Story
Meet Pops, a 4 and a half -year-old male Pit Bull mix.Pops is such a sweetheart, and he loves to press right up against you and even gives kisses. He is very easygoing and has lots of neck wrinkles you can’t help but rub. He has the look of a seal when he lays down for belly rubs and will keep you laughing with his goofy personality and looks. He loves his treats, walks well on leash and will scoot towards you for more attention; what’s not to love about this handsome boy? Pops is a dog that would like a household that has a canine companion with the same energy level as him. Or he would love to be an only dog. Pops has done great with some dogs in the past but other dogs he likes to correct when they get too rowdy, he never takes it too far but we feel that he would just prefer lower-key dogs. Pops could also do great in a house with kids over 10 years old. If you recognize this animal please contact the adoption center at 509-457-6854.If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org. A Yakima Humane Society staff member will contact you once your questionnaire has been processed. Adopters are welcome to visit the adoption center Monday-Saturday. A Picture says 1000 words...right? While an animal`s picture draws interest, the reality is that as a potential adopter most people would like as much information as possible about a pet. The Yakima Humane Society is an open admission shelter. What does this mean? Over 90% of the pets at the adoption center arrive as strays, no history of behavior or medical care is known. Adding a pet to your family is a big responsibility. Please research carefully and remember that adoption is life saving. Adopt Don`t Shop.

Story
Meet Gorda, a 5-year-old female Pit Bull/Staffie mix.Gorda was brought to the adoption center by City of Yakima animal control. She and her buddy Gordo were out running at large in Yakima in the extreme heat and needed help. Gorda has been calm going in and out of her kennel and even ignores the other dogs as they bark at her walking out of the kennels. Gorda has done extremely well with her dog and people tests, getting along with all people and dogs she has met. We really think Gorda has an exceptionally good temperament that could make an excellent family dog. Gorda is very treat motivated and a bit in the chunky side, she could benefit from loosing a couple pounds. This girl is actually rather small in stature and we enjoy that she doesn’t try and pull us every which way on the leash. Gorda is such a good girl she knows her commands “sit” and “down” and will do just about anything for some gentle attention. You definitely have to meet this girl in person to see just how much of a doll she is.This pet is available for adoption at the Ellensburg Humane Society adoption center. If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org. A Yakima Humane Society staff member will contact you once your questionnaire has been processed. Adopters are welcome to visit the adoption center Monday-Saturday. A Picture says 1000 words...right? Story
Meet Rodger, a 2-year-old male Rottweiler/Pitbull mix.We don`t really know what breeds Rodger is but we do know that all combined they have made him very cute. Rodger has a large head with expressive eyes and fun ears, this body isn`t actually that large at only 58 pounds and his tail has this super fun curl. Rodger has a shinny coat that you can`t help but want to pet and he loves the staff at YHS to give him attention all day. This handsome boy keeps a clean kennel and enjoys walks, making him the perfect date! He is very playful, doing zoomies in the yard when excited. Rodger loves to play tug and even was play bowing to our photographer to try and entice her to play with him. He walks very well on leash and is a good boy! Rodger met another dog in the play yard and just wanted to play. He was all in when playtime started and even though he gets vocal it is all in good fun! This pet is available for adoption on 8/3/24 at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center.
