Story
Midas is an 11-year 78-pound black Chinese Shar Pei Pit mix older gentleman, a hunk of burning love. We are diligently working to get a few pounds off him. He is a unique and special senior. He loves him some carrots and will sit in order to get them, so dang cute. Wonderful eye site and does not need a dental. Totally house trained but his 2-legged people work from home so he is not actually left alone for long periods of time, but he has been left for 4 to 6 hours and done just fine. He absolutely does not want to be left outside, he will sit outside the door and whine or do a very loud yelp if left out too long. Midas loves his 2-legged people and showers them with kisses and lots and lots of licks, no need for a shower after he gets through grooming you, just kidding, but kind of not. He gets so excited with his people he does a little nip when greeting you at times, but he truly does not mean to hurt you, which he doesn't, just have to be ware of his little love nip and definitely cannot go to a home with small children. Lumps, bumps, lots of leg calluses, might not be able to hear, definite arthritis in his legs, possible hip issues and very bowed legs. Due to his arthritis and hips a dog door with a ramp would be most advantageous, definitely cannot do lots of steps or stairs, a couple steps maximum. He is currently on a thyroid pill and will have his blood retested in a few weeks to see if it helped him loose a few pounds, or will need to be on this medication indefinitely. However, thyroid meds are the utmost cheapest medication a dog can be on, whew. Midas would do well with another calm companion like himself or be the only 4-legged canine in the home. This fine specimen of a old chap should never have ended up in a shelter at this time of his life, but he is now in the CAWS family and will be safe until his furever truly ever after home is found. He will utterly be the most loyal and trust friend anyone could ever, ever want! If you can provide a safe and secure home for our mighty man, please make arrangements for a meet and greet.Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. His adoption fee is $100.
