Story
Meet Moonlight! This shy guy will need an understanding family that can go slow and help him feel safe. When he is comfortable, he likes to give gentle kisses, cuddle, and play with squeaky toys. Once he gets to know you, he`s all paws in, and loves deeply! He also enjoys playing with other dogs and could do well with an energetic, fun doggie sibling! Moonlight will need a home without children or cats, and would benefit from meeting any doggy siblings prior to adoption. Moonlight`s family should be prepared to work with a positive reinforcement trainer to help ease his anxiety around handling, such as grooming and nail trims. Moonlight is ready to be your new best friend! Come meet him today

Story
Hi my name is Darla! My foster parent says I`m a very cuddly and friendly girl; my big ears are like a radar for finding new friends! I like to go for long walks to get all of the ` doggie news` via interesting smells. I can be pretty energetic, but that should be expected from a young lady like me. Once I get my fill, I take nice big naps just like the rest of them! If you have a dog already who you would like me to be siblings with, I would need to meet them first to make sure we get along. Some dogs can intimidate me, but I am working on understanding that dogs can be my friend. I would absolutely love to meet you!`Have you ever thought about adding an addition to your family like a cat, dog etc.? If so, would you want a hamster, guinea pig, dog, cat, or something else? Would you want a cuddly or hyper pet? Would you like to take naps, play, cuddle? If the answers were a dog, cuddly pet, and yes then Darla’s a great choice! You should adopt Darla because… First a lot of people love cuddling. Do you? Well, Darla does and she’ll cuddle with you every day and that`s fun. Secondly she loves naps and she will definitely nap with you if you want and I’m sure you`ll have fun. Finally she`s loving and just wants a family that loves her. In conclusion you should adopt Darla from the humane society.` - written by a 4th Grader at Eberwhite ElementaryDarla is currently living in one of our wonderful foster homes. Story
Hi my name is Ralphie! I am a fun, playful guy who has been waiting for a home with my HSHV friends for a little while. During my stay, I have been the favorite of quite a few volunteers and staff, who say that I am very smart and picking up well on my training. It can be hard to be an active dog without an outlet, but I am trying my absolute best to still show my best self to everyone. What is my best home for my best self, you may ask? A home where I can be your only pet is for me, as I have struggled to live with dogs and cats in the past. Please give me a chance to show how great I can be!Ralphie went on a shelter break with a foster parent, who had incredible things to say about him!`Ralphie knows sit, paw, lay, and stay and is a great listener. He is very smart, is a master with the kong, and loves to eat his meals out of it. He sleeps through the night with no issue and is very well-behaved. He is the best of both worlds- loves to play but also loves to cuddle on the couch.`
