Story
Kay is a lovely girl who has been coming out of her shell and is turning into a social pup. She bonds quickly to humans and likes to stay very close. She doesn’t seem to have any issues with other dogs, and passes them calmly, as long as they don't get too close to her preferred human friend. She is friendly and loving, and will make a great addition to just about any home. Kay is currently in a foster home. If you're interested in her, please email KSwanson@cityofberkeley.info First, we'll set up a virtual meeting with their current foster family via phone, Zoom, or Facetime, to provide you with more detailed information. Then, if you feel that Kay might be a good adoption fit, shelter staff will gladly coordinate an up-close and personal meet and greet with your potential family member. Thank you for your support!

Story
Shampers is a tender-hearted, shy girl who needs just a little time and patience to feel safe with new people. She's naturally curious, though, and with a slow, gentle approach, she’ll start checking you out in no time. Once she realizes you’re a friend, she’ll quietly start following along, often tagging behind her person on walks, as if she's trying to stay in the background while still enjoying your company. Loud noises can make Shampers anxious, but in our playroom, she’s beginning to find her confidence. When it comes to other dogs, Shampers really comes alive. Her playful side emerges when she feels safe, and she thrives in the presence of calm, confident dogs who help her feel secure and bring out her playful, carefree side. She looks to them for reassurance, and their companionship shows her that people and the world around her aren't as intimidating as they might seem. She might be hesitant to ask for attention at first, but once you start petting her, she won’t want you to stop! She’s a young dog, full of potential, and just waiting for the right person to show her that the world isn’t so scary after all. Shampers is currently in a foster home. If you're interested in her, please email KSwanson@cityofberkeley.info First, we'll set up a virtual meeting with their current foster family via phone, Zoom, or Facetime, to provide you with more detailed information. Then, if you feel that Shampers might be a good adoption fit, shelter staff will gladly coordinate an up-close and personal meet and greet with your potential family member. Story
This is Cole, one of our longest residents who really wants a home. It’s no fun for a puppy to grow up in a shelter kennel. Cole is a nice young pup who's looking for a new start. He is a little shy of strangers at first, and may give you a spooky little bark. But if you show him some affection and some treats, he'll be your best friend pretty quickly. He loves lap time in the playroom, even though he's a little big for that! He also loves other dogs and would do well with a companion dog in the home to show him the ropes. Cole can be pretty high energy sometimes, like any respectable young dog, and another dog would also help him get out some of that fun energy. Cole also settles nicely with his human friends. Once he gets the lay of the land, we think Cole will do well in a home – he just needs a chance, and someone to fall in love with him as much as our volunteers have!
