Name: Ana Breed Guess: Sheltie Age: 1 year old Gender: Spayed Female Weight: 30 pounds Shelter Temperament: Sweet & Shy Energy Level: Medium Children: 5 years plus Cats: Will test upon request Dogs: Meet and Greet Required Adoption fee: $525 Hi! I came to Kalamazoo all he way from Mississippi. I'm pretty shy and it takes me a moment to come out of my shell, but I'm a very sweet girl once I do! The Animal Rescue Project (www.animalrescueproject.org) is committed to the best possible veterinary care for the pets it rescues and it is looking for adopters who will be similarly committed. Adoptions are NOT first come, first served! We seek to choose the best fit for the approved adopter and pet. Please understand that these animals are still new to us and their needs and requirements can change at any time as we learn more about them. We will try our best to get them updated online as soon as possible. All dogs and puppies are given a general check-up when they enter our program. They receive medication to remove any intestinal parasites (worms), fleas, and ticks they may have. Dogs greater than six months of age are checked for heartworm. If heartworm positive, the Animal Rescue Project treats the disease. Dogs and pups receive all age-appropriate vaccinations for distemper, and dogs greater than four months of age are also vaccinated for rabies, in compliance with State of Michigan laws. All dogs are also microchipped. Most dogs and older puppies are spayed or neutered before adoption. In the case of puppies not old enough to be safely sterilized, a $50 deposit is required at the time of adoption and is refunded to the adopter with proof of sterilization. The Animal Rescue Project requires every adopter to establish an active relationship with a veterinarian no later than 10 days after adoption. Adopters will receive a plan for routine veterinary care at the time of adoption and are expected to work with their vet to complete the plan.

These pups are in Grand Rapids, Michigan too!

Story
Sweet Sebastian Let me tell you about Sebastian. It’s a sad tale as old as time. It starts with a young pup born into the world full of hopes and dreams, only to be used to bring more puppies into the world. He was locked in a kennel and used for a backyard breeder’s monetary gain over and over again, only to be given away without a care in the world. When you are locked in the kennel for your whole life and only taken out to do your owner's bidding, the world seems like a big and scary place. Sebastian didn’t get a chance to be a dog and when he was given away, he escaped twice from his new owners. After the second escape, an angel named Mary was able to safely trap him and deliver him to Michele's loving arms. Sebastian is one of those special dogs, one of those once in a lifetime dogs for the right person. Sebastian is an old Scottish collie. He is looking for his forever home, but it does require some stipulations; 1. He needs a 6-foot, fenced-in yard.2. He would love another dog to play with and learn how to "dog" from.3. He needs a quiet home with no children; he does not like loud noises and prefers a sedentary life.4. He does not love men; he is all about the ladies. You might ask how we could ever find a perfect home with those requirements? Well, we won’t give up until it happens. If you are a middle-aged woman, your kids have grown, and are looking for the perfect snuggle buddy, then Sebastian is for you.
