Get to know Wilma: Wilma's a simple gal, a southern belle, and currently recovering from a bad injury- she was found outside a "car repair" place.... they didn't know how to repair a puppy so she was taken to the rescue after she was found. It was a really scary and sad situation but for Wilma, it started her REAL life- one of love and eating regularly and having HOPE! She's an absolute cutie with her scruffy ears and few spots on her white coat. She has a pretty smile and loves to wag her tail. The rescue people think Wilma is a Standard Poodle/Sheepdog mix... she has such a wonderful and outgoing personality. She is great with all people she meets and the smile she shares will melt everyone's heart, so be prepared!!! She'll be living a bit more laid back right now as her recovery process progresses. No high energy play or crazy activities. But that won't be for long!!! I is a youngster of just turning one this month. I came from a home where I got to be too much for them to handle so I spent my days AND nights in a crate. My coat was all matted and I had sores on my body from sitting in a dirty crate and was a little on the malnourished side. Well, my coat has been clipped, my body has healed, I'm eating good... and I've had a bath so I smell so good now!!!! I am so excited to be out and enjoying being a dog! I is athletic, playful, and super affectionate. I'm always up for trying new things, whether it's chasing after a ball or exploring a new hiking trail. I could even make a great jogging pawtner! I haven't had much training in the manners department and I will need some continued work in that area. I will jump up when I get excited or when meeting new people. But already I'm doing better just from having some outlet for all my energy. As a young 'un, I does have plenty of that energy and I is always ready for fun. I have that happy innocent adventurous spirit who loves to explore and check out new smells. I come in at about 45lbs but still need a few extra groceries to get to my ideal weight. But, I'm still gonna be that pawsomely perfect medium size for living life to the fullest with ALL the adventures we'll be going on!!! I do great with people but I might be a little too much for the small kiddos. I would though probably do great with the older ones where we could have a blast playing in the yard. I also do fabulous with the other pups in my foster home. Although I haven't had the pleasure of meeting any of those creatures y'all call a cat yet. I am a very loving girl that loves to be with my people. When my people come back home after being gone I flop right over onto my back for belly scratches. I am excellent with other dogs and love to wrestle and do zoomies with my foster siblings both inside and outside! I do also know how to relax and am what some would call a professional sun bather. Foster mom says I am always a glass half full kind of gal- always smiling, always ready to please my human. I am fully potty trained and do well in my crate. I do need a little more help on leash training but I am smart so it shouldn't take too much work. I do get a bit carsick so I will need some practice in that department. If you are looking for a pup who will make you the center of the world I am her! I’m a growing puppy and I have not yet had a lot of experience with crates, kids or cats and I might bark if something alarms me, but I really love to learn and hoping for a family who will take me to a basic obedience class to continue to help me build confidence and dog skills. Ideally my forever home would need to be home during the day to help me with my potty training and not leave me for breaks longer than 3 - 4 hours. Since coming to Underdog, this puppy has been in a socialized and loving home, but that needs to be continued with its Adopters. Training classes teach puppies the ins and outs of being a pet while creating a bond with their new Adopter. Obedience classes are key to creating a relationship with your puppy while having it be a happy and successful member of society. Proof of Obedience Class registration is required for this puppy before adoptions can be finalized. If you would like some suggestions, we would be happy to send some trainers who have experience with Underdog Rescue, but a Basic Obedience class in your area should work! P   lease note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe.
