This sweet girl will likely walk into your home and act like it’s been hers all along. She loves to cuddle but will also lie at your feet happily. In her prior home she was an only dog living with an elderly woman. Vesta probably prefers to be the only dog and have your undivided attention. Like many shelties, she can be a diva. She also likes to have a routine, so Vesta will do best in a home where her life won’t be chaotic. Her current routine with her fosters includes two walks about 12 hours apart to burn off that sheltie energy. Vesta walks very well on the leash. She hasn’t had any accidents in the house and doesn’t need to be crated. After her second walk, she sleeps through the night. Vesta will bark at other dogs on her walks, but she is already improving and learning the word “quiet.”  Some days she loves to play tug and fetch, and other days she prefers not to play. This girl knows her own mind! Vesta has been a bit anxious meeting new people and might be slightly wary with men. She is still learning what it’s like to be around more than one older person who was her whole world. Vesta will make a wonderful, loyal companion for someone who wants to lavish love and attention on her and be showered with love and cuddles in return. Honey often hears people tell her “you are the cutest thing in the world,” and we would agree. A velcro dog in the house with her foster, outside she can be found chasing birds or running figure eights in her fenced-in yard (she did race into a pond after a duck once, so she needs to be watched under those circumstances). She gets along well with smaller dogs but is a bit wary when meeting large dogs. This young lady is definitely treat-motivated. She loves her own treats and takes every opportunity to steal the resident dog's treats and stash them in her crate, along with any toys lying about. Her fosters are working on commands. Honey is learning to respect cats after a swipe of her nose. She walks well on a leash and seems to be fine with children, but she is a bit jealous when the humans pay attention to them. She does stick right by her foster mom unless she needs to burn off a little energy. When that happens she races up and down the steps as fast as her legs can carry her and then is ready to settle down. She did not seem to notice thunder but is frightened by loud unexpected household noises. Honey does take a little time to warm up to new people but is soon rolling on her back to get her favorite…belly rubs. Midnight is a cute, young sheltie with a personality that is blossoming as he gets familiar with his foster family. His soulful eyes let you know he really likes being with his people, and he happily follows his foster mom around the house. He always enjoys cuddling and being petted. Outside he might be found doing zoomies, and he was eager to get to know and play with the resident dogs as he wagged his tail in greeting. Midnight is a little shy around men but very affectionate with women and children once he gets to know them. He is crate trained and uses it both at night and if he wants a break from the other dogs. House training is in process, but he’s nearly there. He is a bit fearful of unexpected noises, but his life has changed a lot in the last two weeks, and his foster says he is more at home with them each day. He is looking for a forever family who will love and care for him, and he is full of love to give them in return.
