Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Local Kansas City area adoptions ONLY, a secure fenced yard is REQUIRED. Toby is a very shy and timid young adult male sheltie. It has taken time for Toby to gain the strength and confidence to learn how to “dog”, and he is flourishing! Because of his background, he is searching for a special family, with adult human(s) that can gently challenge him to grow, a confident dog companion he can play with, and a home where Toby can feel safe. Toby had to be almost completely shaved. His coat is really starting to come back in, and we anticipate it will be a thick and beautiful sable and white . We call him our little “fox boy” because his tail is still fluffy while the rest of his coat was shaved. When we first started fostering Toby, he was very skittish and timid. In the last few months, he has grown so much! Toby is solidly potty trained, he is learning to walk on a leash and be comfortable in car rides. He really loves belly rubs, and has the cutest excited dance that is all paws with a happy bark! When he goes outside, all of Toby’s energy explodes and he really wants to play with his foster siblings! He barks, he “punches” the air, he runs around and will play bow! T oby has the potential to be a very sweet companion dog for a family, and he is young enough that with the right support we believe he will live a very fulfilling and active life. His large brown eyes melt our hearts, and those moments he lets down the barrier and leans in for pets and love are so precious. More about Toby: He watches everything around him Toby must have dog companionship In a new home, he will need to find a “safe spot” that he has easy access to (he uses the corner of his foster-mom’s office at our home ) Toby is only fed in his “safe spot”, separated from other dogs until he finishes eating He wants to learn new things, and loves cheese We do not know how he will react to cats and children Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 28, 2024, 10:31 pm
