DOB: August 2018Weight: 27 lbsDisposition: Confident, Inquisitive, PlayfulEthel was rescued on 5th August 2020 during a slaughterhouse closure together with another 14 dogs conducted by FOUR PAWS in Kampong Thom, Cambodia. After rescue she was housed at Animal Rescue Cambodia in Phnom Penh until she flew stateside at the beginning of December 2020 when she joined us at The Barking Lot.Ethel has the cutest little ears there ever was and their a dead giveaway for her Shar Pei roots! This lovely girl used to be timid around other dogs, especially at dinner time. Like many of our rescues who have been through traumatic experiences, she gets defensive about her food. The rest of the time, Ethel can be coy, but she is learning to trust again and is really relaxed with her caretakers. Ethel has a lovely, inquisitive nature and is building trust with new people daily. She enjoys handling and cuddles from people she trusts and is treat motivated. Story
Meet Donette: Your Wrinkly Walking Companion! Looking for a leash-walking superstar with adorable rolls for days? Say hello to Donette, a charming shar-pei who's ready to trot into your heart! This spayed, microchipped, and fully vaccinated lady has mastered the art of the neighborhood stroll—though fair warning, she's got some serious prey drive when it comes to cats on the run! What Makes Donette Special: • __Perfect Leash Manners__ (after the initial excitement wears off!) • __Crate Trained Pro__ – sleeps like a dream and eats her meals politely in her den • __Gentle Treat Taker__ with zero food aggression • __Easy-Going for Grooming__ – ears, paws, tail? No problem! • __Dog-Friendly__ (with proper introductions) and currently living harmoniously with other pups. She much prefers the calmer dogs in the home and avoids the rambunctious puppish dogs (so annoying!) Donette's Dream Home: This sweet girl thrives in a calm, adult-only household where she can decompress and build confidence at her own pace. She's still learning that toys are fun and would love a patient family who understands that unpredictable movements and loud noises make her nervous (hence no small kids). Give her space around her head, and she'll reward you with loyalty and companionship! __Ideal Match:__ Adults or older kids only, no small children, cat-free home, patient dog lovers who appreciate a work-in-progress with tons of potential! She is probably a one person dog. Ready to give Donette the peaceful, loving home she deserves? She's waiting to meet you! She is fostering in Southern California (San Bernadino county).December 27, 2025, 7:39 am

Story
Honey (she goes by Dolce, but we have another dog also with that name) came from a home with far too many dogs that overwhelmed the owner. Honey is 50 pounds, is recently spayed and is microchipped and up to date on vaccines. She is a typical female, who can get a little growly around strangers poking and prodding (not a fan of the vet but manageable), but has lived with other dogs and kids with no issues. Her coat has cleaned up nicely with good food and some short-term antibiotics. Honey is the princess, preferring inside to out (she is completely housetrained, but just doesn't want to hang out in the yard otherwise). She is quiet, not a big barker and likes to give kisses and hugs. Honey is fostering in the Indio, California area. If you are looking for a pair, Royce came from the same home.January 5, 2026, 1:28 pm

Story
Darlene was surrendered to the shelter when her owners could no longer care for her. She was living with 2 other dogs and is good with new dogs. Darlene lived with kids and is housetrained, affectionate and well-mannered. Darlene will bark at strangers and sounds the alarms for deliveries. She is 49 pounds, and we are working on cleaning up some skin issues (high quality food and fish oil, with an exam scheduled at vet). She is spayed, microchipped and is up to date on vaccines. She is fostering in southern Riverside County, Calif.January 14, 2026, 8:13 pm

Story
Meet Turbo – Your Future Best Friend! Turbo is an 8-month-old cream-colored Shar Pei mix with the softest coat and the sweetest soul. At around 50 pounds, this lovable pup is still just a baby at heart – playful, social, and full of goofy charm. He absolutely adores other dogs and kids, and he’ll thrive in a home with canine buddies to play and cuddle with. This is the dog that will love your kids as much as you do! He will be there to cuddle with them on their toughest day! He would love to be on the sideline cheering when they score their first goal or home run  of the season.   Turbo’s previous owner cared deeply about him and made the tough decision to surrender him so he could get the eye care he needs. He is neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, and more than ready to meet his forever family.   &#226&#156&#168 Special Needs, Special Pup: Turbo has a condition called Corneal Endothelial Dystrophy, which causes cloudiness in the eyes as certain cells slowly die off over time. While there’s no cure and his vision may gradually decline, his current vision is still good, and daily eye drops (about $20/month) can help slow the progression. The condition is not painful, and he’s a happy, active boy – just needs a little extra love and care!   Turbo is currently fostering in Riverside, CA, and he’s looking for a family who’ll see how amazing he is – eye drops and all. Could that be you?   Great with dogs Great with kids Neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped &#239&#184&#143 Needs daily eyedrops (non-painful condition)   Apply to meet Turbo – because this sweet, squishy boy is ready to run straight into your heart!  December 1, 2025, 3:01 pm

Story
Age: 2y Gender: Male Breed: Pocket Bully mix Weight: 40 Personality: He’s chill and a couch potato about 90% of the day. The other 10% he likes to run around the backyard and get his zoomies out and play with his dog friends. Boogie LOVES food and will eat anything and everything you give him, he’s a literal garbage disposal. He needs to be fed in a slow feeder so he doesn’t throw up his food from eating so fast because he likes to inhale his food. He should be fed separately away from any other dogs or else he WILL try to eat their food too. Friendliness: Dogs: Yes Cats: Yes Kids: Yes Education: Bathroom in training, crate trained, leash trained (but does pull slightly initially from excitement) Favorite Activities: FOOD! Walks around the block, car rides, cuddling and snuggling, giving kisses, belly scratches, ripping up empty boxes, KIDS! He loves kids almost as much as he loves food! Looking For: Boogie would do great in any type of household. He really loves his humans and especially kids and loves to be with his people as much as possible. He’s fully crate trained and has zero separation anxiety so he could definitely be ok with a working family too, as long as they promise to cuddle and spoil him when they’re home. Due to his breed, he can’t and shouldn’t go for super long and strenuous walks or hikes, but Boogie is always down for an adventure, he loves going places! He does great in the car and just loves being around people, especially if he gets belly rubs in the process. He’s great at bars and restaurants and loves the attention, so if you’re looking for a buddy you can take everywhere with you, Boogie is your boy! Special Needs: None If you’re looking for a lovable sidekick you can take just about anywhere, look no further – I’m your guy!  My adoption fee is $350 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip.  If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/.   ##2613955##

Story
Age: 1y4m Gender: Male Breed: Micro Bulldog mix Weight: 34 Personality: Super sweet and very low maintenance. He is so chill! It takes some time for him to warm up to new people, but once the trust is earned, he becomes very playful and affectionate. Friendliness: Dogs: No Cats: No Kids: No Education: Mostly Potty Trained, getting better by the day, and getting better at leash training Favorite Activities: He loves human attention, is very food motivated, and loves to play with his toys. He can play independently but loves a good game of tug-a-war with his people, too. Looking For: A loving and patient home who understands him and his breed requirements. He will need an adult-only home who are respectful of space, and help redirect him when needed. No cats please! Special Needs: Taking Prozac (~$5 for a month’s supply. Price depends on where purchased and market value) to help manage anxiety and fixation on objects while he continues his training. Story
Meet Selena Selena is a one-year-old female boxer–pug mix with a sweet, soulful face and a whole lot of love to give. She’s energetic and playful, can jump, and enjoys being active — but she’s also a total snuggler, who thrives on affection and closeness. Hugs are definitely her love language. Selena gets along well with other dogs and is used to being around them. She has been with the same family her entire life, so this transition is a big change for her, but she’s handling it with gentle curiosity and trust. She is up to date on all her shots and would do best in a home where she gets attention, companionship, and lots of cuddles. Selena is the kind of dog who bonds deeply and just wants to be someone’s constant little sidekick. If you’re looking for a loving, affectionate, people-oriented pup who will happily curl up next to you after playtime, Selena is your girl." *Selena will be spayed with her adoption. * Please copy & past the link below into your browser for our application: https://www.jotform.com/form/243374218477059 Questions?
