Story
Poppy is an owner-surrender by an owner who can no longer take care of her (no fault of Poppy’s). Despite being about 5 years old, she has young pittie energy: She likes to play and she loves long walks and would benefit from a yard. She often gets excited when she sees you and wants to give you lots of kisses. She loves all people and most other dogs. She loves going to doggy daycare and is everyone’s darling there. She does not guard food with humans but can display mild guarding behaviors with animals. She is patient and tender with kids and loves them so much you will have to have a strategy to keep the youngest ones out of her tongue’s reach. While she is energetic, she is also cuddly. She loves building nests with blankets and loves snuggling up to you even more. She currently lives with cats and loves them but we’re not sure the cats love her back. She’d profit from a dog buddy but would be fine without

Story
DAISY (watch my video!) Female, spayed 2 years old Pit bull terrier 52 lbs. Microchipped, up-to-date on core vaccines and takes monthly flea/tick/heartworm prevention Good with kids, Untested with dogs, not good with cats Follow Daisy on Instagram at #lovepaws_daisy Daisy is a sweet, cuddly girl with a gentle disposition. She is crate trained, potty trained and is a fast learner! Her foster describes her as smart and playful. Daisy loves to cuddle on the couch and stretch her body out as long as possible to make sure she is touching her human. She insists on laying her head on pillows like a princess. When given the choice of dog beds, she always chooses the smallest one to curl up in like a cozy donut. She is extremely smart and can learn new commands in a single day! Daisy likes to sleep in late, cuddled up with her person. Upon waking, she loves a good stretch and belly rub before getting up. After breakfast, she enjoys a good walk to sniff and chase squirrels or maybe even go for a run. She spends her day snoozing in a good sun spot or curled up on the couch. Sometimes, her toy hedgehog catches her eye and she loves making it squeak and tossing it around!  She would do well with formal training for structured walks as the squirrels get her excited to play! Daisy is ready for a forever home where she can receive all the love and cuddles! Interested in adopting? Of course you are! Submit an application here!  March 9, 2025, 2:11 pm

Story
TY Male, neutered 2 years old Pit bull terrier 60 lbs. Microchipped, up-to-date on core vaccines and takes monthly flea/tick/heartworm prevention Crate trained, leash trained Good with other large dogs, adults and kids. Untested with cats and small dogs Follow Ty on Instagram at #lovepaws_ty Ty is a sweet, playful boy who had a difficult start at life. He was deserted by his family and picked up by PG County Shelter. There he quickly contracted kennel cough and was in isolation for weeks until he healed. He DID heal, only to be put on the urgent list at risk for euthanasia within a week. He was rescued and brought home with foster mom a mere 3 hours before his scheduled euthanasia. The first thing his foster noticed is that Ty is very quiet. He rarely barks or growls, and whines softly and briefly when he is protesting something. He LOVES riding in the car, especially with the window down. He is a fantastic co-pilot, very polite and respectful in the car. Ty enjoys a sniffy walk through the woods or a field on a long lead and is super gracious about checking in with his human as he explores. He doesn’t want to get too far away from his person. Ty leads with his nose, like a bloodhound, and would be great with scent work! He knows ‘sit’ and ‘lay’ perfectly, doing them on his own in certain situations. He also knows ‘down’ but picks and chooses when he wants to obey that one. He would benefit from consistent training, as he is very toy and food motivated but sometimes has a mind of his own and shows a bit of resource guarding with his beloved toys and food. Ty is really tolerant of grooming, especially with a PB lick mat in the bathtub! He does have allergies (to what, still unclear) but does well on his salmon and brown rice kibble. Needs a slow feeder because he eats fast. Ty takes medicine really easily; he just eats it like it is a snack. He doesn’t enjoy ear drops (who does?) but doesn’t give much trouble. His typical day is to wake up early, eat breakfast then head out on a walk to sniff around the neighborhood. He spends his day gnawing on a Kong or a very tough rubber ball (ideally with treats, but the gnawing itself is what he loves), and take a nap. After napping, he enjoys more time outside playing fetch or walking, then a car ride to Starbucks for a pup cup! Another snooze before dinner, then a hearty dinner with a side of carrots or apples. After dinner he enjoys more ball gnawing, or a game of tug-o-war, gnawing on the rope, and then wind down with a nice snuggle with his human (he doesn’t really like to be on a couch). Then a final pee break and into his crate for a full night of sleep. Interested in adopting? Of course you are! Submit an application here!  December 9, 2024, 5:20 pm
