Sabre is a shar-pei mix who we think is the missing sibling of Jody and Buffy. Jody and Buffy were found on the highway after one of their siblings was hit by a truck. Sabre, and the mother, weren’t found with them. But after a few months we got a call from the shelter and they had found a pregnant pup who looked to be Jody and Buffy’s sibling. She didn’t have much time left in the shelter before she was scheduled for euthanization so we didn’t think twice about pulling her out immediately. Just two days after she arrived at our Texas foster’s house, she gave birth to nine beautiful puppies - 2 of which are still looking for their forever homes - Vodka and Whiskey who are also posted for adoption. Sabre was an incredible young mother, but now it's time for her to start enjoying life for herself. Sabre is estimated to be just about a year old. She is fully vaccinated and will be spayed before going home. She is a very loving girl, and very friendly with all the animals and the humans that she mets. She walks well on a leash. She seems to be house-trained. Her foster says she is a great dog!! Sabre is currently in Texas but will be transported to NJ when adopted. Whiskey is all puppy! But he’s also a very smart boy! According to his foster mom, “Whiskey does not stop amazing me with how incredibly smart he is and with how much he just likes to please humans! I have no doubt that he would make an amazing therapy or even service dog in the right hands.” He’s got a beautiful, shiny black coat, and his little tail is constantly wagging! He’s as friendly as can be and likes to kiss your nose. Unfortunately, taking good pictures of his wiggly 41-pound ball of happiness is hard. But you know what's not hard? Walking him. Whiskey walks with slack in his leash - just like a good boy! Whiskey was born on April 26, 2024, just 2 days after we pulled his very pregnant momma from being killed in the shelter. She gave birth to nine beautiful puppies, so we made toast and named them accordingly! Now in NJ, his foster mom says: “Whiskey is a very loving boy! Initially, he was a little shy, but having other dogs show him the ropes built his confidence and character. He is VERY loving and a Velcro dog. He is very smart, and though he loves treats, he loves pets even more. He’s really pleasant to train because he wants to please the human, treats or not. He watches TV and loves comfy couches and beds, but his favorite thing is being outside in the yard. (He could be out there all day if you let him) He does have some separation anxiety. He does not like to be in the crate and does not enjoy not seeing a human at all times. But with time and positive reinforcement, he’s been improving in the playpen - still working on it. I try to get pictures of him, but when I go down to his level, he "attacks" me with puppy kisses, and he can’t contain his loving self. 🥰🥰🥰” Whiskey is vaccinated and microchipped. He’s too young to be neutered just yet. He’s a 7 month old, 42 pound, Shar Pei mix. He’s been described as a social butterfly who is “king of the dog park.” He adores running and does great on jogs - so he’d make a perfect running partner. He is current on vaccines but has not yet been neutered. He’d do best in a home with older kids and younger, similar sized, dogs (if you already have resident pups) due to his energy-level. He’s an owner surrender through no fault of his own. It’s because of a change in the family environment and financial situation so they can no longer provide him a healthy and safe environment to grow up in. Ernie is a 5-year- old purebred English Bulldog who is playful and energetic and loves his people, his toys, and daily walks. After his walks, he likes to lounge. He is very friendly with every person we’ve encountered - greeting them with a slobbery smile. He’s a bit of a celebrity on the rail trail near our home, even having just been here a few months.Unfortunately, his owner (our uncle) passed away very suddenly in June. We took him in, hoping he would be able to settle in with our family, however we have a cat and a 2-year old, and Ernie has had a hard time adjusting to being with them in our house.Ernie is microchipped, up to date on all his vaccines and preventatives, is neutered, is in good health, and has recent negative fecal and heartworm tests.
