Meet Lexus. She came in to the shelter after being hit by a car and her owners never came to get her. She is shy but once she trusts you she is a love. Unfortunately, we think as a result of being hit by the car her tail was damaged. Originally it was thought she would need her tail amputated but the body is truly amazing. Lexus is slowly regaining movement in her tail!! She will be given more time to heal, the potential adopter should be aware that in the future it may be an issue, but we think her body deserves a chance. Meet Allie! Our vet estimates her to be 8yrs old and she has been spayed. Allie weighs about 50lbs. We wanted the vet to check her right eye since it presents somewhat smaller than the left eye. The vet agreed that it was most likely trauma from goodness knows how long ago. Upon testing, she does have limited sight in that eye but nothing that really effects her. She has gone through and recovered from much needed FHO surgery since she had some old trauma to her right rear leg as well as treatment for Lyme. She absolutely adores attention from people so we think she didn't have much in her past :( She walks fine on a leash and is housetrained. Occasionally you'll see her with a toy but it's not a standard thing for her. The foster she is with is certain that right now, she is the most grateful dog in the house - her sighs of contentment while getting a belly rub for no reason says it all. While she currently lives with other dogs in fostercare, it took us months for her to accept and trust them. But with slow & steady crate rotations, introductions & limited interactions, she has become part of the pack. She should not be in a home with cats though is our gut feeling. Hunter came to us needing some extra care - he wasn’t neutered and suffers from entropion, a painful eyelid condition. Bella is an adorable petite bunny-eared girl weighing just 42 pounds who is a sweet, wiggly, and shy lady, Bella doesn’t ask for much; she loves the simple things like hanging out with her family and going on walks. Bella has a reserved yet affectionate demeanor. Adopted in 2022 after being turned in to ACCTPhilly as a stray, Bella spent several happy years with her owner until they surrendered her back to the ACCT Philly in February 2026. When her second stay there became too long and with dozens of dogs entering the shelter daily, Bella was Timestamped. Fortunately, we were able fo pull her and she is now blossoming in her foster home! Bella does have a noted history of resource guarding dating back to her original shelter stay, but with proper management and separation for meals and fun chews, she has shown she is completely capable of living with another dog and she has a history of being okay with cats. With her behavioral needs in mind, Bella requires a loving household that is equipped to manage her resource guarding, and ensure that any food or high-value items are given under supervision and while Bella is separated from any other resident pets. With additional training and proper management of her known behavioral needs, Bella is sure to bring light, love, and joy to her new family.
