Story
SHYLAestimated 2 years old, female lab/pit mix, good with dogs, selective with cats, recommended for older children 15 or above, because of activity level. crate trained.Shyla, like her name is a little shy at first meetings but warms up quickly. She is very energetic and will need someone to work on her manners and be consistent with her training. She loves to play with other dogs but will need one that is tolerant of her rough play and non stop fun. She loves to hang with her person and Is learning to play with toys, can be a mouthy player as she is still in puppy stage. She will need a special person to put up with her antics and someone who has experience with dogs, not good for a persons first dog. If you're looking for a friend to spoil, here she is.Please note we do not have a central kennel facility, all of our pets are located in foster homes. The first step in meeting one of our furry friends is to fill out an application on our website at www.rainbowrescues.org. A volunteer will be in contact with you in 1-2 business days to review your application and speak with you about the adoption process. **Please be aware that we are not responsible for inaccurate information on some cross-posted sites such as inaccurate adoption fees and inaccurate pet info.**November 3, 2024, 6:16 am

Story
PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.Alf is a Shar Pei who was dumped along with 3 others, by a breeder who decided they no longer them. A family friend found out where they dumped and alerted rescue so they could intervene. Thankfully they were all found and taken into rescue because the residents in the area were threatening to shoot them. Alf is a very good boy. He's been through a lot but has adapted well. He is true to the breed- a little stand offish with new people at first, but not aggressive. Alf was neutered once rescued, and had to have major surgery to remove some of his excess skin on his face because the loose skin was covering his eyes, making it difficult to see. Imagine being dumped by your human and not even being able to see your surroundings. It must have been terrifying for him. He has recovered from his surgeries very well and is now ready to find a home of his own. Alf is about 2 yrs old, roughly 45lbs. This is what his foster mom says about him: 'Meet Alf, a 100% certified sweetheart. For the past two months, Alf has stayed with two old ladies (a chiweenie and a hound/shepherd mix) and has acclimated beautifully. When the chiweenie asserted her boundaries, he was responsive (in a good way!).He is a gentleman when the water is refilled and lets the ladies drink first. His foster mom is happy to say there have been no bathroom-related accidents in the house! He does well on Purina’s sensitive stomach and enjoys all sorts of treats, from freeze-dried liver to steamed broccoli (if broccoli can be considered a treat).Because he had to have two surgeries in September (neutering and a preventative surgery on his face that shar peis sometimes get), he’s very familiar with wearing the cone of shame. He’s handled it like a champ, besides running into a doorway or two.He might whine a bit about the crate, but he settles in and is good at being left for a few hours. And while he chooses to sleep in the crate almost every night, he would rather you leave the door open. ;)Although he can pull on the leash, he’s getting better daily. Overall, he’s a very enthusiastic walker who enjoys going outside, smelling the flowers, and eyeing squirrels intently. He loves car rides and will happily jump into any nearby car with an open door. His foster home was cat-free, so his relationship with cats is unknown, but he was maybe a bit too enthusiastic about seeing the chickens in their run area, so perhaps don’t leave him with your poultry friends. An area to note: This might sound obvious, but it’s essential that Alf’s boundaries are respected and that introductions are slow. He will emit a low growl when uncomfortable. Alf is such a good boy (his foster grandma says so, so it must be true!) and is very loyal to his people. Still, he doesn’t really care about strangers in the way some people are used to dogs behaving. And although he may be aloof (or even suspicious at times) of unfamiliar faces, he’s done great in every situation where he was slowly introduced to people and dogs.Likes: his close friends, treats, head rubs, smelling flowers, stuffies, and more head rubs.Dislikes: getting q-tips stuck in his ear and not having a furever home! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. One minute you have an owner that takes you everywhere in his truck and lets you and your brother sleep on the bed or next to his recliner. Then the unimaginable happens and your dad won’t wake up. You can’t call for help, you can only watch over your daddy until someone stops by. After three days strangers started banging on the door and finally brake in. These are people you have never seen before. In your fear you both start barking and trying to protect dad. The next minute you have a catchpole choking your neck and throwing you in a kennel. You are separated from your brother and thrown in a loud kennel with strangers. You sit in a corner shaking with fear until you finally see a face you recognize. But you are so scared you keep barking and growling until you realize they are here to save you and your brother. This is Chula’s story. When we got Chula and Booger to the rescue they were still in shock from losing their dad. For the first two months they would only let Pat near them, since they knew her in their old life. Finally they started responding and were able to come to the kennels were they could interact with the workers and start looking for a new family. Booger was able to find a home and is living a remarkable life. Chula wasn’t understanding how she went from pampered housedog to living in a kennel by herself. A decision was made to place her with Chance and see if they could make a connection. The transformation of both dogs was incredible. Chance became sociable and would allow us to leash him and take him for walks with Chula. Chula enjoyed getting out of the kennel and playing. They started spending the day in our exercise areas playing and running. They have become social to new people and are ready for the right home. Chula is an older dog. She only has a few more years if she is lucky. She has been a house dog and has never pooped in her room. Ideally, we would love for Chance and Chula to find a home together. Unfortunately. we know how rare that opportunity is. Are you that special someone who has love to give to an older dog? She can be cautious around new people, but given a few minutes Chula will start working her magic on you. Chula’s ideal home will be an older family without small children and no cats or small dogs. She enjoys playing with toys and Chance in the rescue’s exercise yard. She would love and needs to have a home with a fenced yard with perhaps a companion dog so they can play and explore the yard together. Chula is a beautiful Shar Pei/lab mix who weighs 61.2 pounds. She has a thyroid issue, so she has to have thyroid pills twice a day. Are you wanting a partner to watch TV with? Chula is ready! You can apply for Chula at www.adoggie4you.org and arrange a meet and greet. Chula’s adoption fee is $250. If you would consider adopting both Chula and Chance, the adoption fee would be $300. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 3, 2024, 12:09 pm

Story
Marlee is a fun name for a fun gal! I was living my life and having some fun, except no one got me "fixed" so the fun ended up with me being a single mother with 6 hungry mouths to feed!!! Who thinks that their fun will lead to months of feeding and my milk producers dragging on the ground :( I sure didn't... However, I LOVE MY BABIES!!! Now that they are on their own in foster homes, that is :) I am a fun gal, I love to play with my friends and I am great with other playful and fun dogs. I am a climber and a jumper so it may be why I was out playing in the first place.... but I digress... I am happy and sweet and I have the gorgeous soft, PLENTIFUL muzzle of a Shar Pei, with the energy of a lab or shepherd or who knows what other breed I am. I want a real family who will love me for all that I am, and I am A LOT!! Look me up and let's run off into the sunset :) ADOPT... DON'T SHOP!!! MY LIFE AND MY PUPPIES' LIVES' DEPEND ON IT!!! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area, $50 temporary fuel fee will be included)

This is Pete! Pete is a very chill dog who gets along well with everyone! A sturdy, black, medium-sized Chinese Shar-Pei mix Pete will be your steadfast companion. Pete has a sweet temperament and average energy level, with occasional zoomies but tires easily. Pete is still learning the ropes and is not yet crate trained but is house broken. He has not been fully exposed to other dogs and cats but seems to tolerate both fine and has never had any issue. Pete just wants to relax and be near people and that's it! He's a simple dog looking for a simple life. Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)
