Story
Brownie is a sweet 3 year old German Shepherd & Pitbull mix that needs a new home. We tried taking her in but unfortunately our current dog did not accept her. She is great with other dogs, but our current dog is not. Brownie is very sweet, extremely affectionate and loves to play. We are looking for someone that will take very good care of her and give her the love and care that she needs.

These pups are in Mint Hill, North Carolina too!

Story
Sassy is approximately a 7 year old pitbull mix weighing about 60lbs. She is fully vaccinated and now looking for her forever family. She’s been with her foster mom and trainer Lilly now for 9 months. Can you believe she’s had zero applications?  Sassy loves people and loves to be close by and be pet. She’s loved to cuddle up on the couch or on her dog bed. She is easily entertained with bully sticks, benebones, and toys. She loves to sunbathe in the backyard and lay where ever the sun hits and will gladly accept a belly rub while doing so. She is crate trained, house trained, and sleeps quietly in the crate any time needed. She rides well in the car in a car kennel. She has a goofy personality with lots of silly behavior that will keep you laughing all day. She has done well with all the dogs she has met and been with.  She loves meal times and will come in from outside doing her "bunny hops". Look out for her classic "sassy" lip smack. She is very gentle when taking treats and knows most basic commands. She's doing well with bath time and grooming. She loves going for car rides and taking walks to sniff all the new smells. Car rides and walks are definitely high on her list of favorite things (besides snacks). She is also working on other commands like place, here, heel and wait. She does well passing other dogs and gets along well with other dogs in the house.  Sassy has high prey drive for small critters like rabbits or wildlife, so she would do best in a home with no cats and at least a 5 foot fence. While Sassy hasn't spent much 1 on 1 time with kids, her friendly nature suggests she would be good with them. She has done well passing play grounds and athletic fields. If you’re looking for an older, laid back dog, with a funny personality and sweet as could be, look no further. Sassy is eagerly waiting to finally call a place of her own “home”.  Sassy will also come with 4 free continued training sessions with dog trainer Lilly Staudt (with KeenDog training in Charlotte, NC) If you are interested in Sassy, please complete an adoption application at lastdaydogs.comNovember 6, 2024, 9:04 am

Story
Jax was adopted from us a little over a year ago, his adopter is relocating and she says she cannot take him with her - this is not his fault.  He initially had some behavioral issues and was a work in progress.  Jax is a 70 pound pit mix that is a ball of energy that loves to chase tennis balls and squirrels. Jax is house trained, crate trained, up-to-date with all his vaccines, and knows some basic commands like "sit", "down", and tries to "stay" but gets easily distracted.  With his trainer he behaves like a perfect gentleman on a leash, with his mom he gets too excited to listen. Currently he is living with cats in the house which he mostly ignores, he will sniff them if they are close by but he has never attempted to chase or eat them.  Jax is probably best as the only dog in the household or have a foster/adopter that is willing to feed and give high value treats separately.  He does not react to dogs or show any signs of aggression.  He has been boarded a few times and they report back he was perfectly fine with no issues. He does react if you go near his food dish while he is eating or his tennis balls.  I can take a toy from his mouth, no problem, but that is after a year of building trust with him. He is sensitive around pole-like items (brooms, sticks) he shys away like you are going to strike him. He is afraid of rain and empty boxes but completely ignores loud noises or barking dogs.  Jax needs someone that can devote time to him, work with him, and remind him of his manners. He is very treat/food motivated. We have built a routine and he knows it well, he is a smart boy. He loves a bath once you get him in the tub.  He wants to be close to his human and he tends to jump despite my efforts to teach him not to, so I would say no small children or seniors.    Jax is looking for a foster or adopter, our applications can be found at lastdaydogs.comNovember 6, 2024, 9:04 am
