Story
Meet Pedro, a two and a half year old American Pit Bull Terrier/Retriever mix. Pedro was brought to us as a stray and it is clear he hasn’t had the easiest life. His ears were covered in scratches and scars that could be from a variety of thing such as a bad case of fleas. He also had some scars on other parts of his body, despite this Pedro doesn’t hold his experiences against humans. He has now been with us for a while and all those scabs and scars are a thing of the past, his coat has come back nice and healthy and his spirit is that of a dog reborn. Where he was once shy, Pedro is now happy and ready to get some lovin. He enjoys attention and has a playful side. We are working on his manners as he likes to jump up and can be a bit mouthy when excited, however this is easily redirected to a toy and can be trained out of him pretty quickly. Due to his being mouthy when excited we think a home with no young kids might be best until he gets a bit of training. Pedro walks really well on his leash and is just a puppy at heart. Pedro has met another big dog while with us and did well, we think that given a proper introduction he could do well in a home with another dog or by himself. Story
Meet Yuko, a one and a half year old Pit Mix.Yuko has clearly had a rough life. He was owner surrendered to animal control and when he was brought in he was dehydrated, extremely skinny and moving slowly. He also had a very sensitive neck from improper use of a prong collar and a metal cord wrapped around it. Yuko has been with us long enough he is now at a healthy weight of around 60 pounds and doing great. He has come really far during his time here and is doing phenomenally. He knows “sit” and “shake/paw” and loves his treats. He is very happy to go on walks and even went on a jog with a volunteer although he didn’t last very long (LOL). He will sit before getting his food and will make an excellent companion. If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org.
