Meet Dot - she can sure make a point! Dot is a sharpei mix that is full grown and currently weighs 31 pounds. We believe she is 1 to 2 years old and is amazingly sweet with humans!! Dot is great with other dogs in causal settings (like on a walk) but does have resource guarding issues with food and toys with other dogs. Given her resource guarding issues with other dogs we believe Dot should be in an home as an only dog or someone with experience/trained in resource guarding behavior. If there are multiple dogs that you are interested in, please fill out an application for each dog. This does not include bonded pairs, one application will be fine. We have different adoption coordinators working with different dogs, and your application may be missed if you only apply once. We put a lot of time and energy into processing our adoptions to find our babies the best fit home for them and you. Please do not submit an application if you are not serious about adopting. We are so excited to work with you to find you a new forever friend, and the perfect forever home for our dogs. We appreciate you working with us. Our adoption fee is $525. This includes their spay/neuter surgery, full (age appropriate) vaccinations, microchip insertion and registration, deworming, heartworm testing and prevention, flea and tick prevention and travel expenses. All of our dogs are rescued from local shelters and the general public. Each dog is then placed in a foster home where he/she is kept for quarantine, to ensure if the dog gets sick it can receive proper treatment. We have foster homes in the NJ/NY area waiting to receive their fosters. Once an animal has received an application or there's an adopter interested, we make arrangements for transport. If a dog is already in foster care in NYC/NJ, an adopter will be put in touch with the foster home AFTER an application is being processed. Story

Sabre is a shar-pei mix who we think is the missing sibling of Jody and Buffy. Jody and Buffy were found on the highway after one of their siblings was hit by a truck. Sabre, and the mother, weren’t found with them. But after a few months we got a call from the shelter and they had found a pregnant pup who looked to be Jody and Buffy’s sibling. She didn’t have much time left in the shelter before she was scheduled for euthanization so we didn’t think twice about pulling her out immediately. Just two days after she arrived at our Texas foster’s house, she gave birth to nine beautiful puppies - 2 of which are still looking for their forever homes - Vodka and Whiskey who are also posted for adoption. Sabre was an incredible young mother, but now it's time for her to start enjoying life for herself. Sabre is estimated to be just about a year old. She is fully vaccinated and will be spayed before going home. She is a very loving girl, and very friendly with all the animals and the humans that she mets. She walks well on a leash. She seems to be house-trained. Her foster says she is a great dog!! Sabre is currently in Texas but will be transported to NJ when adopted. Whiskey is all puppy! He’s got a beautiful, shiny black coat, and his little tail is constantly wagging! He’s as friendly as can be and likes to kiss your nose. Unfortunately, taking good pictures of his wiggly 41-pound ball of happiness is hard. Whiskey was born on April 26, 2024, just 2 days after we pulled his very pregnant momma from being killed in the shelter. She gave birth to nine beautiful puppies, so we made toast and named them accordingly! Now in NJ, his foster mom says: “Whiskey is a very loving boy! Initially, he was a little shy, but having other dogs show him the ropes built his confidence and character. He is VERY loving and a Velcro dog. He is very smart, and though he loves treats, he loves pets even more. He’s really pleasant to train because he wants to please the human, treats or not. He watches TV and loves comfy couches and beds, but his favorite thing is being outside in the yard. (He could be out there all day if you let him) He does have some separation anxiety. He does not like to be in the crate and does not enjoy not seeing a human at all times. But with time and positive reinforcement, he’s been improving in the playpen - still working on it. I try to get pictures of him, but when I go down to his level, he "attacks" me with puppy kisses, and he can’t contain his loving self. 🥰🥰🥰” Whiskey is vaccinated and microchipped. STATEN ISLAND, NY: Handsome, good-boy Koda is on a mission to find his forever home, where he can shower his family with affection and snuggle up for pets! Charming Koda is 3 years young and weighs 70 lbs. He was known as Newark in the shelter, but has been lovingly dubbed Koda with his foster. He is affectionate and loves being touched, pet, rubbed, scratched – and is always ready to snuggle! Sadly, he was found as a stray wandering alone on Staten Island before arriving at the city shelter. AmsterDog was able to pull him to safety thanks to his foster, who fell in love with his gorgeous smile and deep, beautiful eyes (he has that effect on people!). Koda has been such a good boy while decompressing, and wow, is he thankful for some cozy blankets and a bed. He has been through a lot so decompression and slow, proper introductions are crucial for this boy’s success. Koda was dog-tested at the shelter and he did well, even going for a walk alongside another dog just fine. He was also around a cat briefly with his original finder and was non-reactive. Koda has been going on lots of adventures with his foster - check out our social media for some videos of Koda, his progress, and even catching some waves at the beach! Koda is food-motivated and easily directed; food is his language, so he will do anything for a treat: he has even already picked up how to sit on command! Mia is a beautiful 12-months old, 45 lbs, girl who deserves to be in a loving home. She’s been surrendered with her mom by their owner who no longer could care for them so our rescue offered a foster home for Mia. She is safe now and ready to be scooped by her own people! Mia’s adapted to New York City incredibly fast as she is very smart dog! She is confident, obedient and curios about the world around her. She is being fostered with two other dogs and a cat with whom she bonded well. She even wants to play with a cat who is a boss of the household. She let her furry roommate dogs take her chewing stick so she learned sharing skills. As young pup she is full of energy, playful and athletic. She loves going for walks and running and playing with other dogs in doggy park. Someone with an active lifestyle who would take Mia for walks and hikes would be best for her! Mandatory dog training is required to adopt Mia as she is still a young pup and needs to learn good manners. She is house-broken and crate trained but she prefers to be near her foster mom either on a couch or a floor. This stunning girl is very loving, loyal and will get attached to her human.
