He’s an active pup who needs a lot of room and a lot of attention/stimulation. Sadly we are moving and downsizing and I don’t believe it would be fair for him to not have the room he needs to run around.

Story
🌟 Meet Buddy – Our Gentle Giant in Need of a Home 🌟 Buddy is a sweet, laid-back, 7-year-old, 70-pound bear coat Chinese Shar Pei who’s been part of our family since he was a puppy. Sadly, his dad recently passed away, and this "big ham" is now in need of a loving home. Buddy’s favorite activities include sleeping in, loafing around the house, and being close to the people he trusts. He’s quiet, protective, and housebroken, but he’s also heartbroken right now and needs someone to spoil him like his dad and uncle used to. He does have minor health needs: 💊 Skin allergies are managed with Apoquel medication. 👂 Ear care is important due to his breed. Buddy has never lived with other animals, but he’s been curious (and a bit indifferent) when he’s seen dogs and cats, so he may adjust with proper introductions. If you’re looking for a loyal, low-maintenance companion who loves to loaf and be adored, Buddy might be the perfect fit for your family! 🐾

Story
Are you looking at my ears? WHAT MY FOSTER SAYS ABOUT ME: Hello! My name is Shiva, and I'm happy to be here and tell you a bit about me. I was brought into another welfare organization in Washington, DC, in July 2023 by nice animal control officers after I was found wandering the streets. I was underweight and had a skin condition, but the vets there nursed me back to health. I'm now a healthy 45 pounds, very energetic, and getting used to trusting humans again. I have been in foster and have grown a lot in my time out of the shelter. I am still quite shy at first, but after getting to know people, I really open up and show my very loving, playful and goofy personality. While I am an adult lady, I have a lot of energy, am silly and playful at times, and LOVE the outdoors. I light up on walks, especially in the park, and love running around and being playful with my foster mom. If you have a nice yard that I can run and play in, I would love that! I also love nice long walks where you can be patient with me as I sniff (a lot). Because of my past, I am scared by sudden, loud noises, so I would really prefer a quiet home, perhaps outside the city so there are fewer sirens and other loud noises. I may be ok with other dogs, but my foster mom thinks I might prefer to be queen of my own castle. I currently live with two adult male cats. My energy and playfulness is not always well-received by them, but I don't show any aggression towards them, just playfulness. A home with cats may work for me, but my new family would have to be willing to go slow with introductions. I am a true love, who is looking for a soft place to land after a rough go of it. Once you earn my trust, I will be very loving and loyal. I'd love to be with a forever family that loves me for all I am and treats me like a princess. ATTRIBUTES: Shiva has lived in foster with cats and done well. -------------- Laila's Legacy Animal Rescue does not guarantee that any dog is housebroken nor crate trained. Story
Ms. Ruby Red is an absolute charming girl that has had a hard start at life. She has a birth defect called enophthalmos, which basically means her eyes are too far set back into her skull, this caused her to also suffer from severe cherry eyes and entropion in both eyes making it very difficult for her to see and in constant pain. Along with these issue she had also been hit by a car as a young puppy, probably because she couldn't see! Thanks to a concerned citizen we were made aware of Ruby's situation and were able to give her the much-needed care that she needed. Now after months in foster care and multiple surgeries this awesome pup is ready for her forever home with only has a small scar on her left thigh, see perfectly fine and no longer in pain. She is available via ground transportation. Located in Texas

DISCLOSURE: The adoptable pets in our program are still in the care and custody of owners who wish to re-home their pet. Owners have enlisted Rescue Well to provide marketing and screening of applicants as a service, free of charge. All fees and adoption conditions are determined by the owner. We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.  ***** Mira is 5-7yo, weighs 45lbs, is spayed, is up to date on her vaccines, and is microchipped.  Mira can sit and stay and guardian was working on crate training until guardian's disability occurred.  Mira roams around the house close to her guardians and is left alone at home up to 4 hours per day.  At night, Mira sleeps downstairs on the couch or one of the bedrooms.  She dislikes/fears strangers coming to the house, especially women.  Also, Mira loves car rides. Mira's guardian explains why she has made the difficult decision to rehome her:  Mira's guardian is no longer able to care for her needs. Lunge/Attack Incident:  In April 2024, in Pueblo, CO, Mira lunged at the veterinarian; there was no physical contact; animal control was not involved.  Mira's guardian explains:   "No medical attention was required.  Mira can be protective of the house, and the vet was a little too quick to get in her space when she was agitated.  She lunged at the vet, but did not hurt her or anyone else." Mira's guardian offers a brief a medical history: "Entropion of the eye, corrected by surgery but might come back.  Spayed.  Vet suspects past injury to her hips as they seem stiff, but no other sign of injury." Mira's guardian states the following regarding children:  Since Mira hasn't lived with children, her guardian doesn't recommend her living with children.  Regarding how Mira responds to children outside the home, the guardian states "She treats them the same way she treats other people; curious and usually affectionate". Mira's guardian states the following regarding dogs:  Since Mira has lived with dogs, her guardian recommends her living with dogs, stating "She tends to get along with dogs very well". Mira's guardian states the following regarding cats:  Since Mira hasn't lived with cats, her guardian doesn't recommend her living with cats, stating "She has shown a great interest in stray cats, but not an aggressive one.  We are unsure how she would act around a cat". Mira's guardian describes her as: Couch potato Friendly Likes to be touched Affectionate Protective Always at your side House-Trained Likes men; also likes women if properly introduced* Separation anxiety (undiagnosed by vet)** * " Mira is more likely to get protective around women, but if introduced properly she's totally fine with just about everyone.  We've found the best solution to be to walk out with Mira and meet a guest in the parking lot before coming inside.  There have been a few instances where she has still gotten protective around women, but more often than not she's totally fine.  If we do this with men she's always been okay with it.  We suspect she was abused by a woman at some point." ** "The separation anxiety has not been formally diagnosed.  She didn't used to behave like this, but after we moved she got very anxious about not being near us.  This usually takes the form of whining and scratching at doors if we are in another room. It should be something that can be trained out of her, but I don't have the ability to do so with my current situation." Mira's guardian describes her ideal future home: "A house with a fenced in yard would be ideal.  She loves to be outside and sun herself but she also tends to bolt if she doesn't have a fence.  A family that has some experience training dogs would be ideal, as they can help her be less anxious about people visiting or separation."
