Meet Sadie, a lovable, playful Shar-Pei mix youngster! With boundless energy and an infectious enthusiasm for life, this one is always ready to fetch a ball, chase after toys, and run circles around the yard. Her big paws and fashionable brindled coat make her an adorable sight as she sprints with a wagging tail. While her heart is pure and her spirit is high, this energetic pup could benefit from some training to help her channel her excitement more effectively. She’s eager to please, but she’s still learning the ropes of obedience and manners. With a bit of patience and guidance, this fun-loving S-P will quickly become a loyal, well-behaved companion. Story
HI - I'M JULIE! I'm about 9 years young and a loving girl! I've been waiting for awhile for a home - not sure why nobody wants me, because I'm super cute. I only weigh about 52 lbs and am an affectionate snuggle bug. I prefer to be the only dog in the home and prefer people to dogs so would do best with a single person, a couple or a family with older kids. I'm not a fan of cats either, so no kitties for me please. I am in good athletic shape and still love to go for walks and hikes. And I love the water! I also love the fresh air and the feeling of the sunshine on my back. Could you give me a chance and foster or adopt me? Please email for an application.

Story
Meet Barbie – The Sweetest Senior Girl Looking for Her Retirement Home! Barbie is a 12-year-old, 31 lb Shar Pei mix who may be mostly blind and partially deaf, but her heart is overflowing with love and sweetness. She’s ready to spend her golden years in a calm, loving retirement home where she can relax and be spoiled. Here’s a little about her from her foster home: Barbie is a cuddly, rolly-polly little girl who adores affection and loves being around people. She's potty trained, skilled at using the dog door, and never has accidents indoors. If the door is closed, she politely asks to go outside! She gets along wonderfully with other dogs, gently sniffing them and giving them space, and even with bossy pups, she remains calm and collected. She’s not interested in her three cats, though, just calmly ignoring them! When guests arrive, she eagerly approaches with a sparkle in her eye, inviting gentle pets before settling down at their feet. Barbie loves her walks! She’s always excited to get outside, and it’s a joy to watch her run with her little legs as fast as they’ll go. At night, she sleeps soundly, never making a sound, and enjoys cozying up in her favorite bed after a little nest-building with the blankets. Barbie thrives on routines and enjoys her peaceful days. She has a good appetite, prefers smaller meals, and is very dainty while eating. She also takes her eye drops like a champ three times a day and loves all the extra attention! Although she’s never made a sound like a bark, she’s super easy-going and loves the simple things, like bath time (which she’s a pro at), enjoying her morning cookie, and just being by your side. Barbie does have some medical needs, including eye drops and a tumor, but nothing seems to faze her. She’s a loyal, affectionate companion who would thrive in a quiet home where she can just enjoy her well-deserved retirement. If you’re interested in giving Barbie a loving, forever home to live out her golden years, please reach out to us at beourpet@gmail.com. Barbie is ready to bring her unconditional love into your life. Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee. This dog will be at Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, January 25th from 12-3pm or until adopted. If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered.   Adoption Fee: $850   Brisket is a 1 year old English Bulldog who is ready to serve up a delicious bounty in her forever home! Brisket was rescued from the shelter in desperate need of cherry eye removal surgery and some other TLC. Even with a stretched-thin budget, we knew we couldn’t leave her to languish in pain, so we scooped her up and brought her to our vet to get her the care she needed. Now that she’s gotten all the healing she needed, she’s ready to trot into your life and make things delicious! Brisket weighs 33 pounds and is a little tank in the body of a Bulldog. We will only consider homes who have experienced flat faced breeds who are prepared for all that comes with Brisket!   Brisket is a loving little hippo who exemplifies the very best of the English Bulldog breed. Those who have loved Bulldogs won’t be able to help themselves from falling head over heels in love with our gal Brisket. She loves keeping her foster mom company during the day, especially if she can do it from the couch as she snorts and snores the hours away. Brisket has no idea that she isn’t exactly couch potato sized, so if you adopt her you are basically also adopting a weighted blanket. A two for one if you ask us! Brisket may love to lounge but our gal has plenty of energy in her as well! When you come home from work or from errands, she hops around like a little bunny in excitement to greet you! Brisket is very food motivated and a fast learner, but like any Bulldog sometimes she will require extra treats to coerce her. Ha! Brisket is also quite the model and we have no doubt that she would be a star in the making once she hits the Instagram scene. Brisket’s gorgeous merle coat and her bright blue eyes make her pop! She can’t wait to charm the world starting with you.  Brisket wakes up at 8 AM and has her breakfast before she heads out for potty time. She comes inside for a treat and then settles in for a nap. She gets a midday walk which she snorts her way through and then she comes home for some playtime and cuddles. In the evening, Brisket has dinner at 5 PM and then settles down for some TV time and snuggling. She goes out once more for potty and then heads to bed.  Brisket gets along well with dogs and humans alike. Interested homes must be prepared to discuss experience with Bulldogs. Brisket will need a home prepared to continue her ear and flap cleaning to make sure she is as healthy as can be. Brisket would be an option for a home with a resident dog but she could also fly solo! She’s flexible and eager to please. Sit down for a deliciously adorable time with Brisket today!      Brisket is only an option for homes who have previous experience with Brachiocephalic breeds. Kids should be over the age of 5.January 29, 2025, 4:26 pm

If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered.   Adoption Fee: $700   Toby is a 6 month old Boxer x Beagle mix who’s ready to rock and roll his way into your heart! Toby was found wandering the streets of San Jose by good samaritans who did their best to find his former home. When that wasn’t possible, they got him seen by a vet and are now hoping to find him a new landing place where he can grow and thrive. Toby currently weighs around 35 pounds and will probably max out around 50 pounds. If you’re ready for adventure with a canine best friend, come and meet Toby!      Toby is a happy and loving puppy ready to make the world his own! He loves to play with his humans, his toys, and his canine foster brother. He adores his humans and loves knowing where everyone is. He is the perfect mix of active and laid back, especially for a large-breed puppy. According to his foster mom, he is 50% playful and 50% loungey. He loves his long walks though and would be an amazing addition to an active home looking to explore the outdoors. We could see Toby thriving in a variety of homes, as long as there is plenty of love in store for him! He loves having a playful companion but he could also thrive solo! He’s just ready to be your happy and faithful companion. He is also super smart as well as food motivated and has picked up tons of tricks in the time he has been with his foster people. You won’t find a better more amazing companion than Mr. Toby!  Toby wakes up at 7 AM and heads outside to stretch and go potty. He gets lots of pets and hugs before he relaxes as his humans start their day. He has breakfast at 8 AM inside of his crate and then spends some time playing with his toys and relaxing. He goes on a walk around 11 AM before returning home for an afternoon of napping and playing with his toys. At 4 PM he practices some of his tricks before he goes on another walk, followed by some playtime at the park. He has dinner at 7 PM and then plays with his toys. He winds down around 9 PM and heads to bed after one last potty break.  Toby currently lives with a large dog and they get along very well. He loves humans of all ages as long as they will play with him! Toby walks well on the leash and loves his strolls. He is house trained. If you’re ready to find your new pal, come on down and meet Toby!      Toby is an option for homes with prior dog owning experience. Kids should be over the age of 5.January 25, 2025, 12:25 am

Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $700 Meet Charlotte – The Boxer with a Heart of Gold Charlotte, or Charlie as she’s lovingly called, is a 4 year old, 44-pound Boxer with a heart full of love. She is ready to find the forever family that will cherish her as much as she deserves. When she arrived in her foster home, she didn’t know what grass felt like under her paws. She had never curled up on a soft dog bed or been welcomed onto a couch. But now? Charlie knows love, and she can’t get enough of it. A Day in the Life of Charlie She wakes up when her people do—whether that’s early on a weekday or a lazy weekend morning. Breakfast is after morning cuddles, followed by a quick trip outside (where she still appreciates a reassuring presence). During the day, she can be found snoozing on a dog bed near her favorite humans, curled up with one of her doggy foster siblings, or just enjoying the feeling of being safe and comfortable. Come evening, she’s the happiest pup when her family is home. Dinner is at 5 PM, followed by some playtime—because Charlie has the best Boxer wiggles you’ll ever see. When the day winds down, she’ll find the coziest spot to cuddle up in bed with her humans. She’s not just a pet; she’s a companion who wants to be part of every moment with you. Loving, Loyal, and Full of Life Charlie is the best of both worlds: an energetic, joyful pup when it’s playtime and the most affectionate snuggle bug when it’s time to relax. She loves people. She adores people. She will follow you from room to room, not to be a bother, but just to be with you. She is gentle, grateful, and so eager to please. She’s also a fantastic playmate! Living with four dogs of all sizes, Charlie fits right in, whether romping with a 95-pound gentle giant or sharing a cozy nap with a smaller pup. She hasn’t been around kids yet, but with her loving nature, we imagine she’d do great in a family with children who respect her space. Why Charlie? If you’re looking for a dog who will be over-the-moon excited every time you come home, who will remind you every single day how much she appreciates you, and who will reward you with unconditional love, Charlie is your girl. She is resilient, affectionate, and the definition of a “good girl.” She doesn’t bark, doesn’t chew, doesn’t dig—she just loves. The Perfect Home for Charlie Charlie would thrive in a home where she is showered with love and attention. She’d love an active family, maybe with another playful dog, and a secure yard where she can stretch her legs and enjoy her newfound freedom. Most of all, she needs a family who will embrace her as part of their hearts and home. Charlotte isn’t just looking for a home. She’s looking for her person. Could it be you?Charlotte is an option for a home that has had a dog previously. If there are children they need to be over the age of 8 unless they currently live with dogs. February 1, 2025, 7:30 am
