Story
Meet Maghie, a 62-pound Collie mix who’s basically the canine equivalent of a cozy sweater—soft, warm, and guaranteed to make you feel good inside! With a heart full of love and a tail that could power a small wind turbine, Maghie is here to steal your heart and perhaps a bit of your snack. This lovely lady came to us after she was surrendered to the shelter at 6 years old because her family was moving to an apartment and couldn’t take her along. It’s a bit wild, considering we think she would do just fine in an apartment setting! Their loss is someone's else gain though because this girl is just so perfect!

Story
Hey there, future family! The name's Scuffles, but don't let that fool you—I'm not here to fight, I’m here to cuddle, snack, and get my zoomies on! At 6 years young, I'm a mix of mystery (Corgi? Sheltie? Dachshund? The world may never know, just like the age-old question of how many licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop or if Pineapple really belongs on pizza...But that’s a story for another time…However, if you’re wondering how many snuggles it takes to win my heart, the answer is… one. Or maybe just one good belly rub, I’m not picky. Oh, and before you think I’m all just fluff and cuddles, I’ve had my share of adventures—some of them a little less glamorous than I would’ve liked. I came to Pyr Paws after being found abandoned in a field. It wasn’t exactly the best start, but I’m a survivor. I wasn’t feeling too great when I was found, so I ended up at the vet shortly after I was rescued, where they discovered I had pyometra (that’s a pretty serious infection in female dogs, if you didn’t know). It was an emergency, but I’m tough, and they got me fixed up with surgery. Now? Well, I’m healthier than ever and just ready to live my best life. I’ve got plenty of energy, and I’m back to being my playful, snuggly, curious self. I’m not letting my past slow me down, and I’m just looking for a family who’ll love me, care for me, and give me all the attention and treats I deserve. A few things about me: I’m a bit shy at first (like when you meet a new person, and you're not sure if you two are going to hit it off or just awkwardly stare at one another). But once I know you, I’ll cheerfully greet you with my trademark adorable wiggle—especially when food is involved (seriously, who doesn’t love food?). Now, let’s talk about my size. I’m a compact little bundle of joy, weighing in at a whopping 25 pounds—basically the same size as a large house cat, but with way more personality (and less hairball-related drama). Now, about my lowrider status—be prepared for a whole new perspective on life. I’m the perfect height to keep an eye on all things snack-related, and I’m small enough to sneak into tight places..But don’t worry, my short little legs won’t stop me from keeping up with the pack. I may get knocked around a bit during backyard games (sometimes I’m the football, sometimes I’m the player), but I’m tough, and I love being part of the crew. Pack life for the win! Dare to open the fridge in the kitchen? Get ready for the sprint of the century—I might be short, but my speed when I smell food is Olympic-level. You’ll swear I’ve grown legs for a second... until I hit the corner and have to do a little hop to get around. 🏅When I’m happy (which is pretty much always), get ready for my signature move: the wiggle. It’s a low-slung butt wiggle, and it’s as adorable as it sounds. If you’ve never seen a lowrider shaking its behind in sheer joy, well, prepare for your heart to melt. Oh, you have no idea how cute I get when I’m feeling a little silly! When I’m in a playful mood, especially if I’m feeling extra cozy and happy, I’ll let out this adorable little moan. It’s hard to describe, but it’s like the world’s cutest little groan, only it’s definitely not from discomfort. It's more like my version of a happy sigh, when I’m feeling silly but still super content. It’s that moment when you know you’re being extra precious, but you’re too busy enjoying yourself to care. Oh, I love my fellow four-legged pals, big and small. As long as they don’t mind a little personal space (I’m a lowrider, after all—sometimes, it’s hard to dodge the elbows of taller dogs in the yard!), I get along with everyone. Whether they want to play, run around the yard, or just chill, I’m all in. I might not have the zoomie stamina of some of the bigger dogs, but I’m more than happy to join the fun or just hang out, soaking in the good vibes. No need to worry if I’m going to start trouble—I’m all about maintaining harmony in the pack. Now, cats? Oh, don’t get me started. I can’t imagine not liking another animal—if it has fur, I’m already smitten. Cats are basically just another type of fluff to me, and I’m sure we’d have a blast together. Just picture us—me, a little lowrider, all innocent and sweet, sharing the same space. You know, like a peaceful animal kingdom. Children? Well, I haven’t had much of a chance to meet them yet, but I think they’d love me. I’m small, gentle, and so snuggly, I’m basically the perfect pint-sized cuddle buddy. I don’t get rattled easily, and I’m good at keeping my cool, even when the excitement level rises. So if you’ve got kids, I’m pretty sure we’d make an adorable team—just as long as they can handle a few lowrider wiggles and moans of happiness! In short, whether it’s other dogs, cats, or kids, I’m ready to be your loyal, loving, and slightly snoozy little companion. Just say the word! Ah, car rides—my favorite! Well, almost my favorite. I’ll be honest, I’m not exactly the type to hop in the front seat and grab the wheel (though I would look adorable doing it, don’t you think?). I definitely need a little lift to get into the car, but once I’m in? Oh, it’s smooth sailing. I’ll happily curl up and chill out in the seat, letting the breeze whip through my ears. If you're driving, I’m content to just lie down, relax, and let the road do its thing. But—big but—if you stop for more than a second, I might try to sneak into the shotgun seat. I mean, it’s just a natural instinct to want the best view, right? When it comes to outings, I’m totally down. Take me to the pet store, the cafe, or even a social gathering—I'm ready to go wherever the adventure leads! I'm one of those dogs who loves to be part of the action, but I’m also very good at playing it cool. Whether it’s meeting new people or sniffing the aisles of a store, I’ll just roll with it, keeping my lowrider charm intact. No drama here—just a small bundle of joy taking in the world one sniff at a time. But don’t worry, I’m just as happy being a homebody. I mean, who doesn’t love a cozy couch or a snuggly pillow? You won’t hear me complaining about staying in. I’m all for a chill day at home with you, maybe a little nap here, some petting there. Life’s good when you’re the queen of your own domain. Leash walks? Oh yeah, I’m a pro. I’ll happily go for a stroll with you, and I’m very well mannered on a leash. No pulling, no tug-of-war, just a peaceful, leisurely walk—maybe with a little hop in my step every now and then (I do love a good walk, after all). You won’t have to worry about me trying to trip you up or drag you around. I’m the perfect walking buddy, always by your side and ready to enjoy whatever the walk brings. As for meeting new people, I’m a total gentlepupper. Calm, collected, and polite—I love making new friends, whether they’re two-legged or four. You’ll never see me turning into a whirlwind of excitement (unless we're talking about food or treats), just a sweet and well-mannered little thing, happy to greet everyone with my lowrider wiggle and maybe a few little licks to say hello. So, let me give you the lowdown on me—my overall vibe is pretty chill, but with a dash of playful energy sprinkled in. Outside, I’m like a little rocket, bouncing around with the other dogs and soaking up the sun. You might even catch me doing the occasional zoomie (because let’s face it, who doesn’t love a good sprint for no reason?)—but don’t expect me to keep it up for long. My short legs, as cute as they are, don’t quite have the stamina for a marathon, but I can get my wiggle on when the mood strikes. Inside? I’m more of a low-key, relax-and-chill kind of girl. I’ll curl up on my pillow, hang out, and probably catch a nap, maybe with a little snoring symphony if I’m in a particularly deep sleep. I’m really good at keeping it calm when we're indoors. I’m like the ultimate balance of "let’s get playful outside" and "I’m a serene little floof inside."Now, about that whole fetch thing… honestly, I don’t really get it. You throw something, I look at it, and then I think, “Why am I running after that? It's just… there.” So, yeah, fetch isn’t really my thing. I’d much rather hang out with you, get some pets, and do a little lowrider wiggle to show my appreciation. I mean, really, who wants to chase things when you can just sit and look cute, right? Oh, an apartment? Yes, please! I’m small, serene, and low-key—basically the perfect little companion for cozy spaces. I’m not much of a barker (unless there’s very important business to attend to, like someone walking by the building or a bird daring to flutter too close to the window), so I won’t be disturbing the peace. Most of the time, I’m just hanging out, enjoying my pillow or lounging on the couch. I’ll even let you get all your work done while I snuggle up and take a nap. As for potty training—yep, I’ve got that down! Kennel? Oh yeah, I’m totally fine with that. Now, about that couch—yep, I claim it. It's just too comfy not to, and honestly, who could resist curling up and taking in a nap with you after a long day? (Plus, the couch is the best spot for an impromptu cuddle session, and I am all about the cuddles.) As for having free roam of the house, I’ve been trusted with that before, but I’ll admit—I’ve started getting a little mischievous now that I’m feeling better. You know how some people chew their pens? Yeah, I like to munch on a good cardboard box or a basket when I’m feeling a bit "extra". So, we’re trying out some morning walks to help me burn off my energy, and I think it’s working! I’m definitely learning that a little exercise goes a long way in keeping me on my best behavior. I’m not looking for an "until" dog situation—I’m in this for the long haul, the forever kind of love. You know what I mean by “until,” right? Like, the kind of dog who’s only there "until the kids grow up" or "until you move to a different city" or "until you decide you want a bigger dog." Well, I’m not that girl. I’m not interested in being the temporary cuddle buddy or the “just for now” companion. Nope, I want to be your forever dog. So, if you’re looking for a dog who’s ready to stick around and be your forever friend, look no further. I’m here for the long haul—not just the “until.” Let’s make it official. I promise I’ll make it worth your while. 📍 Pickup In Sand Springs, OK
