Please contact Diane Pedulla (dianep@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.small sweetie seeking fresh start and love! FOXY NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Foxy Best Guess for Breed: Sheltie and terrier mix Best Guess for Age: 1 year as of February 2025 Gender: Female Approximate Weight: 17 lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen her with kids or cats but she can be tested if you have them. Currently Living At: Lucky Dog's South Carolina rescue campus; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to come up here after completing heartworm treatment. Special Adoption Considerations: Foxy is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs. All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care. After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months. We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left! Foxy is Looking For: Her forever home! This adorable little pup landed in the shelter through no fault of her own and she's eager to start her new chapter with her new humans! Long sniffy walks, romps in the park, world exploration - yes, please! And cuddles and snuggles when chilling after a fun day together. Most of all, though, she wants to be safe and loved and under her own roof. In exchange, she promises adoring gazes and tail wags and loyal companionship for all her days. What do you say? Can you see her trotting on her little legs way down there by your side? What My Foster Says About Me: We will update this once she has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with her foster. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training. TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.
