Because of this, she will not be spayed, and will be adopted with a spay contract should she ever need to go under anesthesia for anything. We are hoping there is a home out there for her that is willing to take on her needs. She deserves to be loved and doted on. She has so so much love to give, and desperately wants a family to share it with. We understand not every home is suitable for her, but please share her to your Facebook page. Never know who may see it and fall in love with her.

I weigh just 16 pounds. Iandamp;#39;ve lived with cats&#44 and Iandamp;#39;ve liked some&#44 and tolerated the others. I have the cutest little bark when Iandamp;#39;m begging for those delicious treats you humans control. My favorite thing in the world is to sit with you and get all the attention and love that you have to offer me. Do you like snuggling with a dog as much as I like snuggling with you?
