STAR is a foster-based rescue. All our rescue animals stay in foster homes until adoption. We do not have a central facility. If you want to meet any of our adoptables please submit an application. Hi! My name is Candy Corn! I got my name not only because I am SO sweet....but because my foster mom found me on the side of the road when she was on her way to a vet appointment with her other foster puppies and she lured me with candy corn! I was super skinny and all on my own, and I was scared. She tossed me some candy corn, and I scarfed it right up I was so hungry. It also showed me that I had nothing to be afraid of, so I was brave and went to the vet with her. They found out that all though I clearly hadn't been taken care of and I was skinny with fleas, I was in great health otherwise and SO very sweet. I was SO appreciative to be found by a kind person. I am a petite little thing, and probably mixed with a smaller breed. The vet guessed I will top out about 40lbs so I will stay on the smaller size. I am heartworm negative and already microchipped and up to date on my vaccinations. I have also been dewormed and on flea/tick/heartworm prevention. I love to give kisses and cuddle and I am very submissive. I get along great with other animals including cats and I am gentle so I would be great with kids! If you are interested in meeting me, I would love a forever family of my own! I will be spayed and the rest of my vetting completed on 10/21 so I could go home after that! AGE DISCLAIMER: Unfortunately, most of the orphaned animals that come into our rescue looking for homes don’t bring birth certificates. Sometimes we know our pets’ ages. Sometimes we don’t. So we make our best guess based on the condition of their teeth and the veterinarians best guess. BREED DISCLAIMER: Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label . Microchips: For the safety of our dogs and peace of mind of our fosters and adopters, STAR microchips all dogs prior to adoption with Petlink Microchips. Please understand that all dogs MUST still wear a collar with ID tags (which include your current information) AT ALL TIMES. Please remember, our foster dogs are extremely important to us-- we will always take any of our dogs back, if for any reason you can't keep your adopted dog. Never surrender him/her to a shelter!
