Story
To make the adoption process faster and easier, please visit www.almosthomeohio.org and complete our online application! Wendy has only begun to settle at her foster mom’s, but she has already proven that she loves cuddling. Wendy also enjoys playing with toys. When first outside, she becomes an explorer. It’s a good thing the one command she knows is “come.” She hasn’t shown her foster mom what motivates her to learn yet, but she’s still in the early days of her foster care. Wendy is shy and quite anxious around cats. Loud noises are not her friends. However, she was around dogs without problems before being fostered. In the vet’s office, she didn’t react to the other dogs.    Wendy will hopefully become less anxious and blossom as she learns and trusts that she is truly loved unconditionally.   Dont forget to visit our informative website, www.almosthomeohio.org, for valuable information and interesting features.January 28, 2025, 6:06 pm

Story
To make the adoption process faster and easier, please visit www.almosthomeohio.org and complete our online application! Casey is 3-5 yrs old. Casey is in the very first days of what will be a wonderful life, she just doesn’t know it yet. She is anxious and stays in the back of her crate to watch what is going on around her. She is scared to meet dogs and people. Her foster mom thinks one day Casey may be okay with older kids, but she is so easily spooked by being touched and loud noises that younger children wouldn’t be a good fit. She hates the cold and snow so far. Casey only eats food and drinks water when alone in a room. However, there are glimmers of hope. She was fine meeting the two resident cats at the same time and only sniffed them. Another sign of her true personality is that she is absolutely fascinated by TV and will lie in her foster mom’s lap watching attentively. Casey will do best in a calm, typically quiet home.    This is a glimpse of the condition in which some dogs enter AHDRO’s care. Consistent, unconditional love and the best of care can make miraculous changes. Time and patience is needed. Casey is only “almost home.” One day she will be home, where she will truly blossom.  Dont forget to visit our informative website, www.almosthomeohio.org, for valuable information and interesting features.January 24, 2025, 9:50 pm

Story
PHYSICAL FENCE PREFERRED I am just a little thing. Commonly called a Shetland Sheepdog or Sheltie for short. Life has not been kind to me but as most Shelties will tell you, we are a resilient lot! I was used as a breeder and then when my usefulness ended, I was given up. The best part is that the good folks at TriState Collie Rescue took me in!! My foster mom has worked really hard with me to let me know that humans are good and that there are kind people that really care about me as a sentient creature. I would love to have another companion dog that can help to build my confidence. Plus, I’ve learned how much fun it is to play with other dogs. Since I can startle easily, a fenced in yard is the safest for me so I can be allowed to run and play. And cats don’t bother me one bit. Kids are ok too as long as they understand I am still learning and gaining confidence. I am working really hard to overcome my past and be a good girl! Are you the one that will help me finally live my dream of being loved?! If Lindy strikes your fancy and you are ready to help her continue to be the best Sheltie citizen ever, please fill out an adoption application today! Don’t wait! And if Lindy isn’t your cup of tea, we have many more Collies of all ages coming in weekly. Please visit https://tristatecollierescue.org/how-to-adopt/ to complete the adoption application. Lindy is being fostered in Ohio If you are interested in this dog; and wish additional information, you MUST submit an application on our website. Once we receive your application, an interviewer will call you and try to answer any additional questions you may have. In order to continue our rescue efforts and help more dogs, we require an adoption donation ranging from $75 - $500, depending on the age, breed and the expenses incurred on the individual dog. Our application can be found at http://www.tristatecollierescue.org/ under the adopt tab. Thank you

Story
PHYSICAL FENCE PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED This pint-sized personality plus cutie seems to be aging backwards with that face! Luke came from a very humble situation but he is not looking back on any of that and moving forward to steal the hearts of everyone he comes in contact with. Luke is very chill with just about everyone he meets. As much as he likes to follow around his human he is equally happy on a comfy lap when it time to rest. Luke loves to take leash walks and enjoys his outside time. And he really enjoys hamming it up for the camera! Luke can be an only dog and cats don’t bother him one bit. He does have some arthritis in his little legs and back but the meds are doing their job to keep this pocket Sheltie in business. If interested in helping Luke continue to be the best Sheltie citizen ever, please fill out an adoption application today! Don’t wait! Story
To make the adoption process faster and easier, please visit www.almosthomeohio.org and complete our online application! Meet sweet Max, a 3-year-old tri-colored collie looking for his forever home. He, along with two other collies, were found wandering the streets and were taken to a shelter. Almost Home Dog Rescue came along and connected him with a loving foster home. His foster family describes him as shy, but he warms up quickly to new people. He loves his foster family and just enjoys their company. He is affectionate and loves his daily snuggles. Max is becoming more comfortable each day. His foster family is teaching him all of his commands and his house manners. Luckily, Max is motivated by food and treats and is eager to learn.   Max has met other dogs, and he greets them happily and is very interested in interaction. He is content playing with his toys independently but also enjoys playing with the other dogs. He is a bit timid at first but has a goofy side as well. He has some anxiety when left alone, but this is improving every day as he gains trust in his new surroundings. Max is very intelligent! His foster family feels with continued guidance and consistency, he will continue to learn. He will be a loving companion to his adopted family.    The adoption fee for Max is $500.Dont forget to visit our informative website, www.almosthomeohio.org, for valuable information and interesting features.December 24, 2024, 4:11 pm

Story
To make the adoption process faster and easier, please visit www.almosthomeohio.org and complete our online application! Fenced-in Yard Required   Cooper is a playful and loving mix (49% Sheltie, 16% Aussie, 12% Collie) with a personality dominated by his Aussie traits. He thrives on outdoor play, indoor cuddles and being part of the household action. Cooper loves toys, treats, learning new tricks, and solving puzzles. A physical fenced-in yard is essential for this energetic boy.   He enjoys the company of both people and dogs but has shown a preference for smaller, non-bulldog breeds. Cooper does well with dog-savvy cats—he may chase them but means no harm. While friendly, he’s protective of his space and cautious with strangers, requiring proper introductions.   Cooper’s ideal owner should have experience with herding breeds, time to dedicate to training, and a home environment where he won’t be left alone often. He’s strong on a leash, so continued training is key, and a physical fenced yard is a must. His crate is his safe haven, and he must have one in his new home.    Resilient, clever and full of love, Cooper is waiting for a forever family who will embrace his quirks and give him the care and attention he deserves. If you’re ready for a devoted companion, Cooper is ready for you!  Dont forget to visit our informative website, www.almosthomeohio.org, for valuable information and interesting features.December 1, 2024, 3:55 pm

His foster mom says he loves to do whatever you are doing. If you’re chilling out, so will Cade. If you want to play or be active, Cade’s your dog. He loves food and treats. He loves people and dogs. This is Cade’s first time living in a home, so he is just beginning in his house training and being taught commands. Even though he’s on the steep end of the puppy’s learning curve, his foster mom says you will love him as soon as you meet him. He greets dogs and people with friendly tail wags. Her mornings are spent sipping coffee with Cade at her side being so thankful to just be petted and be next to her.
