If love an independent natured dog, Pearl is your girl! This a low-maintenance girl who doesn’t want to be your shadow but will make you feel loved just the same. Not being the attention seeking type doesn’t mean she lacks charm though- from her looks to her easy-company, she has plenty of charm for someone who appreciates her low-key style. You were surely drawn in by her eyes, one sparkles blue and one is warm brown. She is really striking and stands proud which makes her a gorgeous scene. Plus, she has the cutest fluffy tail. In the same way people can be described as introverts and extroverts, it is very similar for dogs. If we were going to define her as one or the other, Pearl is an introvert. A self-confident introvert with great social skills who prefers to take things slow basically. With dogs, she enjoys a good romp. Her foster has shared that the dog she enjoys most is an especially big male who enjoys playing rough-and-tumble but takes breaks and is just as happy to wander around with her in the yard. Pearls ideal home would include a yard and I would even call her a yard explorer, she loves nothing more than just putzing around the yard checking out the garden, watching the birds, and occasionally making a bid for someone to play with her. She knows how to keep the peace but has motherly energy in larger groups of dogs, almost like she is sets the tone of keeping it light-hearted. No cats for Pearl though, she has the idea that cats don’t like her so she decided the feeling is mutual. She would definitely try to chase a cat if the occasion arises and cats sure do hate that. Pearl is estimated to be about 3 years old and weighs 64 lbs. She is in the phase of life where dogs settle into themselves which is overall marked with the easy-days. She is crate-trained, loves car rides, and is equally motivated by treats and a good “attagirl” amount of praise. Pearl will likely give her new family a touch of her introverted personality as she warms up to a new home but a little patience is all it takes for her. Before you know it that quirky personality of hers will start to shine. We would love to see Pearl in a home with a yard given how much she loves her outside time. She has basic leash skills but walks on leash are not her love language like some dogs. That independent confident nature of hers will be satisfied with the occasional zoomies and solo “adventures” in the yard. If you like your girls independent, the type that will happily spend their life with you without smothering you, and will come when you call, Pearl is your perfect match. If Pearl sound like your kind of companion, apply today! https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/64fe4d945b1d5552210f3db4 Questions? We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond. Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.  The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue.  While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs. It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS: Extensive behavioral testing and information from trainers on our staff to ensure the perfect fit for your family  Discounts on Embark DNA test kit- $30 off of Breed ID test & $50 off of Breed ID plus Health test 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion A free private online dog training session with GoodPup, plus low pricing for future sessions  70% off of your first order of Fetch, a delicious PNW based fresh dog meatballs subscription Coupons for a fun visit to Petco 20% off of Dr. Cuddles pet first aid and hygiene solutions Discounted heartworm, flea prevention, and monthly dewormer  Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup! Story
If you’re looking for a rescue dog- you’re likely looking for a dog that you can form a deep bond with, a dog that knows you’ve saved their life, a dog that reward you endlessly with unconditional love and gratitude. That’s not all rescue dogs, but that is definitely Panda. Panda is estimated to be just two years old, and weighs in at 50 pounds. We think he’s a Pittie mix, but he is a rescue, so this is simply a best educated guess. Panda is lovingly named for both his black and white coat, and his mellow nature. Fall in love with Panda here: https://youtu.be/UihVfS2Hkak?feature=shared Panda is your dog’s best friend. He thrives in the company of goofy, playful dogs- his foster mom says that’s when he “really comes to life.” She says “While he gets along with male dogs, he gravitates to females.” We saw this during his behavior assessment, Panda enjoyed the company of every dog he met, but fell head over heels for Lucy. Lucy is a loving, confident and playful deaf Pittie of a similar size to Panda. When Panda met Lucy, he was instantly drawn to her open, happy, silly and friendly energy, and even started to play with her. His big play bow and bunny hops told us all that we needed to know- Panda’s doggy-soulmate is surely a goofy girl. Panda draws a lot of confidence from other dogs, we joke that Panda needs his own “emotional support dog,” and we hope he will be one of multiple dogs in your home. A perfect family dog, Panda was previously fostered in a home with children aged 5 and up. He did well with them, and we can definitely see him living in a home with little ones- provided they’re respectful and sweet with him. Panda is still learning about all of the luxuries that come with loving humans and a stable home. He can be a bit shy when you first meet him. The key to Panda’s heart is patience, nylabones, and walks. He’s great on leash, perfect for tandem walking, and really bonds with his people through walks. His foster mom regularly takes him on tandem walks with her resident dog, and he does wonderfully. He races to the door when she picks up the leash, always excited for their next excursion. If your neighborhood isn’t the best place to walk, have no fear- Panda is a seasoned professional passenger. This cutie settles well in the backseat, and has patience through the entire car ride. Panda may still be learning, but he knows one thing for sure- sleeping in bed at night with his humans? That’s the life. Sweet Panda loves to snuggle up at night next to his human, and will sometimes cuddle. He’s also a huge fan of the couch, the lazyboy, pretty much anywhere that he can curl up and get comfy. If a dog sharing your bed doesn’t sound too terribly enticing, that’s okay too- Panda is kennel trained and used to staying in his kennel while his foster mom is at work. He’s also fully house trained, for bonus points. Panda is such a perfect pooch, ready for his happily ever after. We think Panda’s perfect home is somewhere off the beaten path, a suburban or rural home, somewhere quiet and serene. Panda will thrive in a home with another dog, but we do not recommend him for a home with kitties. Panda is a rescue dog, and likely will travel to meet you- naturally he will need to decompress, and he will require a patient adopter who will allow him a full decompression period. Our dedicated behavior team, as well as Panda’s foster mom will be available to provide insight and advice about this period. We are willing to test Panda with anything you need us to in order to ensure he is the perfect match for you! We can make most anything happen- just let us know. A fun fact about Panda: his adoption coordinator is also his foster mom, please reach out to her via the email below with any and all questions. She will be over the moon to hear from you! Story
It’s snuggling season- and Lane got the memo! This sweet girl is an avid fan of couch snuggles and sweet little love sessions, she could lay with you all day, enjoying belly rubs and ear scritches. Lane is the perfect best friend- loving, loyal and always excited to see you. Lane is an itty bitty baby dog, she weighs in around 50 pounds, a total “pocket pittie” type. Lane is estimated to be around 2 years old, and she has so much to show for it. She’s attentive to her people, easy on leash and has great house manners. She’s spent her lifetime studying up to be your perfect dog! We believe Lane to be an American Pit Bull Terrier, Labrador mix, but she is a rescue so these are just our best guesses. Fall in love with Lane here: https://youtu.be/SW7FO9hnoNc?si=vQXwZkpqPY29xLo7 The first thing people notice about Lane is her beautiful heterochromatic eyes, one blue and one brown. The second thing people notice about Lane is that she is already in their lap, midway through a bellyrub, and also kissing them. This girl is so, so warm and friendly with everyone she meets. She’s a complete lovebug. She is a great match for any socially active household, big family or extended friend group- the more the merrier, Lane says! Lane will look up and smile at you when she’s happy, showing her little teefies in gratitude and appreciation. It’s the cutest thing about her! She loves to be talked to, and she’ll stick right by your side when you walk around the yard. For affection, Lane will lean into you, suggesting some pets. On leash, when you’re stopped, she has an adorable habit of sitting down and looking up at her handler, asking for affection. Lane has so many makings of a great dog already. She’s food motivated and affection motivated, making further training enjoyable and rewarding for both of you. Lane already knows “sit,” and she’s working on “lay down,” and “roll over.” See her show off her skills for yourself in her video! Lane is a very fast learner, submissive with people, and very respectful of rules. Lane is really easy on leash already, and a huge fan of walks. She loves to sniff around, and here at the rescue she hasn’t been fazed by passing cars. Here at the rescue, we’ve noticed that Lane prefers calmer dogs and she does well with small dogs too. She could do well in a home with a stable, relaxed doggy sibling. Lane would love a home with a yard to sunbathe in. She would love a home with ample couch space, the couch is her favorite place to be! We are willing to test Lane with anything you need us to in order to ensure she’s the perfect match for you! We can make most anything happen! Just let us know. Ready to welcome a new furry friend into your life?
