Story
Kay is a lovely girl who has been coming out of her shell and is turning into a social pup. She bonds quickly to humans and likes to stay very close. She doesn’t seem to have any issues with other dogs, and passes them calmly, as long as they don't get too close to her preferred human friend. She is friendly and loving, and will make a great addition to just about any home. Kay is currently in a foster home. If you're interested in her, please email KSwanson@cityofberkeley.info First, we'll set up a virtual meeting with their current foster family via phone, Zoom, or Facetime, to provide you with more detailed information. Then, if you feel that Kay might be a good adoption fit, shelter staff will gladly coordinate an up-close and personal meet and greet with your potential family member. Thank you for your support!

Story
This is Balto, a wonderful boy who is both handsome and sensitive. He’s a bit perplexed to have found himself in a shelter and doesn’t love being in a kennel—who does? So while he may not show his true colors in his kennel, once outside, Balto is a breeze to walk and truly enjoys spending quality time with his human pals in the great outdoors. He would be thrilled to join you on walks or hikes, but he’s just as content to lounge around the house after a fun day of adventures by your side. He’s very human-focused and thrives on companionship, but has no problem keeping himself entertained chewing on his favorite squeaky toy or throwing his ball in the air for himself. As long as his human is near, Balto is happy! He is also a playgroup superstar, adjusting his play style to match each dog he meets, making him a great addition to any family. While he gets along wonderfully with most dogs, he cannot live in a household with cats, his playful nature and zest for life are too much for feline friends! He’s an all-around great dog with a heart full of affection, so if you’re looking for a loyal companion who will bring joy, laughter, and plenty of love to your life, Balto is the perfect match.

Story
Shampers is a tender-hearted, shy girl who needs just a little time and patience to feel safe with new people. She's naturally curious, though, and with a slow, gentle approach, she’ll start checking you out in no time. Once she realizes you’re a friend, she’ll quietly start following along, often tagging behind her person on walks, as if she's trying to stay in the background while still enjoying your company. Loud noises can make Shampers anxious, but in our playroom, she’s beginning to find her confidence. When it comes to other dogs, Shampers really comes alive. Her playful side emerges when she feels safe, and she thrives in the presence of calm, confident dogs who help her feel secure and bring out her playful, carefree side. She looks to them for reassurance, and their companionship shows her that people and the world around her aren't as intimidating as they might seem. She might be hesitant to ask for attention at first, but once you start petting her, she won’t want you to stop! She’s a young dog, full of potential, and just waiting for the right person to show her that the world isn’t so scary after all.
