Story
Bear is a handsome, 22-lb black and brown fluffy boy with a big heart and even bigger energy! This shepherd/sheltie mix is full of life, love, and enthusiasm—and he’s looking for an active home that’s ready to give him the attention and playtime he craves. Bear absolutely loves people and will happily try to burrow right into your lap for snuggles. When he’s not cuddling, he’s busy showing off his toys and inviting you to play. His favorite activities include running zoomies in the backyard, playing chase with other dogs, fetch (or soccer!), going on walks, and generally being part of the action. He is house trained, leash trained, and does very well with other dogs of all sizes. Bear currently lives with two small dogs and has also played nicely with a larger Australian Shepherd. He enjoys canine friends and would love a playful dog sibling, though that’s not required. Bear has a high energy level and thrives with lots of play and engagement. He’s still learning not to jump when he’s excited, but he’s eager and responsive. He does bark during play and when people walk by the house, but he settles nicely in the evenings, sleeps through the night, and will even sleep in with you. He may be slightly nervous at first in new situations, especially at the vet, but warms up quickly with reassurance. Medical note: Bear has epilepsy and is currently well-managed on phenobarbital.
