Story
Meet Bao!
Bao is a six-month-old, 22-pound Shar Pei puppy with a big personality and an even bigger heart! He loves playing with his foster siblings—dogs of all sizes—and even gets along great with the resident kitten.
This happy, affectionate pup is as well-behaved as he is playful. Bao’s favorite things include rubber bones, squeaky toys, and zooming around the yard—especially when he gets the chance to run laps by the pool!
Bao is already house-trained and crate-trained, with no accidents in his foster home. He may “chat” for a minute or two when first settling into his crate, but he quickly relaxes. In the mornings, he’ll politely let you know when he needs to go out.
He’s still getting the hang of leash walking and may freeze for a moment when the leash goes on, but once he’s outside, his excitement takes over. Bao is also a little unsure about stairs right now, but with time and practice, he’s sure to gain confidence.
If you’re looking for a playful, loving pup who’s already off to a great start, Bao might just be your perfect match!
Bao is currently being fostered in Staten Island, NY and his adoption fee is $800.
Bao is a Patron Pup. Patron Pups have higher adoption fees due to varying reasons and are adopted quickly, even with these higher adoption fees. They may be purebred, a highly desirable breed, small in size fully grown, etc. These fees allow them to act as patrons to other pets in our care who may not be as adoptable, or have ongoing costs for medical care, contributing to a longer time in rescue, and therefore a higher cost for us to care for them. Patron Pups allow us to continue rescuing these other animals and give them a better chance at finding their forever homes as well.
To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt
All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals.
For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible.
We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.
