Story
This is Jake! Intake Date: 1/2/2025 Intake Type: Stray Gender: neutered male DOB: 1/5/2023 Some of you may recognize this handsome fella from his 2 month long game of cat and mouse, where he was spotted running all over from Arkport NY to Canisteo NY! He had several organizations, dog control officers, individuals, and whole communities working together to try and bring him to safety. After many failed attempts, there was success! It took some time for Jake to settle in and start to open up, and we are still learning new things about him every day. We do believe that he was dumped and left to fend for himself by his owner. It is also likely that he may not have been treated kindly in the past as he is very leery of men. Jake is much more accepting and open to women, but we have been slowly introducing him to men in hopes that he can learn that they too can be friends. Once Jake is comfortable with his people, he turns into a big mushy teddy bear! He loves to give hugs and kisses and spend time lounging next to his people. He enjoys playing fetch, although he's not the most coordinated pup! He would be the perfect snuggle buddy on cold winter days, or durning netflix binges. He really is a sweet boy, he just needs someone with patience and that is willing to provide him with ongoing training and support to help him navigate his challenges! Jake is selective with other dogs, as he is fearful, but he has been able to make friends with another shelter pup of ours (Griffin) and they play very well together. Multiple meet and greets may be required if you have another pup in the home to see if they may be a good match. Jake does require a home with older children 16+ years old who are able to understand and respect his boundaries, and allow him to interact with them on his own terms. A home with a fenced in yard would be ideal as well, due to Jakes history of being difficult to catch. Jake truly is an amazing boy, and we know he will make a wonderful companion to someone who is willing and able to give him all the time and patience required for him to blossom. Stop in today to meet this sweet handsome guy!

Story
I am a big goofy boy who just so happens to be searching for his new forever family. I am an energetic pup who would love to have a home that will take me on daily walks, or maybe some long weekend adventures like camping! I enjoy playing with my toys, and with my people, but I sometimes get a little over excited and have been known to use my chompers during play....OOPS, SORRY! My shelter family says they know I don't mean to use my teefs on my people during playtime, and that I just need someone to help me learn some manners, which I'm totally down to learn! You may have noticed that my eyes look a little yucky in my photo, and that's because I have something called entropion. Entropion is a genetic condition that causes my eyelids to roll inward, and as a result my fur and eyelashes are constantly rubbing against my eyes. This causes me a great deal of pain and discomfort, and unfortunately for me, it has led to partial vision loss 😞 I will be getting surgery to fix the entropion when I get neutered, and although I'll be much more comfortable, my vision will unfortunately remain limited. That's okay though, because I'm still an awesome pup regardless of how well I can see! I have gotten along well with other dogs I have met so far, but of course a meet and greet is always required if there are other pups in your home to make sure that we will be a good match for each other! My shelter family says I will require a home with older human kiddos (16+) who are able to respect my boundaries as my poor vision causes me to startle easily when someone reaches towards me unexpectedly. I want nothing more than to offer a lifetime of love to a very special family to call my own. Could you be that special family that I've been searching for? Come meet me and we will find out!

Hi! I'm Badger! Intake Date: 2/24/2025 Intake Type: Transfer from Bath DCO (surrender) Gender: neutered male DOB: 5/24/24 Breed: medium sized mixed breed Happy, fun, energetic, and goofy. All qualities that describe me! My new family needs to be somewhat active to match my puppy energy. Daily walks, hikes, or a nice long game of fetch would help me burn off some of that extra energy! After we're all tuckered out, we can curl up on the couch and just hang out! I seem to be okay with other pups, but if we're being honest, they kind of make me a little nervous at first, and I'm not quite sure how to even play with another dog! Of course a meet and greet is always required if there are other pups in the home to make sure we all get along! My shelter family thinks I would do best in a home with kiddos a little on the older side (12+) as I don't really understand how strong I am and I haven't quite figured out that I shouldn't jump all over people when I'm happy to see them! I have not been around any kitties, but my shelter family thinks I could adjust to a home with a dog savvy feline friend if introduced properly. My new family also needs to understand that I will need some continued training, to help me be the best pup I can be, but I promise I will do my best to learn super quick! What do you think? Could I be the pup you've been searching for? Come meet me and we will find out!
