Story
Hi lovely people. My name is JELLYBEAN (Joy) and here is a little info about me:Breed: Shar Pei/Basenji mixAge: 1 yrGender: maleWeight: 35 lbsHeight: little under 15 inchesCountry of origin: Canada (Toronto)Highlight(s): sweet, fast learner, intelligent, clingy, extremely tolerant, playful I have a great deal of love to offer a family. I learn so very fast and am a great listener, you'll love having me around.Rescued right here in Toronto when 5 months old, where my rescuer found me on the streets with a woman apparently not wanting me. Unfortunately, the woman I am living with now is away 12 hours a day. Another rescuer has finally convinced her to let me find a new home. This extremely long time alone is very hard on a young dog like me. So I cry and sometimes destroy things. I am lonely and bored. My current owner can't afford a dog walker, so she leaves the balcony open for me to go out to do my business when she is gone. It is freezing cold though. I have short fur, so have to find a spot to curl up to keep warm. When we go for walks to the park, I love to play fetch and with the other dogs too. I am good at coming when called too. At home, I am pretty calm though and enjoy just sitting with my current person. I also sleep with her at night. I can be clingy, likely due to the situation I am in.A couple things to be aware of... I get scared with loud noises, even the wind. It makes me cling to the ground and tuck my tail. Also, they think I was abused, as if you say 'no', I get so scared that I go to a corner and start shaking. Isn't that sad? Only a mean person would traumatize a dog like that? If we go to new areas, I will put my tail down. Once I am comfortable with the new place, then I gain more confidence. There may be other things I react fearfully to, but with a loving, patient home and my high intelligence level, I know I can overcome this. I never react with any aggression. In fact, I am submissive. You'll be happy to know, I also like guys. I probably even love playing with men more than women. I get along with other dogs, kids and they say cats too (not sure if there will be a video though.) https://youtube.com/shorts/WC9yvh5TV2k?feature=share.Are you willing to open your heart to a sweet, cuddly guy like me? Can you show me what the real love of a family is? I just want to please you and try so hard, but I am young and need to romp and play, not be locked up alone for 12 hours straight. Are you ready for my utmost gratitide? Please adopt me. Energy Level: moderateI get along with:Dogs: yesCats: unknown, rescuer states yes, working on videoKids: unknown, rescuer states yes, await video Fears: Loud noises, new streets, saying 'no'. Please be patient assisting me in my transition.Training: house etiquette: do my biz on walks or on pee pad on balconyLeash skills: yes. Please be prepared to continue training.House trained: Yes. Please help me learn where to go in my new home. Health notes:I am not yet neutered, but my owner will do so once an adopter is found. I am vaccinated and microchipped. My adoption fee is $800.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or  Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. [MID-EAST] *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East.[TURKEY] Dogs from Turkey receive a 4D SNAP test to include Heartworm, Ehrlichiosis, Leishmania and Anaplasmosis. ##2287641##
