Story
Meet Sammie! Sammie is a sweet and loving Shiba mix who thrives in a calm, consistent environment. This 11-year-old pup struggles with anxiety, having spent much of his life as a stray. He is looking for a patient, experienced owner who can provide the structured routine and gentle care he needs to feel safe and secure. Sammie’s Needs: • A child-free, pet-free home: Sammie will shine as your one and only furry friend. • A calm and steady routine: Predictability helps reduce his stress. • Daily walks and outdoor time: Sammie loves walks and being active—it’s his favorite way to bond and unwind. • A patient, understanding owner: Someone willing to work with Sammie as he learns to trust and relax. • Plenty of treats and tennis balls. Treats help build trust, and running after tennis balls is Sammie’s favorite way to play.  What Sammie Offers: • Unconditional love and loyalty once he feels safe. • A walking buddy who will encourage you to stay active. • A deep bond that only comes from helping a special dog thriveJanuary 3, 2025, 3:14 pm

Story
Panko needs a home with no kids and no dogs. He has not been tested with cats. He is bonded to his humom most and is generally more drawn to women. He is a bit of a cuddle bug, so he would do best with a female as his primary caregiver and snuggle buddy. Panko has been with his family his entire life. He's always been a bit of an anxious dog, which causes him to guard his precious resources. It has always been manageable by eliminating high value treats and giving him his own safe space to eat his meals. After bringing home their 1st child, Panko's anxiety has increased significantly, making his guarding worse. His family recognizes it's not good for him to live with this high level of stress all the time and have made the difficult decision to rehome him. He will need a foster/adopter who understands or is experienced with resource guarding. He is currently working with a highly skilled and experienced trainer and is making amazing progress with counter conditioning. Adopters MUST be willing to have multiple meet and greets with Panko and begin working on training prior to placement. Continued training after placement will also be a requirement. Panko is house trained and was crate trained as a puppy but hasn't used it in a long time. He's a well-behaved boy, and in a home with no kids or pets, would not have a reason to be crated. We have dog tested him and he may be able to have dog friends in the future but will still need to be an only dog. Panko is used to getting 2 walks a day, which helps with his anxiety, so he will need a family who is active. Panko is a very sweet social Shiba. He loves meeting new people and getting scratches! He will always remember a new friend and will give a tail wag and want to say hello when he bumps into them. He has lots of energy and never tires on his walks. He is used to having a yard and loves to roll in fresh green grass and his favorite game is biting at the water from the hose. If you are interested in Panko, please fill out an adoption application ASAP! If you are already on our waitlist, please reach out to let us know you are interested. PAW Club Member!I am part of the Patient and Waiting (PAW) Club! My adoption fee has been reduced to $250 (from $350) to help get me into my loving home!HighlightsNeeds a 5 ft fenced yardNeeds a confident canine siblingMeet Sara – A Gentle Soul Learning to TrustSara is a 5.5-year-old Shiba Inu/Husky mix weighing 31 pounds with big, beautiful doe-like eyes that reflect her gentle and sensitive nature. She is still very scared and learning to trust, but with time and patience, she begins to feel more comfortable with familiar people.Sara loves going on walks and does great on a leash, making her the perfect walking companion. However, putting on her harness can be scary for her, so she will need a patient adopter who can help her build confidence with this routine.Right now, Sara does not approach people for pets or treats, but she slowly gets used to people over time. She will need an adopter who understands that she may take a while to warm up and that trust must be built at her own pace.A confident canine sibling is a must for Sara, as she finds comfort and security in the presence of other dogs. A friendly dog will help guide her, provide reassurance, and show her that the world is not so scary.Sara needs a calm, patient home where she can continue her journey of healing. If you`re ready to help a shy but deserving soul learn what love and safety feel like, Sara is waiting to take that step with you.Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. Because some of our dogs are very under-socialized, they may not be a good fit for young children. Homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Some of our more fearful dogs will do best in a home with another dog and a securely fenced yard. Common skills such as house training and leash walking will often take extra time. Patience, understanding, and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, many of these dogs come around with patience, and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience. Highlights:-Needs 5ft fenced yard-Needs a confident canine sibling-Prefers older childrenI am part of the Patient and Waiting (PAW) Club. My adoption fee has been reduced to $250 (from $350) to help get me into my loving home!Meet Sky, a delightful female Shiba Inu/Alaskan Husky who weighs 32 pounds. Sky is full of energy and loves to get the zoomies in the backyard. She sometimes hops into the kiddie pool to cool her paws and has a playful streak, having once secretly stolen an old kitchen sponge from her foster parents to excitedly toss around the yard.Sky is fascinated by animals and bugs, with a special interest in squirrels, birds, butterflies, moths, and flies. Being outside is her favorite activity, where she can enjoy plenty of yard time with a securely fenced yard. She is still working on leash training but will likely enjoy long walks once she`s more comfortable.Though Sky is very shy and skittish when first meeting new people, she warms up over time. She is cautious around strangers but is eager to learn that humans can be trusted. Sky would thrive in a home with other confident dogs who can show her the ropes and reassure her that humans are safe. She also needs a family where people are home more often than not, as she gets anxious when left alone for too long. Are you ready to provide a loving and understanding home for Sky? With your patience and care, this playful and curious Husky will blossom into a loyal and joyful companion.----------Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization.
