Story
Meet Eggy, a nervous 2-year-old male pup with a heart full of potential. Found tied to a pole in a state park with a bag of supplies, Eggy has had a rough start but is slowly learning to trust again. Though he’s still nervous around strangers, his courage is growing every day. With patience and love, Eggy is gradually warming up and showing his sweet side. If you’re ready to delve into a rewarding journey of helping a shy dog find his confidence, Eggy is waiting to be your loyal companion. Due to his fear we are recommending an adult only home.If you are interested in learning more contact our placement team at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter:E: Adoption@hempsteadny.govE: Foster@hempsteadny.govE: Rescue@hempsteadny.govT. 516.785.5220#Adoptme #Adoption #adoptionistheoption #adoptable #cutepup #longislanddogparents #ifitaintpit #mixedbreed #petitepup #rescued #rescuedog #rescuedogsofinstagram #instadog #dogstagram #dogs #doggo #shelterdogs #shelterpups #takemehometoday #dogoftheday #dogsofnewyork #nycdogs #longislanddogs

Story
Kimchi is a 3-year-old Shar-Pei that was found as a stray. She is currently looking for a calm, patient home. She`s a little shy and still adjusting to her environment, so she may take some time to warm up. Kimchi is cautious with new people and prefers slow introductions, but once she trusts you, she`s a loving companion. She knows `sit` and is good on lead. Kimchi isn`t currently interested in toys and isn`t playful yet, as she’s still finding her confidence. She would do best with an experienced owner who can help her feel safe and secure. Coco Foster/Home Needed –Long Island, NY Meet Coco. This gorgeous girl is a Shar Pei mix, about 8yrs old and weighs roughly 50lbs. Coco likes people and everyone she meets falls in love with her. The staff at her current shelter adore her and say she is easy to manage. She is fine with other dogs in most situations, but she gets a little nervous if they invade her personal space. She is attracted to puppies and calm dogs, but is not a fan of felines. She is interested in kids but children over 13yrs would be best. Unlike many dogs, storms and fireworks do not bother Coco. She’s not necessarily a lap dog but she loves to be with her people. She likes car rides and naps, she loves to be brushed and she’s good in the bath. Coco loves water and is a good swimmer. She grows weary of the shelter life but absolutely shines outside of there. She’s very agile and smart. Coco is house trained, crate trained and good on a leash. She is spayed and UTD on all. If you have the heart, home and time for this sweet girl, please contact adoptions@paws-li.org or go to our FB page or call the number listed below. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Odin, an approximately 9-10-year-old Black Lab-Shar Pei mix with a slender 55 lb build and a soft, medium-length black coat. Odin’s heartwarming loyalty and gentle spirit make him an exceptional companion, and he is now looking for a calm, loving home as his owner is moving out of state and sadly cannot bring him along. Odin was adopted from LCAR eight years ago, and during this time, he’s grown to be an incredibly well-trained and reliable friend. Fully housebroken, non-destructive, and crate-trained (though he doesn’t need it), Odin is trustworthy to roam freely at home. He’s happiest when he’s around his people, whether snoozing next to them in bed or resting in his own bed close by. He can get a bit anxious during car rides, but he settles down once he’s inside, and he’s typically easygoing. Odin is particularly endearing due to his deep attachment to his people. His loyalty is unmatched—he’ll even refuse to go for a walk with anyone if his owner is asleep in the house until given permission. This tender-hearted boy loves his routines and friends, even recognizing his owner’s friends by name. His favorite cuddle time is in the mornings, making for a perfect start to the day. Having had a challenging experience with a dog attack in the past, Odin can be a bit nervous around other dogs but tends to get along well with calm, older dogs. Although he hasn’t lived with cats, he doesn’t show much interest in them when encountered on walks. Odin is also sensitive to loud noises like fireworks and thunder and feels comforted when he’s held close during scary moments. His intelligence is remarkable—he knows an impressive range of words and tones and follows commands exceptionally well. He isn’t food-motivated but has specific treats he enjoys. Odin would thrive in a home with gentle, understanding people who can offer him a steady, comforting environment and lots of love. He is one of those rare dogs whose intelligence and loyalty leave an impression on everyone he meets, and he deserves a peaceful, caring forever home where he can continue to flourish.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 7, 2024, 2:50 pm

Story
Mia is a beautiful 12-months old, 45 lbs, girl who deserves to be in a loving home. She’s been surrendered with her mom by their owner who no longer could care for them so our rescue offered a foster home for Mia. She is safe now and ready to be scooped by her own people! Mia’s adapted to New York City incredibly fast as she is very smart dog! She is confident, obedient and curios about the world around her. She is being fostered with two other dogs and a cat with whom she bonded well. She even wants to play with a cat who is a boss of the household. She let her furry roommate dogs take her chewing stick so she learned sharing skills. As young pup she is full of energy, playful and athletic. She loves going for walks and running and playing with other dogs in doggy park. Someone with an active lifestyle who would take Mia for walks and hikes would be best for her! Mandatory dog training is required to adopt Mia as she is still a young pup and needs to learn good manners. She is house-broken and crate trained but she prefers to be near her foster mom either on a couch or a floor. This stunning girl is very loving, loyal and will get attached to her human. She has so much to offer! If you think that you might be the one for Mia, please contact us at sosanimalwelfare@gmail.com, or fill out an adoption application.

Story
STATEN ISLAND, NY: Handsome, good-boy Koda is on a mission to find his forever home, where he can shower his family with affection and snuggle up for pets! Charming Koda is 3 years young and weighs 70 lbs. He was known as Newark in the shelter, but has been lovingly dubbed Koda with his foster. He is affectionate and loves being touched, pet, rubbed, scratched – and is always ready to snuggle! Sadly, he was found as a stray wandering alone on Staten Island before arriving at the city shelter. AmsterDog was able to pull him to safety thanks to his foster, who fell in love with his gorgeous smile and deep, beautiful eyes (he has that effect on people!). Koda has been such a good boy while decompressing, and wow, is he thankful for some cozy blankets and a bed. He has been through a lot so decompression and slow, proper introductions are crucial for this boy’s success. Koda was dog-tested at the shelter and he did well, even going for a walk alongside another dog just fine. He was also around a cat briefly with his original finder and was non-reactive. Koda has been going on lots of adventures with his foster - check out our social media for some videos of Koda, his progress, and even catching some waves at the beach! Koda is food-motivated and easily directed; food is his language, so he will do anything for a treat: he has even already picked up how to sit on command! Koda is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped and ready to be your best furiend! Koda is an amazing, resilient dog with a regalness about him. Can he wag his tail in your castle? If you can open your heart and home to Koda, please contact AmsterDog at 917-689-8414 or by e-mail at info@amsterdog.org. Apply to adopt or foster-to-adopt Koda at AmsterDog.org. Thanks for caring about a pet in need!
