Story
Meet Lauryn Hill, the hip hop Princess. 🎼🎤Brethren...Sistren...Guys, you know you better...watch out....It seemed she lost the game before she even started to play (IYKYK)...This sweet mama came to us via a craigslist post where she was being given away as a young pregnant mama. One of our fosters saw the post and offered to take her in. Once safe in the hands of Boxers and Buddies and her Foster mom's care, she gave birth to 7 perfect little pups. Lauryn's hip hop wonder pups are now 5 weeks old and are starting to no longer need their mama, which means that she will soon be looking for a home of her own. She is currently living in a home with several other dogs of varying sizes and cats. She is a bit nervous around her foster's brother, but she is working with a trainer to find some confidence around him. We believe Lauryn to be a 2 year old pit mix. She will be spayed, fully vaccinated, and microchipped by the end of next week. If you are interested in meeting Lauryn Hill, please fill out an adoption application at Boxersandbuddies.comWe require professional obedience training from a certified trainer for ALL adoptions. Story
We are excited to give you an update on Tyler. This guy loves a mix of high energy and alone time. After some play time, Tyler likes to relax on the floor away from his person entertaining himself with toys. He has learned to "relax on the mat" which is where Tyler learns to slow down and settle on his own without the assistance or attention of others. This is a life skill many adopters are looking for in a house dog, but not many shelter dogs may possess this skill without some level of intervention or shaping. Tyler has been a model student while working with our staff to learn this skill. Tyler enjoys playing tug with rope toys (although we are working on dropping it when asked) and is for the most part gentle with his stuffed toys, never tearing them or destuffing them. High intensity activities like tug, fetch, running around loose while his humans run, or ruffling his fur all over the place can overstimulate Tyler at times which can lead to him make choices which aren't the best like mouthing leashes. When the environment is calm, Tyler is calm. Tyler is still working on his leash skills. He likes to check-in with his person and then galivant about onto his next mission which can result in strong pulling. He has made great progress with pausing upon feeling leash pressure and coming back to check in with his handler for a treat instead of continuing to pull. Tyler knows how to sit using both verbal and hand signals. He can give his paw when a hand is held up almost level with his head but he does not have the verbal cue down yet. He also knows how to lay down when you tap your foot on the ground. He does not know the verbal cue for down and has a hard time with the hand signal but excels in the foot tap method and will even place his chin against the floor or on his paws. He knows up and off with a hand sweeping towards the requested direction and is working on translating this into the agility course. The perfect person for Tyler would be interested in pursuing a lifelong partner in crime that will always be learning new skills and may even like to try a sporting event like FastCAT, agility, scent work, barn hunt, dock diving, or obedience. He has a special spark in him that grows brighter the more he is engaged. While Tyler has shown the ability to play with other dogs and has history from his original owners that he likes other dogs, he would do best with someone that wants to focus on learning about him and his quirks prior to introducing more animals into the equation. In the shelter he has shown resource guarding tendencies towards other dogs when he is eating or receiving attention/treats with attention in his kennel. His response in these events is to growl, bark, muzzle punch the gate with teeth and follow the animal if it moves past the kennel walking. He has not shown any resource guarding tendencies with humans and has allowed staff to remove a sandwich, a taco, and trash from his mouth without so much as a pause. With that being said, Tyler LOVES human food and will get on any counter, trash, or in any purse for a little (or HUGE) bite of whatever you have, so his adopters will need to be good about watching him in the kitchen and not leaving food out. He does well with bags of dog treats and dog food on the counters, but sometimes human food just smells a little too irresistible...as long as it is not fish. Tyler gives fish a big paws down. He would love to meet you and show you his skills. Stop by soon...he will be waiting.

Story
Coco is getting great reviews from our volunteers. He knows sit and will patiently wait for his collar and harness. He is an amazing loose leash walker and will sit when his person stops walking. He is known to run a full speed across the yard when called but will stop just in time and sit for a treat. This guy also has polite house manners. We love him and so will you!
