Some of our most heartfelt moments here at Satchel's is watching our animals come out of their shells to reveal their wonderful and different personalities. One of our most notable pups would be Miss Sicily. When she first arrived, Sicily kept her guard up, she was nervous and untrusting. She would let a select few staff members engage with her, but did not show affection and was more relieved when the interaction was over. Fast forward a few weeks, and we could see a small spark starting to show through, she was more willing to take treats from us and was more curious about going outside. She then found a lovely Woof Pack leader, Peg, who was willing to work with her on socializing and getting her to open up more. Soon she started jumping up on us when we went to clean her kennel, started giving us kisses and loved being rubbed all over. She started showing her silly side, playing with toys and goofing around. She was still nervous outside the kennel, and she still has moments when she is unsure about the environment, but her confidence has significantly grown since the day she first arrived. Sicily can still be a bit weary of men and tends to gravitate towards females, but we are so proud of the steps she has conquered and continues to, even today. She has shown us that the shyest of pups have a love for play and affection and sometimes it just takes patience and understanding to let their light shine through. Today, Sicily loves to go out with Peg in our back yard and run around, getting all her zoomies out and acting like a goofball. She loves to give hugs and kisses, getting belly rubs when she rolls over and just generally loves attention. Otis is a designer breed that they like to call a Hippo. He is a young Shar Pei and Cocker Spaniel mix, weighing 30-35 lbs, and boy is he cute! He knows it too. He is an energetic boy who occasionally gets the zoomies and loves to be chased around. Otis will occasionally engage in a game of ball. He is a brilliant boy who is very well-mannered. He knows all of his basic commands. He is also fantastic on the leash. He loves to go for car rides and long walks. He likes most new people but prefers that you give him his space when first meeting him. He can be protective of those he loves in a home environment. He believes that it is his job. He did live with children in his prior home but would prefer older children that would respect his space. Hi! My name is Willow! I may look like salt and pepper, but i'm a total sugar rush! I'm looking for a home with someone who is an expert snuggler, and a play buddy in a hooman, tiny hooman, dog, cat, or all four! I love everyone I've met so far, although I'm a little shy at first. If you are someone who likes to shower your pup with Treats and Toys, I want in! Toys are so much fun that I'm happy playing by myself, but I share super well with everypawdy. I'd really like a dog brother or sister to play with and show me the ropes (literally!) I'm a smart and observant and I'm doing a pawsome job learning sign language. I even have a special sign for my own name! They say I'm a really user friendly pup, but don't just take my bark for it, let's meet pup...err....up!

Juice is a 3 year old mixed breed. He loves warm hugs and cuddles and he loves to sunbath outside in the grass. I adopted him from the Humane society of Sarasota and my situation has turned into an emergency situation and I need to rehome him. I can no longer afford him and I need to moved due to my personal situation. He's a really good boy, he loves his crate and he's very obedient. I did not have many issues being with him.

Allman is the definition of a Boxer, from his looks to his personality traits! This 7-year-old boy is always looking for opportunity to play, and loves making everything a game. He is a great ball player and may not always bring it back, but his enthusiasm keeps the game going. He enjoys carrying toys around wherever he goes, squeaky toys are super fun, but Kong toys are also wonderful. He also has a prankster side with shoes and likes to untie your laces when you are walking. He is loyal to his friends here at Satchel's but can be a bit picky. He takes a little time to get to know people and, although he is high energy, he prefers a calm first-time meeting. Allman has a Woof Pack leader here at Satchel's and they are working on his acceptance of new people. Once accepted, Allman is a loving, playful, intelligent boy who can't wait to be with you. He walks very well on a leash and loves going on adventures. He knows his basic commands and with treats, he can do them with a swiftness. Allman would be the perfect canine companion for someone who loves being active or has a love for and understanding of the Boxer breed. He would do well with a fenced in yard, or multiple walks to get some of the energy down. This happy girl lives up to her name, a sassy personality indeed. Sassafras is an adult beauty, with a brilliant smile that brightens anyone's day. She is the life of the party and loves to be the center of attention. She can not wait to go outside and either go in the yards and sniff everything possible, or go on a brisk walk, leading the way. Sassy is protective of her space and loyal to her friends but will welcome new people into her circle with a slow introduction. She doesn't seem to mind the company of some canines, but we have found her to be selective and she would prefer to have the people all to herself. She adores toys and goes for the stuffed squeaky toys every time. She will chase balls to the point of exhaustion but her favorite past time is water play. When given the opportunity, she loves splashing in a wading pool, chasing the spray of a hose and swimming in the bay. She is very treat motivated, which is helpful in her learning of basic obedience. Curling up in a comfy bed or cuddled up with a friend is the best way to end her day.
